Nameless - One Orc's Saga

CHAPTER I is now available! If you played this previously, you may need to replay the Prologue.

Nameless - One Orc's Saga (version 1.03) is a single-player campaign RPG, similar in style to The Frozen Throne's Orc Campaign. Play as Nameless, an orc who awakes in a dungeon with no knowledge of his past, where he is, or who his captors are.

As of right now, this campaign includes the Prologue and Chapter I. Together they provide about 3 hours of gameplay.

FEATURES
-Guide Nameless and his allies through a dungeon and the wild.
-Utilize unique spells and abilities, all of which are, to some extent, trigger-based - none of them are clones of existing abilities
-Fight dynamic bosses - they don't just sit there and autoattack!
-Join up with up to three other heroes along the way, for a total party of up to 4 completely unique and new units.
-A weapons and armor system
-Unique items
-A developing storyline and engrossing world

This is a developing project, and updates will add more!

Credits for all models and systems are in game, under the Quests/Info tab.

CHANGELOG
Version 1.02
-The Ruins cinematic and Final cinematic are now skippable. The Cell Block cinematic and second boss cinematics are still not, as they are very short.
-Added new quest requirements: both heroes must survive.
-Added a "lose" trigger. Previously, if a hero died, nothing would happen.

Version 1.03
-Chapter I added! This Chapter has about two hours of gameplay.
-Some of Nameless' and Sigismund's abilities have been tweaked. For example, Penance is now much more potent.

Version 1.04
-A few additional health and mana potions have been added to the later areas of the Prologue. They are in more obvious places, and drop from units and destructibles that are actually in your way, rather than off the beaten path.
-A resurrection system has been added in Chapter I. It functions much like the system in the Frozen Throne Orc campaign - there are Resurrection Stones around the map, and if one of your living heroes approaches one, after a few moments your dead heroes will be resurrected. You should still save fairly often, though, because if ALL your heroes die, then it's game over :). The Prologue still has no Rez system - it's only 45 minutes anyway.

Version 1.05
-Several bugs should now be fixed, including the Power Familiar running around during cinematics, and heroes casting spells during cinematics.
-Several items have been scattered around in the various destructibles of Chapter I.
-The respawn rate of enemies has been slowed from 2 minutes to 4 minutes.

Version 1.06 - 9/12/2011
-Fixed a memory leak that was preventing players from loading a saved game.
-Fixed a few erroneous tooltips.
-Reduced the HP and damage of the Waterbound Elementals and Poisonous Ampodians in the Prologue.
-Reduced the difficulty of the forest boss and final boss in Chapter 1.

KNOWN ISSUES
-The first Golem Event in Chapter I sometimes has issue. If units stop spawning, it may take a minute or so for the next wave to spawn. They WILL spawn, it just takes a while.
-Certain abilities lag when used for the first time.

Woah! I'm impressed! This looks really promising,it will certainly be an awesome campaign if you plan to continue it.

good points

+ Good Terrain (I particularly liked the meat chamber,it was awesome)
+ Great Story
+ Good Hero Abilities
+ I've found no major bugs
+ The Cinematics are skippable (except the one when you reencounter the Templar)
+ The Bosses are awesome and very fun to beat

bad points

I've found nothing bad,this campaign has only strong points in my opinion.

I haven't decided how many chapters there will be. It's definitely a work-in-progress, and I just wanted to upload the Prologue to see how people feel about it.

Minus a few small things (such as being able to skip all of the cinematics), this first map is pretty much finished.

Also, thank you for your kind response, MagnusREX. Posts like those give hope to new mapmakers such as myself.

Version .02 alpha is up. The changes are listed above.

Possible future updates:
-I will add more items to the various destructibles, which will vary in usefulness
-Work on the first chapter (as this map is the prologue) has begun! It is in the planning stages, and will most likely take a while.

I liked it. It's actually some time since I've played a campaign that I liked.
Therefor when I started I was a little pessemistic, but you sure proved me wrong.
I think the story is good and the whole feeling of it makes me want more :smile:
I hope that you will make more soon :thumbs_up:
The only negative thing I can say is you might want to add more undead drop Life essence (although it makes little sence), because I had a hard time getting through the map from that place.

Great story, great heroes, great gameplay. In short... it's just great!

Boss fights were fun! I really like the fight with the Librarian. It was a break from the standard hit-hit-hit fights. Looking forward to the next episodes. :grin:

Wonderful map! Can't wait for more, I tried it without whosyourdaddy and I still got pretty far, but not really far :(. Think I'll try it with god mode next time cause I could only get tooo where the human comes back but when I go down the hall ghouls and zombies swarm me! NOO! Anyways extremely great map! Hope the rest of the campign is as good!

Okey enought with the spam! This campaign is awesome! I love everything about it, the story, terrain, spells everything! The campaign is great and i wish i could rate it more than 5 but i can't im sorry! But i will probebly kill you if you dont finish:ctwist:
And i really loved the meat chamber or what it was called. You did a great job with the characters! i love them all!!!! The bosses were great! And it was hard (that's a good point) The campaign wasen't easy (YES! its a good point too^^)

I just want to give everyone a quick update. I haven't been working on the campaign for the past three weeks due to various reasons, but rest assured that the project has continued as planned! Once again, though, it may be a while before I release the next chapter.

I would also like to thank everyone for their overwhelmingly positive responses! I wouldn't have imagined that my first released map would garner a 5/5.

Very cool!!!
The encounters were fleshed out very smoohtly to provide a challenge. I especially enjoyed the spellcaster boss fight. Also, the new abilities are original and fun to play with - Inner Focus <3!

I look forward to seeing the next installment. ^^

Damn, i want more of this!

The inventory system doesnt work, and the meat cleavers buff was Endurance Aura, otherwise, Great prologue.

Pure win. The fights were challenging, but not in the typical way, where all the numbers are ridiculously high (attack, defense, stats, etc). Custom unique spells (not just reiterations of what we have all seen a dozen times), memorable boss fights, great story, what am I going to rate it, except for a 5/5? Eagerly awaiting the rest. :thumbs_up:

This map is great :wthumbsup:
Only found some minor "bugs", as the first when you leave the water elemtal room you can still see the area. And second just after where 2 spear throwers are standing behind baricades you can just run back and they will run out after you (you should probally block the path with more baricades)
But anyways a really GREAT map :D

Hello all, another update. Unfortunately, I have had pretty much no time to work on this project during the last weeks of my previous semester, as school has taken up most of my time. Also, I am home now on winter break, and the computer here is so terrible and it cannot handle the WC3 editor with any sort of speed. I have made very little progress on the map itself, but ideas are still coming along fresh. The story and new characters for Chapter I are pretty much done, I just need to make the map itself, lol. Hopefully work can continue when I return to school and get back to my powerful desktop - that'll be in mid or late January.

Again, I am amazed and humbled by everyone's responses. This gives me a lot of motivation to complete the series, so fear not, it will be finished!

For reference, here's a bit of a progress chart for Chapter I:
Terrain & Triggers: 10%
Story: 80%
New Skills: 100%

The next couple heroes will round out your party to be quite... diverse, shall we say?

Also, I understand that the main orc's amnesia is quite cliche, but I have not decided if that memory loss will be extremely important to the storyline or not. It may have much importance, or a bit, or very little.

1: Why would they build a meatbox with human flesh? :)
2: Where did the undead come from?
3: Why would they let the ruins remain intact when building the prison?
4: Who is the chief baddy of this campaign? :?

You play Diablo series?

And then :)grin:) about that chapter 1 progress (forgot to mq this and that progress post...), Danish, I think terrain should be the first to be done and then heroes, doodads, and etc... (I mean that you add low water places, deep water places and maybe more different terrain types...)

You are just like me. :grin: (I mean you do things like me when I'm creating a map, howerer, always my maps fail. :sad:)

Yea, it'll be a while still. I'm back at college now, and I have continued to work on the campaign, but I don't have all the time in the world to finish it. Classes, clubs, social life... they've all got to be taken into account!

it is written that secondary inventory can be summoned by pressing the escape menu.i tried but noyhing happened.

on what basis does that paladin starts moving? i went to the place where the massage that prisoners sometimes try to distract the prison guards comes. he came with me there. then i went back and he followed. i went again to the place of the prisoners but he did not immediately follow me why? when i had freed the prisoners the prison guards appeared.after i had killed them he came back and starting attacking the rock chunks ahead. Do something by which i can decide where he goes and when he goes.

when the rocks fall by which we are separated we were on the same side and also i had not destroyed any rock.then explain how did those 2 get on the opposite sides when their paths were blocked?

there had been an earthquake and the scribes were still studying in the study?

The book keeper was not very strong. it just took me time to go after him as he teleported from one place to another. i could easily dodge his fire spells as their area of effect was too small. also don't you think that summoning fire in a library was a little foolish of the book keeper? he was the book keeper i think. try to change the name if you think what i am saying is somewhat logical.

what is the idea behind leaving mana by the bookkeeper?

you can help in managing the inventory by making the potions stack into one inventory. that will save a lot of space.

the nameless has level x CHAMPION. whose CHAMPION he is?according to the story he can't remember who he is or anything like that.

where do the ogre prison wardens go?those 2 at the place where there are too many guards and i opened the cell.

There was no boss guarding the exit to this place.

there are many places in the map where the storyline is unexplained.why are humans, ogres and humans all together are guarding the place? why were the undead attacking the place all over the place? who were those creatures whom the butcher summoned? who was the butcher, why was he roaming free.this i say because he came in and closed the door behind me? why was the door near the butcher closed till the butcher was dead? why did the water elementals summoning there to attack us?

Overall a good map. 3/5

As I had posted above, Zelda.Alex, many of your questions will be answered in future chapters. This is an ongoing story. I'm not going to reveal everything to the player in the Prologue.

As for other questions, such as the ones regarding the scribes, the falling rocks, and the Bookkeeper boss fight - don't look at things so realistically! It's a map that was intended to be fun :)

OK i will not look at the map that realistically. I am also starting to think that the problem regarding the book keeper was my foolishness.
But the problem of the inventory was genuine. is that a bug or i misunderstood the wording in the quest menu?

Also i forgot to tell that the 2nd mage that comes in the story had no mana.

Wow, I didn't know people could still look at and respond to this map, since it's put into the "needs fixing" category or whatever.

Ok, people need an update. I HAVE been working on this map, but only very sporadically. School and college sport obligations (olympic-style taekwondo ftw) took up most of my time at school, and for various reasons I took frequent breaks from working on this campaign

Now, during summer, I have standard 9-5 job which is 45 minutes away, so my time is somewhat limited. HOWEVER, WORK IS CONTINUING, albeit slowly. I may have to tone down on the terrain somewhat, since that's what takes up most of my time. If I had to guess, I'd say Chapter I is about halfway done, and I hope it will be finished by the end of the summer.

One question for everyone: can people still download this even though it's rejected?

Chapter I is up! FINALLY! It's been... a year, I think.

Please respond with questions, comments, suggestions, and praise :). Oh, and bugs - PLEASE tell me about any bugs.

Oh, and I have no guarantees that cheats are going to be compatible with this campaign. Revealing the map and using Not-So-Trivial Pursuit to break sequence is not advised.
