Map Info:

A remake of an old map I made years ago. Since the beginning of my time playing Warcraft, the Burning Legion has always been my favorite race. This fueled my desire to make a fully functional race that I felt captured the essence of the Dark Titan's forces. I felt that I didn't quite hit the mark with my old map and so I spent quite some time making this map in order to get it right. Immersion is important, so I wanted to make a race that was accurate to the lore as much as possible. I feel like I have achieved that and am now comfortable in releasing this map.

The only thing I can think of is to see if your wc3 is fully up to date. The map was saved under the latest patch. If it is, then I'm not sure, it works perfectly fine for me.

But are you considering to work a little bit on other races?

You mean, the original 4 races? Or new ones?

that's the problem i dont have the latest patch.Also how about adding more races ?I see it was metioned before.Faceless ones for example

Ok, the only think that i can write is BEST BURNING LEGION MAP EVER (I have played a few custom legion maps before, like Ujimasa and Sunreaver's ones) but you really nailed it, i mean, the units, buildings, abilities, everything is as i imagined how the Legion faction would work, crap, i feel like i was invading the whole world XD, i was afraid that this faction would be OP, but it's pretty well balanced, i enjoyed A LOT playing this map, plenty of creeps and places to expand, great work on this Skyfira 5/5
*Btw, i don't have the last patch installed but it work pretty well for me :v
*The only "bug" was the succubus icon, wich when disabled (before i can research the upgrades to train them) looks too bright, like a passive button instead, everything else is perfect! ♥

Well, I am planning on expanding on the map, but nothing concrete yet. But yes that would definitely include more races.

Oh yes and I forgot.You should add fel reavers.That would be EPIC!!!

Ohhh nice epic faction everything was well made. Too much eye candy to me and the mechanics well I haven't fully played the faction yet because I got lags during mid game. Maybe too many units moving in my screen idk.

Hmm, I'm not sure what might be causing lag for you. I tested the map with 12 players and let it sit for a full hour and the only time I lagged was when all 12 forces had a full army.

3. I suggest modifying Rage further as it really is a standard Warcraft III ability right now. Same with Lash of Pain.
4. Turning every demon's attack type to Chaos, I don't know... kind of powerful, is it not?
5. I suggest moving the Potion of Sargeras to the third or at least second tier.
6. Execution is kind of like Transmute without any gold gain and can be used on above level 5 units, I guess. Doom would have been nicer left on the Pit Lord. It was moved on the Doomlord...
7. Well, Firebolt? I mean... not even modified at all? Sunder=Banish, totally. At least Shackle is a non-damage dealing Aerial Shackles which can be used on ground units.
8. I'm thinking that Fel Mine should be limited like say how the Owl is for the Huntress or the Spider Mine for the Vulture in StarCraft (3 charges only per unit).
9. What other ways of/for magic resistance are there aside Resistant Skin and other default Warcraft III abilities? Actually I suggest taking all other spells from the Terrorguard since its ascend-descend is quite the useful spell.
10. I suggest Mana Burn for the Dreadstalkers for level 3 or at least 2. It would be better to progress with one spell at a time. Try something else instead of Resistant Skin, something somewhat original.
11. Fel Spike can be used to block ways as it has a hero sized selection circle and lasts for quite some good seconds.
12. Inquisitor's Eye is a bit overpowered. It does not eve take food like the Shade. Sure, it's temporary but it's invisible.
13. Hmm, I'm thinking if reducing the food to 1 for the Bat is balanced.
14. Shouldn't the Shivarra and Wrathguard upgrade work like the Beserker which transforms all existing Headhunters to Berserkers? Or, make the Shivarras become melee or something when they have four hands wielding swords.
15. Well, the Dreadlord already has Infernal, why not have the skyship spawn something else, maybe even flying units?
16. Match begins faster :D?

The Demon look is quite pretty.
The map layout is kind of chaotic for a melee map. However, it is not ugly and somewhat interesting with season variations. Bad side is, players will have to memorize every part. I guess you can just hop this mod (object data) to any map.

Thank you for reviewing my map! I can tell that you spent quite a long time looking at all the details and I appreciate that. I'll go over the suggestions you made:

1. This was such a simple fix that I'm surprised I didn't catch it. It's fixed now. I'll update the map soon.

2. Also fixed.

3. I'll address this at suggestion 7.

4. I completely agree. Chaos damage is pretty powerful and so originally I had considered not putting this upgrade in. But after giving it some thought I really felt like Chaos damage is such an integral part of the Legion's identity that ultimately I decided to keep it in. I gated it by all the other upgrades as well as a long research time in order to ensure that the research was only capable during late-game.

