Mansion Murderer 0.54 Beta

Mansion Murderer is not your average murderer map. This game is far more fast paced than other murderer maps and instead of only having the goal of "run away & hide", the players can also gather various items, attempt to kill the murderer and try to find the mansion key and then escape the mansion.

Gameplay
One of the players (chosen randomly) is the murderer and his goal is to kill everyone else.
The other players must survive, find the mansion key and then escape through the front door (at the start).

There is a timer displaying the killers life at the upper right corner of the screen. Once this timer reaches zero, the killer dies and the game ends. When the killer kills somebody the timer resets to 3min (unless he has more time remaining).

The game ends when all victims are either dead or have escaped the mansion or when the killer dies.



- Custom chat system

Normal chat messages are floating texts above your unit.
You can also shout to all players by typing "-s" at the start of your message. However, shouts are anonymous.

- Quick-communication skill

No need to stop and type the basic stuff anymore.
You can just click on the icon and blurt out the "Hi", "Who are you?", "HELP!", "OH NOES!", etc... phrases

- Many items scattered around the mansion

Weapons, armor, weird mushrooms... They can save your life!

- Every weapon and armor can be seen on the wearer

Attachments!

- Game and Player statistics at the end of the game.

The whole course of the game will be revised at the end. The revision will show who was chosen as the murderer, who killed who, and also personal stats for each player (such as kills, items used, status)

- Custom user interface & loading screen

- Custom background music

Make sure to turn your wc3 music and sound on!

- Blood effects & Sound effects

When your character is low on health he will bleed. When your character is very low on health he will bleed more and express his pain with sound effects

- Custom lightning models & fog to make the mansion dark & ominous

You'll probably need to switch off the lights in your room to see properly

- Creatures that wander around the mansion trying to kill everyone

Don't even try to fight them without a weapon. Unless you really want to spectate

- Random murderer chosen every time!

It could be YOU!

- The mansion key is always hidden at a different location!

See how fast you can find it!

- Secret rooms

Actually they're very easy to find. Just keep your eyes open for levers sticking out of bookshelves

- Spectator mode

Once dead, you can use the left and right arrow keys to switch between players you wish to spectate

- Anti-camp system

Don't sit in one place for more than 15 seconds or you will face a nasty surprise!

- Anti-spam system

If you spam, you will be silenced for up to one minute.



Q: What kind of game is this?
A: A murderer game. One player is the killer and must kill others. The others must find the key and escape the mansion or kill the killer or wait until the killers time runs out.

Q: How many keys are there? Where are the keys?
A: There is only one key and it is always at a random location. However there can be fake keys that look like the real one but they do not open the gate.

Q: How many killers are there?
A: One. He is chosen randomly

Q: What happens if killer dies?
A: The other players (that are still alive) will win the game. But if the killer dies very early in the game (before 3 minutes of gameplay), another killer will be chosen.

Q: I can't see anything!!
A: Switch off the lights from your room and you should be able to see just fine. Also make sure your brightness settings are reasonable.

Q: How to change camera?
A: The camera is locked to your unit and you cannot change that (at least not in the current version).
Besides, if the camera would be like the default wc3 camera there wouldn't be any challenge or feeling to the game.

Q: How do I know if I'm the killer?
A: You're told in the beginning of the game. Also, if you find your character having the skill "Killer Form" and "Shadow Run" then you most definately are the killer.

Q: How to shout?
A: Just type "-s <your message>"

Q: What if the killer finds the key?
A: Doesn't matter. The killer cannot pick up the key and it is indestructible.

Q: Where can I get a weapon?
A: They can be found on the floor scattered around the mansion

Q: Is this map protected?
A: No, from version 0.49 onwards this map is open source for anyone to edit!


1) Like said before, switch off the lights in your room to be able to see properly
2) Keep an eye out for various items scattered around the floor. They can save your life!
3) If you're the killer, use human form to travel faster and collect items
4) If you die, don't leave the game. You can stay and spectate the other players and learn from them. Also, after the game you can see the game and player statistics

Kitabatake finally you get some need of your 1500000000 models

here comes a rating for that i could test in single player:
(+) your using own resources
(+) i like your terrian ETC. doodads
(+) the mansion i big.. to big ^^'
(=) remove some zombie there is to many
(=) Suggestion single player mod
(-) zombie do not feel like zombies
okay i give a 3/5 + fun to wander around 4/5

That was fixed with the update; creature count reduced from 5 to 4

I have been planning such a feature. You would have to survive in the mansion, find the key and then escape.
And you would have all the creeps and the killer after you...

But that is for a later version

okay i give a 3/5 + fun to wander around 4/5
Renamed them to "creatures" and I'm thinking of making them a skin to make them look creepier. But we'll see about that in later versions...

Real Fun map to play even thou i dont like killer gamez =D but this one wuz awesum =D. i got a Request from u can u make me a AshBringer Model cus there arent any ANYWHERE and i cant model XD.
 
Needs sounds
Press Ctrl+S to hear them (Ctrl + M for music). Also make sure your speakers are turned on and that there are no earplugs in your ears.
and use BLACK minimap instead of picture.
You can switch the minimap black by pressing one of the buttons next to the minimap.
But I might do this on a later version
Map size COULD be smaller
I don't see how that would affect anything. Unless you mean the size of the actual mansion, but it's not that large really.
I'm actually thinking of adding more floors to it on later versions. However, the floors would be optional and the host could set them inaccessible in the beginning of the game.
and terrain is almost same on everywhere. Could use some stairs or such.
There will be stairs once I have made more than one floor.
Do you have any other suggestions regarding the terrain?
And Fresh Meat > Raakaa lihaa.

