Island Conquest v1.24

Short Description: Take over the islands, build ships, make upgrades, destroy others and get allied with who you want. On every island there are resource mines. Upgrade your buildings, defense towers and shipyards to survive attacks of others. Destroy shipyards to take control of any other island. In total there are 17 different units (12 ships, 2 submarines, 3 air-crafts) and 73 islands. Ships get more powerful with upgrades so basically it's the easiest way to win. Also every ship gets experience on his own that can give it extra power.

General Rules.
-When player lose control over all his islands he is defeated and will lose all ships he had.
-Ships can earn experience through battles to increase there power. Idea is simple: 1 kill - 1 exp. Each ship has 4 levels. Ship must sink 20 opponents to reach it.
-You can make allies with everyone.
-you can't attack yourself and your allies.

Game Options:
1.Storms
A tornado constantly appears in the middle of the map and wonders around

2.All Conquered
All islands are randomly given to all players, they get 25'000 starting resources and some upgrades.

3.Main Base
Every players will have The main Shipyard which is a lot better than regular shipyards. Losing the Main Shipyard brings you defeat!!

4.Pirates
Pirates appear on islands near center once in a while. If no one is fighting pirates they will increase there numbers and occupy middle island. Once they occupy it Pirate king will appear.


Commands to use:
-up wood (upgrades all Lumber mills you have)
-up gold (upgrades all Markets you have)
-ship up (upgrades all Shipyards you have)
-a (turns on automatized build ordering for currently selected shipyards )
-x (turns off -a to currently selected shipyards)

Nice map.
I suggest u should put in food....
and u could upgrade ur fleet limit by food limit researches. cos massing the basic ship is the best tatic yet (with good tech). (hard to control so many ships and put in the production....)
also shortcuts to the wood and gold houses would be good. like u can upgrade ur lumbermill to lvl 5 and lvl 9 with one click.

I'm not shore if massing basic ships is best tactic but as it was suggested I put ship limit in v1.05. Now every ship needs 1 food to build. every shipyard gives 12 food(max level shipyard gives 24); max food is 240. So now every player must have 20 islands to have max size of fleet. Since there are 73 island only 3 players will have max number of ships at the same time (more it all shipyard is upgraded to level 5).
Also I made primitive command to upgrade wood and gold houses. Just type -up wood or -up gold to upgrade all building to next level.
More important change is that I reduced build time for all strong ships and made Guard towers upgradeable to Cannon Towers.

quite a fun game but some players were confused about how you got new islands
I suggest you make a message display at the start or in the quests that elaborates on this.

Edit: I also seem to very often get server splits when hosting this map, is this just me or is this happening to other people?

I removed memory leaks that shows up when ever you take control of any island (thanks to Hive workshop tutorials). If server splits was a result of memory leaks than it should be solved now. new leak-less trigger is a bit different in way it works so there are some changes in some islands. I didn't fully check if there are no bugs but I everything should work properly.

If server splits was a result of attack dice upgrade than now it should be solved. I removed attack dice increase. So now ship damage is increasing only with Damage Upgrade Bonus. Ships don't have min-max damage.
Other smaller change is that selected ships will sort in order from strongest to weaker.

It was really fun, until you got higher up in Tech Levels, but besides that, a great map to play.

Gold and wood upgrading commands fixed. Shipyard upgrading command is not included yet. Fixed spelling errors. Added 2 more upgrades.

EDIT:
It's been a long time since last update. So here it is with many changes. Most noticeable are that defense towers now are vulnerable and ships now are earning ranks.

Finally after all school work I updated this map. This time changes are pretty big.
First of all there are more upgrades for Lumber mill and Market so you will get more resources. Build time of all ships is reduces a little so you can spend your resources on them. Some researches are decreased as well.
Thing I forgot to mention in changes is that now neutral islands are reinforcing themselves as well so getting more islands will not be that easy anymore.
And now it's impossible to attack own units or allies

Most important change: I noticed that my income trigger made a lot of lagging (no leak, just lag) so I remade it. New trigger seemed to work well after quick check for bugs. But if you notice that you don't get as much resources as you should pleas report it.

It is to hard to keep uprading... u never get a break, u r going around and around the map to armories upgrading, there should be an auto upgrate system like the auto maket/lumber mill system.

I had this idea suggested long ago. And it's almost finished right now. I will include auto research system in next ver but it will affect only upgrades with more than 20 levels. That should be enough. update should be ready soon.
Planing a way to affect other upgrades would take more time.