5. I could try nerfing the duration little. The duration is short because I wanted the potion to be more of an emergency potion to give your hero a chance to get out of a bad situation.

6. To be perfectly honest, I'm not particularly satisfied with Execution and the Pit Lord's arsenal in general. I think the other heroes have more to offer so I'll be working to make the Pit Lord a more desirable choice.

7. I felt like 3 and 7 were pretty similar so I thought I'd answer them together. I understand that these spells are very simple and not the most exciting. A lot of these units actually had some more intricate spells but during the development process I just felt like it was a little too much and altogether way too flashy and complex. So I toned it down and simplified them to what they are now. While firebolt isn't anything new, it isn't used by any of the other 4 base races and I thought it fit the Eredar's arsenal. Sunder was just my way of making a Jailer form of Banish with its own icon and tool tip. It was my intention to give them Banish but I wanted to make it more fitting as Jailers manipulate the soul. So in all honestly, renaming it and changing its icon is purely meant for immersion.

8. I thought about doing this too. I couldn't figure out how to though as sentinel, as far as I know, is the only spell that has charges. If the Fel Mine is a little over-tuned I'll consider either nerfing the damage or increasing the cooldown.

9. I think the only magic resistances, are resistant skin, spell immunity, avatar and anti-magic potion (outside of triggers). Ascend and Descend is the main power of the Terrorguard but I felt it wasn't enough when you could easily build Felbats for anti-air and Wrathguards or Mo'Args for melee. Resistant Skin was meant to carve its own niche. It isn't the strongest ground unit or the best air but the combination of being both a ground and air unit and having innate resistances to certain spells makes it worth training.

10. I originally had it so it was 2 Dreadstalkers. Level 2 was Feedback and level 3 was Resistant skin. But then it ended up being exactly like Feral Spirit. I definitely liked the Mana Burn idea and thought about it myself. I was concerned it might be too much micro-management.

11. This is completely intended. I felt it would make for some interesting game play choices.

12. I could reduce the duration. I was thinking maybe it lasted for too long. Or I could remove the invisibility and increase its health slightly to compensate.

13. The gold and lumber cost remains the same and they can only attack air. You could choose to mass them but it won't get you very far in my opinion.

14. Well, when Berseker is researched, they are technically still troll headhunters, but they upgraded. Felguards cant evolve into Wrathguards, and Succubus can't evolve into Shivarra. As for Succubus and Shivarra not being melee. I felt that it was best to follow the other races (except night elves) where the first basic unit is melee and the second one is a non-caster ranged unit. Out, of all the demons, Succubus and Shivarra were the best candidates for that. I got the idea from WoW (I think it was MoP expansion), where the Succubus and Shivarra were ranged pets for the warlock, so I felt it would work.

15. The Dreadlord has a Fel Reaver ;) Jokes aside, Rain of Chaos was meant to be a spell used for ground units and Eradication Field was meant for air units. Also, the burning legion severely lacks aerial demons; only Felbats, Terrorguards/Doomguards, and Command Ships and I already have all of those covered. Well, there's also Aranasi but I haven't found anything for that but WoW Rips.

16. I reduced the selection time to 15 seconds. I think that shouldn't be too long.


Anyways, again I really do appreciate your review. I felt it was very fair and thorough. I will continue to work on the map and I hope you'll continue to play it! =)

Wow the map is super cool but if you could add doom guards for the race of the demons will be x2 if you could add doom guards and demons eredar will be super cool one of the best maps of hive:p:p:p:p:cool:

- There are deadly triggers causing leaking and overload the memory that we will find the reason and will notice you once they found out.

That's perfectly fine. You can do as you see fit in order for it to work with your map. However, considering a lot of those models were edited in order to present the map I have now, I consider them as representative of my work. I only ask that you make note of this in your map and, as always, credit the original creators of the resources you choose to use. =)

There are no point merge this faction if you gonna change the model, this is already the best looking burning legion faction ever exist. This is how the Legion faction should look and work. You basicly coming and try ruining somebody else work by changing what they putting in this map.

I didn't expect much from this, but the moment I tried it, all my doubts were out.

It's one of those few rare maps where the author went "too far", in a good way, to make a race. Plays so nicely, many things to have but no quantity-over-quality and "special purposes". It's great!

Hope to see more racemaps from you! :piru:
