Meteor Fly

Okay, I dont think you would enjoy my description, but here's what I thought when I was doing this:

Its rocky texture shows that this monster would spawn from rocky material (particularly meteorites). Hence, the word 'Meteor' is added to the model's name. For its design, it was based on insect (fly and mosquito?) combining with my own imagination, therefore the 'Meteor Fly' is created.

This monster is created from pieces of rock and it is controlled by an ethereal-like being (glow in the middle). For its tail/back wing, I have never thought of rocket while making it. I was thinking more to 'car exhaust system'. But in this case, it is 'energy/mana combustion'. So the monster's energy/mana would appear in fire form. You will notice that the fire only gets released whenever the back tail opens. And the fire gets released more quickly when in combat e.g: Attack Anim, Spell Anim.

There you have it. Bash me all you want, I am proud with my work. First fully made from scratch model. Custom mesh, custom anim.

Additional Note
  • The overhead attachment is purposely attached to the model's movements
  • This model has no foot attachments

Animations are decent, but concept is.. weird..

I have said something constructive and nice. Animations are nice, but weird consept limits it's usability badly.

The first problem is, that it looks like a rocket, and rockets can't just stay in one place, you know. You could just rotate it's... well, it's back, the hole the fire comes out, so it would look like it keeps the whole monster in the air. The next problem is, that it's shape makes it look too lowpoly. The last thing is it's arms shape. They simply look meh.

This is... The fuck is this? Animations are decent, but concept is.. weird.. Dunno why i dislike it's mesh so much.
I am sorry for lack of experience to create better shape within 400 polies, I could not find a way to express my concept. I guess my noob skill must have made you to be incredibly polite. I should have made a humanoid model, it would be much much more unique.

you need to fix the wrap, i can see that each poly have the same texture fix it, and it needs more noise
About the texture, yes I have noticed that. But I cant find suitable texture to what I am aiming for. I would make a custom texture for it, but then again it would boost the filesize which I dont like it. I did added some noise. More noise made it looked weird. So I stopped adding it.

I guess I wont update this model anymore/for the mean time. Too much energy spent, too lazy, too tired.

It's not that it (or you) are bad or anything; I think we're just confused as to what exactly it is.

A lot of times, an artist can fail to succeed not because of any lack of skill, but when their "message" cannot make it through the medium. In this case, the "idea" behind the model is sort of a mystery (at least to me). For example: What is it? What is it supposed to be/do? (the name, 'Meteor Fly', seems to point to some interstellar pest... But what would it pest-ify annoy? etc). Things like that, perhaps?

I was actually wanted to add morph anim so that it morphs into a rock, but then I am too tired to do so. Therefore I stopped here.

There you have it. Bash me all you want, I am proud with my work. First fully made from scratch model. Custom mesh, custom anim.

Hey, There's Room for Improvement isn't there? I like the concept of a Meteor Hovering about. It could go well with the Inferno Spell Actually :D

Here's a friendly suggestion, Try making maybe a Rock Elemental maybe based of the Inferno? it could go well for you :D

I might do so, but not now. Spent one and a half week doing this. Im gonna take some rest.

- The textures wrap on the body seem like tilework, other stuff are fine!
- Personally this idea is not interesting me enough!
 
Wait, what? Is that a? No, then ... What the hell is it, then?

I like it, it's not something we see everyday. Could use a bit of work on the mesh, but the concept is great and when you turn it into a tiny summoned thing to use on Locust Swarm or something of the sort it fits perfectly.

Thank you for the comment. But Im out of ideas how to make the mesh better.

Anyway, once again I have updated this model. This time, it has morph animation sets that allows it to turn into a kind of torch/brazier (Refer to front page for previews). Might prove useful in making mimic monsters.

Now that I have finished this model, I will create an icon for it tomorrow (1 am here).

im quite confusing with it....
need some variations, i like with his mouth very cool. my suggestion to make this as alien insect with better model and bit small size