Fun but you should work on the terrain a bit.
Exactly what should I do? There are much things that can be done about terrain
Make better shape for some islands; add different doodads on islands; something else...

Edit:
included command -auto tech that will upgrade Ship Armor, damage hit points, both Tower attack and defense.
I warned in game that you still need to upgrade masonry and attack speed by yourself. Latter I will think a way to put those upgrades in automatic upgrading too.
In case if automatic upgrades take too much resources you can turn off if with -tech off command

Edit: now in v1.15a auto tech command also improves masonry and attack speed.

I have tested this map once just now, and I am writing a short review about it.

Island Conquest is an interesting styled map. Your goal is to take control over one of the islands, build a fleet, and then defeat the other players, by taking on more islands.

I shall start with the terrain, that needs a lot of work. All of the islands are basically the same and that becomes boring pretty soon. The surroundings is just water. You could make some different islands, uninhabited, or with neutral shops. What this game heavily lacks are heroes, that would make it more interesting. This is just units and that isn't that interesting. What else? The grammar/spelling is horrible, containing a lot of errors that should be worked on. You should get someone to check them. The game lacks game modes that would make it more interesting to play. The ships have far to few abilities to chose from. The loading time is immense and the game tends to lag aswell.

To conclude, this map has an interesting idea, lacking some things, such as heroes, game modes and better terrain. However it is still quite fun to play, thus 3/5 (Useful) and Approved!

The can't attack allies seems to be bugged, if player 2 allies player 1, and player 1 is hostile to player 2, player 1 stops attacking.
So basically, if you're gonna die, just ally who is attacking you and you don't die.

Thanks for giving things to work on :xxd:

Right now I done:
-added fast game mode
-loading speed improved a lot (about 5 times faster on my computer). thanks for creator of Widgetizer tool
-Bug mentioned by Krzysztif should be solved now

Sadly I don't have enough free time to make hero mode (maybe in summer). May come some grammar/spelling sooner or later

Preview:

[+] Alot uprages (maybe too many :xxd:)
[+] Many ships
[+] Game modes/commands
[+/-] Alot islands but maybe too small... sometimes so small that there couldn't build anything...
[+/-] Terrain was OK
[-] Last uprages took SO long to research.
[-] Player can't build anything - just uprage&research.

Overall: 8,5/10 OR 4/5
Comments&suggestions: Maybe you should add ability for player to build also... And more modes&commands. :) But overall a good map. :thumbs_up:

thanks for rating my map!
idea about letting players to build would be good but first I should think exactly what should be buildable and for what reason.
Planing new stuff isn't easy. That's why I still didn't make hero mode.

Now I finally made a command that I wanted to implant for long time. This should make life easier for many players :D
Now it's possible to make shipyards build ships without stop (as long as you have enough resources).
Couldn't think a good name for it so it's simply -a (stands for automatic).
it will affect only those shipyards that are currently selected.

Haven't fully tested new command but it should work fine. if you find some bug tell me.

Edit:
new 1.18b version contains just a small improvements:
fixed one bug about new -a command (it also worked on enemy buildings)
improved terrain a little (added more doodads type)
checked many grammar errors
now ship description is giving information about it's hp damage and speed

great game > like the big choice of fleet and the big amount of islands to conquer, this is a game of strategy only and if you dont have a well working brain then forget to play this realy fantastic game, but it needs more improvments

new update Introduces some new units:
-Heavy tower: this tower is slightly better than arrow towers and can be built faster than cannon tower.

-Main Shipyard: Special building for Main base mode. It has more HP. Also it builds ships faster and slightly stronger. Loosing Mains shipyard will bring you defeat: all your ships will get destroyed and the killer will get all your other islands as well.
Main shipard will be seen in minimap as a gold mine.

-Invincible Juggernaut: new ultimate ship that is stronger then previous super ship (Mighty Juggernaut). However, this ship is available only in Main shipyard so it's not that easy to mass-produce.

as always I hope the new version don't bring any bugs I didn't see.

Changes of the version:
-I figured the current mode select was quite bad. I changed it to better customizable selection of game options.
-automatic building and tech commands annoyed me so I made them Dialog that can be opened with Esc key. Commands -a and -x are still in use though.
-now you can also check your income. maybe not so necessary since no one ever asked for this but every game has it :)

Changes may not sound great but it took a while set everything working for new system.
As always I'm not shore if I got rid of all bugs so please post about them if you find.


@ DarkIron Dwarf.
Pirate idea sounds good. I might give them some islands that are not normally populated. I will think about how to implant the idea.
