Misha: well, first of all, the model IS very simple, the wrap of the upper body is not that good under his 'armpits' and down the sides of his waist, his pants don't have crotch and butt wrapped that well, and the axe is looking too big for that wrap it sports, so i would either suggest finding a different wrap that'll make the axe scarier and more fitting to chains, or changing the size of the axe. (and also the handle is blurry and doesn't really have another end poking of the other side of the axe base) next are the chains.. sure, gold is nice, but it really feels like it's lacking something to put the whole theme together. (maybe a TC shoulderpad?, or kneepad? or something on the back?) helm is kinda good, but the horns are very oddly shaped and like.. just erected without a thought.. i should suggest something like the horns of Loki's helm, aka golden and curved upward and over, (like horns of illidan(evil) model)
what else is to add? well.. this maniacal axe would probably look cooler with a layer of animated texture over it (or simple glow, or small particles, if you're not the flashy type) and lastly, the animations. add some more to the set, more onehanded, twohanded, demonhunter-like.. drunken? (abomination anims experiment i did once on a grunt) it's your choice what you'll add, but try it.
textures and materials..? i have a hunch that you're using a bit too many textures for small single pieces. settle in for one texture that can give you the same look of those small pieces, if you can.
portrait? probably needs some rework like the model itself, but the face of both, doesn't match the body color that well..
