Introduction
In a research sector of the United Security Initiative known only as 198X2, a group of scientists and station personnel are assaulted by an unknown threat. As their colleagues die one by one, they must fight to survive and figure out who is doing this to them, and how to stop it...

Short Description
Metastasis 2 is an sequel to Metastasis, a game that was abandoned back in 2012 - a space survival game.
In the beginning of the game, you take one of the following roles(randomly):
  • Alien
  • Mutant
  • Android (depending on number of players, android is loyalist or rogue/evil)
  • Human
Alien, mutant, rogue android (whoever isn't human) must kill everyone, while humans must kill those 3 threats. Obviously those 3 threats are disguised as humans, so backstabs happen...
Combined with Permadeath, Space&Combat mechanics of course!

Roaming space, you can find equipment in the U.S.I. Stations, in the form of suits or other military or utility items. Those will aid you in your plan to victory, since winning can happen in sooooo many ways. After all, planning ahead is a sound strategy(and failure is common because of others' plans)

Humanity's Adversaries
The Alien, the Mutant and the Rogue Android, seek to destroy humans. They are initially as powerful as humans, but over time, they are empowered by means of Evolution. Evolution for each of these roles is different, but it serves as a way to kill personnel head-on, losing your once innocent identity - usually. Some of them seek not to kill everyone who oppose them, but infect them... and make them... like them, simple spawns to their Overlord.

2.0.8a difference from 2.0.8 is rogue droid winning or losing, when it shouldn't happen (gamebreaking bug, understandably warranting its own hotfix)

Changes
  • Certain projectiles don't glitch. Referring to halberd rocket, cryo missile and kidot projection.
  • Endgame is now at 42-44 minutes.
  • Description of Counter for every ability is now in-game.
Bugfixes
  • CCS is now fixed. It was useless in 2.0.8 (horrible, I know) but it is now, like it has always been, and should be.
  • Rogue android's Missile Barrage ability, didn't do damage before, sometimes. Now, it works as intended, except for the first cast.(suggestion: insta-use it at a random target, off-combat)
  • Random cheesy smiling guy appearing on your ability panel, is now removed.
  • Some more rogue droid corpse bugs fixed.(If you find anything, do report!)
  • Overlord's carrier sack can now launch... (fml)
  • Transform skills messing up fusion bomb counts on player sensors.
[2.0.7]
  • Mostly a patch for bugs. Fixed many many manyyy of them.
  • Some HP bars are no longer visible. (Alien egg's for now, more will follow if this works)
  • Slightly Optimized the code.
  • Balanced some stuff, like plasma suit's Matter Drainer (50% less damage/second)
[2.0.6]
  • |N spam-text at start is fixed.
  • Blinding Cloud should be fixed.
  • Bugs bugs bugs, fixed.
[2.0.5]
  • Endgame is now 40-45 minutes.
  • F9 is now "remade"
  • 2 Item slots revealed at 3 TK points succesfully
  • Phase Cloak now makes the Personnel Sensors invisible as well.
  • Rogue Droid automatically shuts down when no more corpses.
  • -l [color] , command for alien is back
  • When GIT dies, all blood test-related items are automatically destroyed.
  • Alien dying and preventing others from using the console, fixed.
  • Removed some more debugging messages...
[2.0.1 up to 2.0.4](most of them)
  • Every ability is now in the QWER format, instead of the great majority.
  • Electromagnetic Bomb Nullification(Defusal Kit): Has a description, and rapid deactivation timer reduced from 1 -> 0.7
  • Kinetic Shield (Ability) Removed.
  • Its unique counter (Ability) Removed.
  • Missile barrage spam is now balanced.
  • Photon suit now doesn't blind as it used to in 2.0.0, its like 1.8.2d
  • Some suit upgrade prices are tweaked.
  • Imperfect spawns rebelling against their masters for genetic inferiority is not a thing anymore. RIP Eugenics, so much for evolution
  • Using EleXium tracker + suit now doesn't send you straight to the shadow realm.
  • Time alien is now limited to 1 eldritch beast as intended.
  • Dropping items on the floor/ground to re-test is now fixed.
  • Alien can now buy suits when 2+ TK Points.
  • Rogue droid cannot inject/plant chip in already used corpses.
  • Some antibody spawned shenanigans fixed.
  • Plenty plenty plenty of Personnel Sensor(the inventory revealers) bugs fixed.
  • Android now doesn't have omniscient knowledge of every lesser being.
  • Several bugs related generally with units are now resolved. For instance, hp regeneration on some units wasn't intended, and is now fixed. (if u find anything odd, do report)
  • Infinite items fixed.
  • Alien unable to pick up EleXium fixed.
  • 3 Snoeglays = 30 HP now properly works instead of 40.
  • EleXium tracker no longer detects used EleXium
  • You can now always buy from EleXium manipulator (if there is any bug, report and it shall be fixed)
  • Most commands have been purged removed. Some will return.
  • Test messages removed. (sowiee)