Update

The map has been updated!

New features:

  • Night vision skill for murderer (passive, only works in murderer form)
    • The murderer can now see a lot better in the dark (thanks to Viikuna for the suggestion)
  • More sounds
    • The creatures and murderer now utter gibberish more often
  • Less creatures
    • Creature count reduced from 4 to 3.
  • More life time for murderer
    • Murderer has now 7 minutes in the beginning and whenever he kills somebody, his time resets to 4 minutes (unless he has more remaining).

It's a sequel to Elevator Murderer and has a lot more features compared to it's predecessor.

I don't know how to remove the white square.

Yeah the Finnish one sounds a lot better, that's why I'm using it!
 
Ah yes...

But that isn't a black image, that is a corrupted image.
Completely black image -> the minimap is black, but the white square still visible
Corrupted image -> minimap completely black

I like it, played it once now, and i got picked as the murderer at once.
Only thing i dont like is how small it is, the game lasted for 5 minutes and after killing 5-7 guys one escapes and i lose, and another thing is the doors, they were kinda messed up at first, but then i got a hang of it ^^

Probably not. The murderer can switch to normal form and shadow run a lot faster than other people can walk anyway.

Make a game mode without time limit since sometimes you cant get a full house and games get really short.
I think I'll make that an option in one of the later versions

Mansion Murderer 0.38 Beta is an interesting "tag" styled map. Basically there is a killer and humans in a locked up mansion. The goal of the humans is to find a key hidden somewhere and escape, and the killers goal is to kill all the humans. The killer can disguise himself as one of the humans. The mansions itself throws some NPC-s at the humans to deal with.

The idea of the map may not seem to original, however the author manged to make it that way. It was really something refreshing.

The terrain was decent, average. The atmosphere created was great, however it was to repetive and that did become boring. A second floor, perhaps a basement should be added. That would bring the game on an entire new factor. And is the fog really necessary? I mean the dungeon red one, I think it looks a bit odd.

The Object Editor work should have been better. A lot of missing, I mean really a lot of missing or no hotkeys. The entire chat system hotkeys didn't work at all. Better descriptions of items perhaps and coloured names could be used.

What I also didn't like is a thing that could be improved perhaps. When someone says something, the text stays at the place he said it, it doesn't follow the one who said it. I don't know can you make this MUI, you should try atleast.

It was fun playing it I must add. It was a bit thrilling and interesting, running around, bumping on the zombies and the killer then running from them.

The packaging of the map is good, used everything properly with the addition of images.

I must say a good map, however it missed that something special that could make it great. If you expect me to say what it is, I really can't. I can just say you should vary the terrain more and fix the hotkeys. We shall see how this will develop.

Approved with a 3/5 (Useful) rating.

Oh I forgot must people who play this map with me. Suggest making a round system. IE When game is over it resets. Since games are short as it is.

There is no version 1.33 yet, but I believe you mean the version 0.33 which is participating in the Speed Mapping Contest #1.

Maybe you can improve the cam a bit or give a way to unlock cam, as sometimes the your view can be block (e.g while your standing in between 2 shells of book)
I think the camera is as good as it can be at the moment. If the camera would be unlocked, the game wouldn't be as immersive and challenging.

Note #1: It is NOT recommended to set both rounds and lives to max value
Note #2: It is NOT recommended to set both amount of creeps to "more than plenty" and strength of creeps to "infernal"

A great map that is very atmospheric, probably the most atmospheric map I have ever played!
I loved the zombies, they look great and really make this map nice and creepy.
The dark feel helped immensely, but I think you should maybe tune it down a little bit, it may cause eyestrain.
Also, why does the camera suddenly panning up when going into another room, it was very disorienting :p
Lastly, the quick communication feature, while still being a good touch, seems a little bit pointless

This was suggested by some people (Mainly tonttu-mies if I remember correctly) to avoid accidentally running back and forth between rooms.

I got some idea, why not make the mansion into more spooky haunted mansion? example like, dummy chair suddenly move when human passing through? or maybe some dummy transparent human walking around?

I found that your mushroom item icon are all the same? and I notice that you have put some road sign inside the mansion that showing that direction to which room, I realize that not much people would click on it and even bother. How about change into, when someone go into that room, display a message example, entering "room a"

Maybe you could have a single ability that creates a Message calling for help/notifying people that the player has seen/been attacked by the killer

PZZT: make chests which like 1/3 are haunted and it will attack if you try to open it and others will give items, Chests spawn at random point... places where they wont block
ill try to get some suggestions while playing :D

Hmm yeah I might make some containers...
But I'm not going to add any "heroes" to the game as it would alter the gameplay too much. Besides, the victims can kill the murderer if they are tactical.

Maybe they can use some kinda like traps against murder? Like drop lustre on its head?
And about "Hero". It can be a priest that came just in time to save inocent people from evil curse? It's the same as others victims, but it also has a bottle with holy water (Powerfull item that can be used 3 times) and cast excorcism that slows creatures and killer.
