Mecha Isle v1.8.1

In the far future criminals are sent to this isle to earn their freedom by fighting one another in a lethal battle with powerful mechs.

FPS Hero Arena in which you take on the role of a mech warrior and battle in the ruins of an ancient temple. The point is simple - kill enemy mechs to level up (faster) and to score points. Credits are included in the game. More items won't be added for now.

AI available.

Version 1.1

Added shop with custom items.
Added Shield Slam ability to mech.
Camera sensitivity can now be set.
Attack ability can now be activated easier (left click on target).
Added 1 Plasma Rifle (gun) to try it out. - If you like it I will make more

Now you get tho choose between 3 mechs with different abilities.
You can vote to change frag limit.
Updated some items in the shop.
Changed the way the abilities work (not in spell book anymore) and added shortcuts (x,c,v) for easier use.

Added keyboard movement system.

Reworked attack system (added targeting).

Removed some triggers that I used for testing (no more massage spam).
Added control panel unit which you can use to set camera sensitivity.
Added more info in "Info tab" about attack system.

AI players can now buy items.
Added 3 tipes of power ups that spawn in random locations.
Reduced map size now (4.81mb)
Fixed a paladin skills description.

Added attribute adjustment system at the start of the game.
Added one more power up orb.
Modified the way weapons work.
Boosted hp of gunner.
Multiboard icons now displayed according to mech type.
Modified the way orb of regeneration works.

Changed loading screen.
Fixed bugs & tool tips.
Terrain updated.

Added killing spree system and energon resource.

Added 1 more mech to choose from.
Fixed some more leaks and tool tips.
Altered "Energon Consumption" skill to "Recharge" which now restores energy.

It says it needs someone in team 2, and there is no team 2!

Thanks for that... I think it's good now. I forgot to reset the forces cause at first I thought about making it with 2 teams.

Aight let's see.

Downloading was fast, and loading was pretty fast too.
You have AI, AWESOME.
Gameplay was AMAZING, DUDE, JUST AWESOME!
No, really. It was lagless too. Amazing.
The terrain was great too!

I rate this map 5/5 or 6/6 when it is finished.

Suggestions:
Guns. That will make it more awesome.
Jump/Jetpack. Hallelujah.
Items and other stuff.
More maps :D

But seriously, continue this, it's too awesome. Deserves rep too.

well, it is pretty good. Nice gameplay, and it was pretty fun.
As all other people said, it is awesome, so no need to discuss it then :p

however, a few things to point out.

  • the camera can be annoying at times.Maybe make it more smooth.
  • i was confused when my mecha didnt attack, until i realised i need to manually use the attack button. Maybe say it in the description or somewhere (maybe i missed it? :p )
  • I VOTE FOR GUNS! :p

okay ive tested it and uhm...

-please set the block skill to something else than b =O
-skills in a "spellbook" suck pretty much at this kind of game. put the passives in a spellbook and the actives like normal. also it would be good to put the skills' shortcuts to Q,W,E and R (pretty common shortcuts)

this map has a lot potential and i think this map begs to advance.
my suggestions:

-different mechas to choose from(u can choose from a few mechs at start and u can buy much stronger mechas in the later game...a bit like battleships)
-different classes of mechas (assaulter,spy,long ranged, transformer....etc) with different related items only they can use.
-bigger terrain, maybe with some units spawning from each teams side (yes, a bit aos like with teams)

I never tested it yet, not sure if I will, (unless you ask me to... since I'm a game critic lol.)

I ain't gonna go perfect score on you just like the others did, if I ever review it.

I really don't care much for the score I just enjoy when people appreciate my work and have fun. I my self wouldn't give a 5 to my map. I know it has much more work to be done on it and needs lots of improvements and I try to patch it up as much as I can. Even better I will do a little criticism my self - The idea is original 5/5 , the terrain is good 4.5/5 , skills - 4/5 , gameplay -4/5, AI - 5/5, Music - 5/5 (well I think that is the main stuff to point out even others have mentioned no lag and etc...) over all I give it 4.5/5 to be fair, but that's in my opinion.

Now if anybody would like to thinker with this map and try to make it better please pm me and ask for the details. I would really like to make it a worthy 5/5 with your help.

Ok finish reviewing this map and this is what I got to say about it.

Bad Points

-Only 1 kind of mech like there isn't a variety, no shooting style mech, no armored mech, no heavy hitter etc...

-Camera is a bit hard for me but luckly there is the left and right arrow. Usually when you do a third person view it helps using a keyboard instead of a mouse to move.

-Find it annoying when your can't retreat since there are 2 guys attacking you and your camera is facing them when your hit.



Neutral Points

=No modes to choose from (how many kills, a time limit etc...)

=Not enough items in the shop, since it doesn't affect gameplay it's neutral.


Good Points

+Music fits well with this type of game

+Terrain is a reasonable size, although not beautiful it's still nice.

+The abilities work well, although I wish I didn't had to press ESC key then B to block, you could add it to the abilities spells.

+The option of Auto Attack and Manual Attack is a difference between beginners and experienced players of that map.

