Night sky with moon skybox

A skybox for "night sky" you need to use this action.

  • Environment - Set sky to war3mapImported\MoonySky.mdx
the top is all strangely wrapped, but all skyboxes look like that on the top, don't reject it for that one reason.

i may take some skybox requests, if i like them, and someone needs them.

Made moon 70%

PS: what model type should i pick and catagory?

Edit: Added skycylinder: "MoonySky_Portait.mdx"

Keywords:
UI, sky, Skybox, night, moon, ikillforeyou, high, top, best, game interface, effect?

lookin sweet, but.. wtf is a skybox? O__o

Skyboxes were used back in older games (Lets take one of my favorite games: Star Wars: Jedi Knight 3 Jedi Academy into example).

You would have the objects ingame, your map, bla bla bla, and if you went out into the edge of the map, you would see a pretty low quality (or high quality, depends on the game) background image, and the model would consist of a box, with the background textures. They however would tend to make it impossible to see the textures connect at the edges of the box, else it would look weird.

WarCraft 3 uses Skyboxes, thats why if you do View Ingame Settings, and zoom out alot, you'll see the skybox.

World of WarCraft uses Skyspheres, which is the same thing, except its in a sphere, and looks more realistic.

A little yellowish moon might be better, cause you know, the sun rays. Also there needs to be a lot fewer stars like only several should be seen, and different brightness/magnitude, like you may order them in some constellation but it's a thing never done before, so it;s nice to have when someone wants to use

I have there a little suggestion. maybe you could look at the underground dome model from Icecrown Glacier ... it is under cinematic doodads. I have experimented alot with this dome, changing the texture and so on. It is worth to take a look at it. ;D

that's all that's stopping me from making the next skybox, it's just not working, it doesn't show the cloud layer!

here it is, the alpha version of it

why don't you just make a material that has the sky picture as first, and the moving clouds texture as an additive blend in front? I guess that it would show if it's all one material.. instead of spinning cloud thingamajig.. Oo
