Goblin.blp

A moria goblin skin i made for a lotr map i'm working on.
Please credit me if you use this skin in your map.

EDIT: Updated the face a little. But seriously, that's how they look!
EDIT: Ok, did a major update on the face. It should look way more goblinish and less ghoulish now.

Thank you, stanakin. I'm glad someone agrees with me on the face, i seriously dont know what i should do to make it more like a goblin, i mean, since when does orchs not have scars anyway?
I did try to improve it though, made the nose look more like a nose and stuff, but i dont know wich one is newest of my .psd and my .tga, so wtf.

Are you kidding?
Have you ever even seen the original ghoul skin?
The only thing that's recoloured is the face, though the eyes are mine, this is how the ghoul looks:

And this is how a goblin looks:

Seriously, There isn't much i can do on the face since it would look bad with the wrap, and besides, it wouldn't make it look more like a goblin anyway.

No, litsen here: the head a big part of the texture, but about 10% of the actual model. His arms, legs, hands, chest, and feet are all 100% freehand. It makes a large difference on the model.
This bullshit about the face is just nitpicking.

EDIT: I took the liberty of checking out your lich king skin on your resource profile.
It's a nice skin, but your face is just as little edited as mine, if not less.
If that face would have taken up half the texture aswell, i still dont think it would drop the overall quality.

If anyone has further complaints about my skin, try instead suggesting what i should add to it.

When people are critiquing your work, all their doing is critiquing your work. Nobody is making a personal attack on you, so try thinking about the comments a little different than "bullshit" or you may get reprimanded for flaming sometime in the future.

As for the skin, the armor style is nice and the chain mail is especially good. The hair looks rather unusual with were the highlights are, having a white border around the armor looks fine but doesn't seem to work as well on the hair, I'm curious as to how you did it, the fact it is applied to the hair as well makes me think it might be a filter effect. As for the freehand work, the leg, loincloth (around the thigh), inside of the mouth, and hair are more recolors than anything else.

The face looks very similar to the ghouls, to similar to the ghouls for people who have been playing WC3 and modding it to see it as much of anything different. The scars are all in the same place, the teeth are the same shape and are attached to the face via the same skull style way, and in general it looks more undead than butt-ugly goblin. Also, as a few people have pointed out the ghoul's face is more than 10% of the model. With the portrait it is the most important part of any skin, and while it can be daunting to re-skin the face of any model without much experience, this skin could really use some work on the face. At least lips would be nice, rather than the teeth protruding off of the face as if it were a skull. The hair still says crazy undead much more than it says goblin as well, see what you can do to change it around. Also, the ghoul doesn't really have scars. It more or less has portions of skull poking through it's rotting flesh, and the same sort of feal is being translated onto this skin. If nothing else, make it look like it has scars rather than pealing skin.

if you wish to flame on my skin then do it in its comments. not here. it just says that your only here to insult people on their skins and flame people for critiquing yours. and yes i understand that the face was recoloured BUT as specifically stated in the rules, at least 75% of the skin must be freehand. 25% of the skin may either be CnP or Recolour.

So please. do not flame me.

same as every one else, face.
i also think lips will help,
maybe make the nose more like a nose or something
and what about making his mouth smaller, (it is half its face). all gobos have smaller mouths in my opinion.

the armour looks good though

Thank you chrome, that was very helpful. The hair was indeed just re-gradiented, but that's fixed now; i might change the alpha later, but i dont know how much i dare to do.
I also fixed lips, splintered teeth, removed the teared flesh and added some scar tissue and a proper nose.
And about the flaming, well.. it wasn't the critique, it was the way he said it. No one had anything constructive to say except accusing me of breaking the rules.
And Denothor, i wasn't flaming on your skin, i said it was good. I was just trying to make a point.

Hahaha. He called your skin nice dude. What do you consider flaming? Also, the updated face looks really sweet. I'm voting for approval!

Umm, okay, I looks great, but the face needs more to it... Maybe try to add some more of those facial wrinkles? I think it would even it out...

Also, why do people think that orcs and goblins are different species? They arent.... Seriously, they only looked different in the movie, because they directors wanted it. Uruk Hai are just a different breed... +Tolkien used the terms interchangeably, seeing as Dwarves fought with GOBLINS in The Hobbit, but it was changed to ORCs, referring to the same battle.

Dentothor is a jerk.

Ahahahaha! thats hilarious to hear! try complaining a week before now and it wouldn't be so funny.
oh god, that line made my day. :p
but seriously... don't flame me. i only put in my personal input and what i think. calling me a jerk honestly NOT going to change that. and in many peoples eyes, im like simon cowell. Im a jackass when it comes to critiquing (not to metion a hard critiquer to impress), but i get straigt to the point, and im usually right.

It doesnt really looks like a goblin...but an AWESOME ghoul.
Good style, very well made armor.

I really liked it, you could still improve the face. Work more on scars and alike, but looks good enough to me as it is rigth now. Too bad that is barely noticeable in game because of the unit is based on(and thus, the use it can have).

8.8/10

I don't think the ghoul model is good enough to make a LOTR goblin skin. You should use a murloc model instead, they fits much better as LOTR goblin and you could do a "Gollum" skin of this ghoul model instead. =) But anyway gj 4.9/5 the -0.1 is becase you choosed wrong model to base it on..