+Didn't encounter a lag at all.

Cool

Pretty good game. But I do have some things to point out...


Motion
- Difficult. Not only can't you fight someone while you are running away, it's pretty hard to maneuver your mech. I suggest using dpads for motion. (left - left turn, up - move forward, etc etc...)

Attacking.
- No questions for melee types. For ranged units, make the attack button attack the nearest (or a locked-on unit) as they press the attack button. This will make ranged units more formidable as they can move while attacking their primary targets.

Game
- More items. More levels. More significant skills (Improved movespeed skills, and more passives I guess) and more mech.

Overall
- A really great game with a lot of potential.

Great work.

I think that you need more skills,and something missing in game,add some special power ups to spawn on map,to get bonus speed or shield that cause damage to nearby enemy units or something like that.Also i think that Plasma Rifile item dont work....:spell_breaker: +REP

The power ups are a good idea I will work on that on a later state thanks for the suggestion :thumbs_up:

Maybe you can add 1 special spell that damage all nearby units when is activated ,and set that can be used only 1 time in game....Also if you have some program for sound editing, try to make sound files smaller.., map is just to big. Players are very lazy in this days, they cant wait to download 6 mb on Garena..,even if someone give them link to dl from net, most of them will say "i am to lazy for that"....Trust me i now from exp. try to make map smaller :grin::thumbs_up:

My Suggestions
#1-I suggest that you have a better arrow-key system since the one you currently have is really annoying (make it so that instead of moving a long ways by pressing it 1 time make it to where you have to hold it in).

#2-Make the music optional as in player 1 red types -music off as an exact match incase they dont want to listen to it.

#3-I didnt even see a credits section and if you have no one else to give credit to then say so.

#4-Fix the multiboard it drastlically needs to be tuned up right now its bigger than it needs to be plus it always has the same icons on it.

#5-Description that you have here can be greatly improved by using certain codes to hide/better display all the change-logs, also please add a credits section.

#6-Fix all tooltips/descriptions/interface messages (as in if lumber is unused the say so or if "quests" section has credits/controls in it then change it from "credits" to "Help" or "Info.".

#7-Change the camera since it is horribly hard to turn or see anything with your current camera system.

#1 The arrow key system is actually working like you say I should make it (you have to keep pressing up key to move forward)
#2 Press F10 -> Menu -> Options -> Sound (use scale music) ;)
#3 Well there is a credits section in the "Info" tab and it's curious how you didn't see it since there are only 2 "quests" there
#4 Multiboard size is fine besides you can collapse it. Icons yes maybe I should work on that.
#5 Optional
#6 The quest section is named "info" which further increases my curiosity (how could you miss out on that).
#7 Well I added control panel to adjust camera sensitivity I still don't know why some of the people dislike the camera system. If you think you can do it' better pm me.

For the camera, theres a fix to make it move smoother:

(or two fixes now)

Besides that, automatically picking up items when running over them would be fine.

And decide whether the user should use keyboard / mouse or keyboard / keyboard, because:
using the arrow keys to move, the hotkeys to select abilities and the mouse to aim is difficult.
Either use selection and order events to refer to the mouse keys while using the keyboard to move, or make the abilities instant without the need of using the mouse at all

Don't remove the music, it's good. This map kinda reminded me of Exteel when I think better... Just, it needs more arenas, maybe jetpacks? And thinner Mechas?

I Luv Exteel! I always manage to fall off the level AND still get XP!

i dont think jetpacks are that easy. you'd need to keep clicking the up raise button then the down fall button. that or jetpacks could be keyboard controlled.
 
i have to agree with Vuormalainen.

Well everybody has different tastes so if you don't like it thats your problem, maybe tell me why exactly you don't like it ... :con: the idea or what cause I doubt there are any flaws in the game it ...self point out something ;)

And the keyboard movement is optional made by request it's ment to be played with a mouse.

Camera glitched for me when I was playing during a knockback into a cliff, other then that it was a nice map, but a bit under developed--can't wait to see the map in it's full bloom. During the camera glitch the entire screen went black similar to the brief moment during spawning of the robo except for the fact that it stayed this way even after death. I would like to see:
-Terrain that effected gameplay(movement/weapon fire/damage) not everywhere but some.
-Some sort of customizing of your robot, instead of just the different types actually being able to build your robot.
-Distortion of screen or robots aiming of abilities when getting pushed through knockback, because currently you can still attack when getting knockbacked and hit your opponent which is a little weird.

My rating 3.5/5, but I know you will make it better so I give you 4.5/5 :D

Just played it several things I found wrong.
1. No music did not play at all during the game.
2. You've deactivated auto attack so now its having to click attack and on the enemy again gets very tedious.
3. When you choose your robot the camera defults below the rock and through it.
apart from those loved it.

-Loved the map, I think that you should add some aoe abilities like a whirlwind ability for the paladin, and you could also add in grenade launchers.
-You should make it so that if a player gets 3 kills in a row or something , you get to call in a helicopter,plane, or a bomb of some sort.