-you can potentially destroy security doors but it takes quite a while. It's annoying to click them by accident. Might they work better invulnerable?
-not sure if outpost supply building types should not be invulnerable as mumusks or whatever they are called attack them.
-hacking doors doesn't open them. The unit gets through them.
-some abilities need better descriptions with values and all like the one for Reserve Rockets.
-terrain could use some work in some places as it's one tile and mostly empty.
-should containment pens be destroyed by attack or only opened via control panels?

All in all quite similar to the original.

This was done mainly because armor was not really used in game since everyone has 0 armor. Additionally, it benefits corporal alien since you could tell who was alien at the beginning due to his bonus ms. This way, it becomes harder for people to recognize corporal as alien.

-you can potentially destroy security doors but it takes quite a while. It's annoying to click them by accident. Might they work better invulnerable?

The doors are meant to be destoryable. Otherwise, people would not be able to get out if the captain or janitor locks the doors.

-not sure if outpost supply building types should not be invulnerable as mumusks or whatever they are called attack them.

By making them invul, you would remove certain nuances that was put in place to lessen things like people constantly running and resupplying, which would lead to making games unnecessarily longer and giving others advantages like it did in the previous versions. It also destroys mutant/alien strategy of destroying them to prevent the use of antibodies.

If your talking about the pens containing the sludge; they are meant to be destroyed. There are no control panels to open them. But if your talking about the syluss containing creatures like the mumusks; they are meant to be destoryable by attack and openable by control panels.

The map isn't in just one spot/community, steam and discord are the main spots for Metastasis 2 which both offer better methods of sharing elongated/extended information that is available to everyone! (with no need of scrolling or any effort of searching):thumbs_up:

After all, the redirections aren't for necessary information, but finding people to play with :grin:

Too fancy a description discourages readers, instead of screenshots there is a trailer which also means a video to help players with their introduction to our map, after all, like an image is worth a thousand words; A video is a thousand images :gg:

In addition, screenshots are static pictures often lacking the message they mean to send, especially in a map where psychology and tension cannot be easily conveyed with just 1 frame.

Off-topic but slightly related (on the Edit and below part), Clanzion's answers above are excellent but to continue the others:

Ironically this was a bug, but after so many years (6+ years) it is now considered a feature for so much time, just like janitor sometimes doing the same with certain security doors... :cute:

I agree, some descriptions are vague, and lack numbers. It will slowly be fixed in every update.

Indeed, it will be remedied in the future, since 2.0 like every version so far, hasn't fixed the crippling game design flaws (or didn't fix some of them), but it will be done once these are done (hopefully right after 2.1)

the new version is bugged i think, everyone start in the queen and don't have any ship so nobody can go to space or other stations

Starting the game with 5 or less players, activates the Niffy Lockdown mode :p (what you just described above) However, if you do find a bug (so many already) do report them in either the steamgroup or discord :thumbs_up:

Feels like alien the movie. A good idea for a quick game.
Although I haven't tried it ( YET ) I think the game would feel slow due to the amount of time needed for the alien evolve making the crew go into a paranoia of team-killing spree, after all it's niffy and nowhere else to go :D
