MiniMage: Actually, you know what? This thing is awesome. The length could be a little longer and the hand guards doesn't make much sense as reinforced gauntlets would offer the same protection while making the weapon more versatile. Nevertheless, I'm approving this.

Looks neat. Although doesn't naginatas generally be longer?
Yeah, usually, but I thought if I were to make the blade longer it would look weird with all that lava and stuff...
Whow! I really like this one, really cool!

maybe add a pic of it in game attached so we can see how it looks on the villager since their are two handles (for those who are lazy)
Actually the "handles" are purely cosmetic. Since villagers can not wield 2h weapons, they will just hold in the middle of the handle. :/

try testing that on a fel-fiend or however that big red orc-y thing is called, or on a myrmidon or royal guard. that would be a good weapon for them, with some angle tweaking

I was actually referring to the "staff" portion of the model.
As for the hand guards. A Naginata is basically the japanese equivalent to a viking spear.

It's a sword blade tip fitted onto a spear. Although a viking spear is a little bit versatile as the spear tip can be used as a sword if the staff breaks. Anyhow, back on track. I would recommend the hand guard closest to the blade to either be edited into a reinforcement to the staff, or the staff being made longer. The staff would approximately be as long as the staff would've been if the distance between the two handguards become added to the actual length it has now. And to compensate for the length, the handguards would thus have to be moved back a bit. These kinds of weapons are designed to work in both medium and close range, so I would strongly recommend making it longer.

The versatility of the Naginata is simple in how close your hands are to the actual blade. The closer it is, the easier it is for you attack in close combat. If you move your hands far away from the blade, your weapon suddenly becomes a medium range weapon, you can essentially move a person backwards while standing still on your location. It was an ideal weapon for guards. By moving your hands up and down, attacking and defending. Adjusting a close range into a medium range. These guards were often accompanied by archers as well. This is also why I was confused by the hand guards at first. XD

Looks neat and you did great on your choice of textures, you did very well on keeping a reasonably low polycount and you did okay for the most part on UVW wrapping (their is a part on the blade where the wrap is messy but its not visible from game view) and the only thing id add to it is maybe a longer blade and some particle flame effect that falls down from the blade as lava.
4.5/5 ~ 5/5

I love it, but you should either lengthen the blade or make it less wide, as right now it simply looks fat. I understand that most naginatas have short blades, but some of them do have longer blades just as most polearm weapons vary, so you'd be able to lengthen the blade and still get away with it.

If you do decide to make the blade thinner rather than longer to fix its proportions to not look as fat, you'd have to rewrap the blade so that the unmelted stone portion can still be noticed, though.

4/5.
