Kodo Tag: X-Treme 6.2

If you don't know how to play Kodotag you've missed something:

You will spawn on a map with a single unit, which has only one hitpoint. AI-Controlled Kodos will spawn on the map, chasing your runner. If he dies you will lose everything and need to rescued by another player by entering the middle of the map with his Runner. Of course there is a 50 gold reward for every rescued player.
Try to collect gold from goldmines to build workers, towers, better walls and to research new techs. For advanced techs you will need scorepoints which can only gained by killing Kodos (but are then given to each player).
The Kodos will only attack buildings when they have no other possibilities to chase you, so build long mazes. Your Runner can cross the smallest gaps, while Kodos need more space so use this to your advantage.


There are now some major changes to experienced players:
- 8 different Runners, and a special Runner which can only be accessed by choosing 'random'
- There is the second ressource which can only gained by killing Kodos and which is also important.
- An advanced options dialog which allows further customization
- Many different Kodos, with unique abilities

Changes in 6.2:
- Since nowbody played them, the 4 new areas have been removed. Only the classical terrain is available
- 3 new Kodo-Types
- 2 new Runners
- Changed and added some items
- Small fixes, tweaks and balancing


Extra:
- Map is now protected. Yes, i used to say to leave it open source, but i got tired of seeing countless different versions. Anyway, simply PM me, if you want an unprotected version. If you have some good ideas, I will have no problem giving it to you.

They should make AI Kodo-Tag. Like a melee based AI that builds their buildings and stuff or JASS scripted AIs. Love Kodo Tags and Tree Tags or some other Tags! :)

OMG! bug

I was playing with some bots and few friends on Xtreme, Suddenly somewhere 5 mins me(red) and orange alive, came "ALL YOUR BASE BELONG TO US"
the game ended.... without a reason

Amg crap version

You could at least give me a better bug-report than "OMG! bug" and "crap version" just because you ran into a bug once...

I've never experienced such a bug and I also looked into the map and didn't find a problem with the triggers, too. These triggers are more or less the same since 2.0 and worked fine all the time.

Btw: map updated.
Find the changes out yourself (not many ^^).

duh i test the new version and check is that darn bug gone, if not... i will take a screenshot

Once? it happened every game... once in first 1 minute once in last minute and so on, suddenly just comes "ALLYOURBASEBELONGTOUS"

Tested the new version and WOW, the "lose bug" dissappeard, or i think so
EDIT: oh nvm... when i died (blue was still alive) game ended... damn i hate this

Anyways, thanks for uploading the map and all that. Love playing kodo tag but this ver. is a little to easy for me though. :)

Well, a screenshot isn't much of help here. I don't know what's causing that bug for you just by seeing the losing screen.

@Rest
Map updated (again^^)
- Tried to make it a bit harder
- Kodos get a bit faster on higher difficulties
- Explode-Ability of Mini-Kodos moved to normal. Gets stonger with increasing difficulty.
- Runners are now real heroes
- Quick Game sets Timelimit to 15min and allows you then to choose the difficulty again

Well, I guess the original creator* was just annoyed to see some minor edited versions of his map, which only purpose seemed to show another name on the loading screen.

I guessed it's not a big deal to remove protection, so it is actually meant as a hint rather than a obstacle.

Besides: If anyone asks i have no probleme giving him an unprotected version, as long he has some good reasons for needing it.

Can you please be clear?
You say that you are the original creator, if that is the case - why didn't you say so from the beginning?

I have rejected the map until you can clarify this and write a better description (you must do so, those are the rules - which you have probably read :wink:).

If you refer to the footnote, that was just irony, beacuse as stated above this map is on this website since more than two years.

And the reason for the protection was, that I was annoyed when I saw a edited version of my map with only some extra triggers for chat-commands and a trigger that showed a message when a player with the name of the modifier was in the game, stating him as the original creator

But, yes I should write a better description. I never bothered much, because I thought everybody knows what Kodo Tag is.
I will do it as soon this problem is solved.

The original author of the map deserves his wishes for his map, at least.

well i have to say, this is almost perfect, except for one small thing

THE MAP

i don't know if it has been said before, but this new actual terrain is horrid, first of all too small, no chaos, no massive ass mazes that SUDDENLY fall to piece because other jerks have blocked yours, or even wacky kodos that want a good munching

anyways, at first i thought the terrain was going to be cool, i was like "Oh cool there are four different CONNECTED areas, that will be cool" then i was "oh what are those gray lines, probably nothing but i will hold onto this nagging suspicion"


oh but this is all opinion and relative to the time i had played it for, for example if i had not played it for hours on the 2.0 version map i would have been fine with teh change

New terrain

If you ask... the new terrain is fail... because divided to 4 different ones.. (not sure are all playable at same time)... old one was much better.

and the kodoscore system. waste of shit on fullhouse if you ask me...
and i let you think why...

Hmm, the thing with the Runner seems to have gone lost during the conversion from WEU. Added it to 6.1.
But the Meteor hotkey seems to work.

The terrain change was made because tha game was too easy in my opinion. Because of that the maps are smaller and contain unbuildable terrain to prevent large scaling mazes. You can only build small mazes now, forcing you to run away more often.
The Kodoscore system was also meant to increase difficulty. But I also must admit it needs still some tweaks. At least I should disable 'wood'-trade.

If you don't like the changes just play one of the older versions or play Kodo Tag: Revived by Aesthetics. It still features the classic terrain.

On a second thought it would be a nice idea to add the classic terrain as a fifth option to choose from.

Very nice job!

I really enjoyed it. What can I say, I love being chased by monstrous beasts. Somewhat hard, but that's a matter of skill and I think I might need some practise :p

Keep it up! I'd love to see more versions of this map in the future :)
