- Malevolent Redeemer -

~ Version 1.2 ~

{ Cinematic Time }
5:30 (approx)

Story
Jelme would like to think of himself as the humans' redeemer, yet he despises them. They cry out to him for redemption and he redeems them, yet no rewards are bestowed upon him.

Each night Jelme sleeps in the gutters, nobody willing to house him. He does not know why society rejects him but he continues to struggle through the centuries saving humans.

He decides to take action after years upon years of torment...

I Cannot reveal more, because it would ruin the story, but sufficed to say significant events unfold.

Features
~ Deep and involving storyline. You will have to pay attention to understand it.
~ Highly polished visuals. Things you may not find (such as footsteps in time with the music) are hidden inside.
~ All spoken dialogue is actually spoken.
~ Custom skins made specifically for this map.
~ It manages to have a good storyline and still be entertaining (so it isn't like Transformers 2 but nor is it like Superman Returns).
~ No grammatical errors whatsoever. None.

Malevolent Redeemer is a cinematic about a self proclaimed redeemer who has helped the humans in the past, but decided to change that habit. The cinematic was overall well done, the story was a bit complex and I didn't fully understand all of it. The terrain looked good except that the forest areas could've used some more environmental doodads. Finally, the camera work which also was good, even though some cameras moved a bit choppy, so to say.

Approved with a 3/5 (useful) rating

This cinematic has piqued my curiosity. Lemme see if it's as nice as i think it is.

SPOILER

o_O Well, Im confused by this. At some parts of the cinematic it used voices of Wc3 units and some others. I really hated that fact. Oh and by the way, When that guy said " Bandits, Run! " There's only one bandit. Lol.

Terrain - 5/5

I thought this cinematic was really really good due to the terrain, Very well detailed.

Camera - 3/5

I rate this average because sometimes it's movement was kinda nice while some other time's it got kinda choppy.

Music & Sound effect - 3/5

When that guy said he was sick of the humans, The music was really SUDDEN, It startled me since its night time here. On my point of view i think it was best suited for a less serious music. Cause it sounded like there was war starting.

Story - 2/5

I was really confused at this. A short story about a man's? life who was rotting in the streets who was trying to help people. And then decides to then destroy them, Its all so straight forward.

SFX - 3/5

It was kinda good enough when he started going super saiyan, But with those large lightning bolt strikes, And no shockwave? And it was so close to that guy. There could've been some kind of thunder clap to leave a mark at where it struck. Also that glow was still with him when he went to the graveyard.

3/5

I wasn't really a fan of this, But please, Don't take this seriously since its my point of view. So please don't be offended.

EDIT: Whoops, I forgot that my rating was wrong, Sorry.

1) Description - A fine example of packaging even though some people might deemed the packaging to be ugly.

2) Terrain & Fog - The terrain are nicely done, so does the fog. But, the forest could be more lively.

3) Camera & Scripting/Triggering - I notice some camera movement isn't that smooth most of the time, try fix that. The scripting isn't that good either. Instead of making soo much action of game text just to have the text appear at the middle of the screen, you could have used custom script for it.

Also, it lack some basic setup.

4) Animation & Special Effect - As far as I seen, the animation usage was good and the sfx seems to be acceptable (Even though it might seems to be overused)

5) Music & Sound - The music seems to be fitting, but I notice most of the time it was end all of the sudden instead of slowly fade in. Apart from that, there is a scene without any music for it.

As for the sound, the sound effect seems to be ok and the voice done by character are taken from warcraft 3. Thus, it cannot be anything wrong with it. However, it was a bad idea to have him use Arthas voice all of the sudden.

Overall, the quality are rather high apart from the minor flaw at music and sound. I certainly recommend this cinematic for those who would like to watch a rather high quality movies. As for the replayability values, it might be average to good since it contain some humors. The humors might let some people go lol, but it might also let some people get the feeling of "FAIL".

Regardless of how the impression it would left, this material are certainly a 4/5 (Recommend) material. Keep up the good work.

I knew there would be some people who don't understand the story. I had multiple testers and they all understood it but i guess it is kinda sophisticated. If a large number of people don't understand the story i will make a site which describes it.

For version 1.1 I will be fixing the camera smoothness btw.

I wonder who will waste his time to go to site and read the story :con:
Why just not make fancy scene that shows more?

Malevolent Redeemer is a cinematic about a self-proclaimed redeemer who gets tired of the humans selfishness and decides to really "redeem" them. The map follows the Hive's map submission rules, is scanned for viruses, doesn't crash and has a very good description here at the Hive.

The cinematic was rather entertaining, even though the storyline was a bit complex and I didn't really understand all of it. Without spoiling anything, I can say that some of the scenes were really good, especially the last one at the waterfall.

The camera work was good and there was lots (without becoming too much) of camera movement going on which made the cinematic feel less stiff. Some cameras weren't moving so smoothly, but they majority of them did.

The terrain was also quite good. The height variation, tile variation, doodads etc. were all nicely combined to form a really nice terrain. My only suggestion is to add some more environmental doodads to the forest to make it look more lively.

All in all, this cinematic meets all of the criteria needed for approval and is overall a good example of a decent cinematic.

Voted for approval with a 3/5 (Useful) rating.

Just to let you know i wasn't actually going to do that, but if more people don;t understand the story I'll just make a trigger comment and u can read it in world editor.

Hmmmmm, so i should make the music less scary just in case it startles somebody? I changed the music for that scene anyway just to let you know. When you said "It sounded like war was starting", well, it kinda was, he was running around exploding children, I mean, it kinda does call for some 'serious' music.

Keep in mind I'm not angry, I'm just trying to prove my point.

Cameras are intended to be stationary at certain points to allow the viewer to read the text at that particular time. Most of the time the text where the camera is stationary is important.

Story was not complex, it was just one big cliche

One hated weird magic man with his animal is trying to help people, and they chase him.

story-nothing original, 1/5

Terrain was average, nothing bad, nothing hearthbreaking.

Camera was the worst thing, it was not smooth. View is stopped for few sec somewhere, and then suddenly goes elsewhere, that looks ugly, more "apply camera for 0 sec" can help

Music was ok, just that blizzard-made dialoges doesnt fit. Once it is muted, and then dabing is used, thats confusing, very very much.

Well in essence yes, that is the story. However would you like to tell me where is that same premise is used?

Not going to argue with you, clearly an opinion based response.

Yes I didn't like the camera work either, I found messing around with the camera timing to be incredibly tedious.

I don't understand the second sentence, but again, that is an opinion based response.

Review:(in my opinion)
Story:5/5,the dialogs were well written and the story was also cool^^
Effects/Sounds:4/5,You used alot of effects and also custom music, yet it was ugly when Jelme used an arthas sound dialog...
Camera:5/5,i could see everything ,that i needed to see^^
Terrain/Environment:4/5,the landscape was beautiful, yet it was sometimes too flat. You should fix that.
Overall:18/20,I hope that you will make a sequel or at least update this one^^Good work!

3/5.
He had no right to interfere in the lives of humans and think of himself as saviour. He also had no right to get angry and kill innocents.
Was that a small stone that killed the wolf? I thought it was quite huge, even bigger than the dog's head.
People are people and they're not the same. Some understand, some don't. Overall, it's their needs and carpe diem that matter.
