Map Info



The final race will takes place in the Coral Bay near the Naga Wet Lands. Every races have sent their best racer to won
this epic cup. Choose one from 21 uniques racer to defeat your opponents. This is a race where only strong racers will survive.

Features



This game is a race arena with specific units and a custom sliding trigger movement. Each racer can be moved with the arrow
key. Each lap done the player will receives 100 gold that will gives him the chance to change his racer. The racer have
differents movespeed and spells.
When a racer dies it loses 10 gold. The game finished when one of the player reaches the maximum amount of spell.

Keys :
Up Arrow : Accelerate
Down Arrow : Slow Down
Left Arrow : Turn Left
Right Arrow : Turn Right

Spells :
Each units have 2 spells, these one are important to have speed or disable opponent during the game.
Each spell cost some mana, when the caster's amount of mana reaches 0 it can't cast any spells. There is a place in the
race path to restore mana.
The controls of these spells are Q and W

There is 4 kind of racers :
They are sold in some specific shops

Modes :
There is a few modes in this map
-hs : Half Score Mode (Only 5 laps to win)
-ns : Normal Score Mode (10 laps to win) (Default)
-ds : Double Score Mode (20 laps to win)
-ne : No Event Mode
-nb : No Bonus Mode
-mm : Mouse Mode (To steer your racer with the mouse)

Events :
During the game some events will appear :

Hydra's Trampoline :
The hydra will appear every 40 seconds, if a racer goes in front of it it will be propulsed at the other
side of the wall.

Masakura's Barrier :
Every 35 seconds some animals will move from a lake to an other one.
These animals are powerful and kills every racer it encounters.
4 seconds duration

Hot Water Punch:
Some geyser will appear near the race path. If a racer if damaged by one of it it will be throwed in the air.
Instantanly kills flying racers.

Bonuses :
Some bonus will spawn in the path, if a racer goes through a bonus it will obtain a spell during a short duration.

Kraken Shell :
The racer can't be blocked by spells and kills enemies it encounter
2 seconds respawn time.

Myrmidon Crush :
The caster summon a powerful naga guard that kill every enemies it encounter.

Gush :
The racer is changing into a very fast water spirit.

Spirit Form :
The racer become invisible and can't be targeted by spells.

Crab Pincer :
The racer throw a crab in front of him that kill the first oponents it encounters.

Aqualite Strike :
The racer throw a penguin that will disable the first enemy in front of the caster.

Tide Hunter Storm :
Slow every oponent in the map during 5 seconds.

Murloc Mine :
Put on the ground a murloc that will explode when an opoenent will be near to it
blocking the target during 2 seconds.

A really nice decent map made as a racing game, I was expecting motor bike models for it but looks like you use the standard melee units like dreadlord and wisp, the speed of each unit is kinda slow though the runes give excellent work when used.

Terrain is no much of a problem, it looks tight you might want to add a little more room, especially when I am atmost near on tile walls and doodads in place.

Overall since the game is more fun to play with friends or a co-op online, map is rated as Acceptable.

(1) You can't turn while stopped, but the angle still changes while you hold down left/right, so when you move again your camera instantly sets to that angle, which can be disorienting.
(2) It wasn't very obvious how to buy a different car, and there isn't really any time to read the tooltips to pick one while you're busy racing.
(3) Camera becomes off-centered when near to the map bounds.
(4) Camera height changes when going near cliffs.
(5) Turning sometimes seemed to simply not work. If this is some effect due to e.g. going through a bush, you need to add some SFX to indicate this.
(6) Camera stays behind when you use leap.
(7) End the game properly instead of just a game message.

(8) The use of arrow keys really damages this map. The turning is awkward and has no precision. You should consider adding a mode where you can use right clicks to set your facing angle, and making the camera face down a bit more.

1 - the unit is facing the selected angle when it is not moving and the camera is rotating too

2 - I know that it's quite hard to choose a car because it's a race and you have to select the market but I think this part of the game can be developped alone to know the differents racers (i don't have ideas to improve it)

3 - the map contest forces us to creates a 32x32 map so I can't change this

4 - This is a pretty good point but I can't change it

5 - (I think this is because you spammed the key to turn the event with key selection is not that fast for the worldedit) I think you need 0.5 seconds between every key action
(I think it's enougth)

6 - I fixed that problem the camera followed you now

7 - The end of the game show now a score table for every players ()

Hey, you can't play this map in B.net manual hosting because all the players are on the same team. I suggest you add an enemy team controlled by ai, they can control the "hazards" in the map.

After testing here is my general impression:

Buying new racers is harder than it should be, I keep dying and running into walls while I'm looking at the different racers. Perhaps make racers stop once you select a shop.

Geysers are a little random, you should add bubbles on the ground before the geysers shoot up, so people can dodge them.

I agree that the arrow keys kinda suck, especially on bnet where there's delay. Maybe add a mode where it's normal top-down cam, and you control using right click?

2. Firstly, you can make the market more visible by adding a special effect to it. Something like a circle of power or a quest marker.
Add a trigger that when you crash into the market, it selects it for you so that you can quickly choose a new racer.
If you remember Blizzard's racing map, there was a pit stop area that comes off the main track where you can repair. If you can add a small part like this at each shop, it would be the ideal way to enter the shop and have your car stop for long enough that you can make a decision.

3. Reduce the camera's distance to target and bring it closer to the racer.

8. When you practice it, you get better at it because you remember the map, where to turn and how to predict when to turn, and so on. The delay is still an issue for first-time players, so I'm glad you added mouse control.

9. Oh, sorry about that.
I like the variety in racers, and that the different abilities bring strategy and planning into a racing game, which is definitely interesting.
The map has loads of stuff in it, which is difficult to do well on such a small map. The areas feel different, so with your doodads and units you've managed to make the map feel bigger than it is.

The reason I don't give a lot of praise here is because this type of map has been done before many times.

I'll play the new version and add some more comments.

EDIT:
1. The camera's movement needs some serious smoothing, it's hurting my eyes.
2. Accelerating should be done on right click instead of using an ability.
Here's a simple way to do it without imbalancing the acceleration:
Trigger 1 - On mouse click, set boolean Accelerate = true
Trigger 2 - Every 0.5 seconds (or whatever your cooldown is), if Accelerate is true, set speed = speed + acceleration, and set Accelerate = false.
3. Normal warcraft camera is a bad idea for the mouse mode. It ruins the nice terrain you made, and makes parts of the path difficult to see when hidden behind trees. Mouse control should be do-able with your 3rd person camera, or with another type of top-down camera. Bring it closer, and have the rotation match your movement.
4. Mouse control's turning speed is very imbalanced. You can easily go past a corner and just click to instantly turn around and avoid crashing into the wall. Reduce the racers' turning speed. Remember you can set it below 0.1 by shift-clicking the data field.
5. The multiboard should only be as big as the number of players. I played alone and there were 5 empty spaces.
