Incoming Tide

Incoming Tide

"This stunningly admirable peninsula was highly treasured by the great king Terenas himself. It was a quiet place, where he could spend precious time with his beloved wife. Yet, after the abolishing of Icecrown Glacier a grand flood covered the land."

This is one of my best try-outs ever.
Its a fine 1on1 map with a lot of strategic potential. I tried to find the golden mid between wonderful terrain and balanced gameplay. The idea of the map is very innovative and brings fresh wind to the wc3 scene.
Well, I hope you all will have fun and enjoy my masterpiece. ;)
Sincerly §trike

The map contains:

- 2 expos for each player (1 only reachable with zepp)
- one tavern in the mid
- 2 shops
- 2 merc-camps
- 2 goblin labs
- a lot of possibilitys for aow´s and milita-creeps and places to hide the expansion

Whats the problem? You both havent even played the map.
And why for hell I should have done the buildings smaller??? Guys, guys. Just download and open before comment on something.

And ps. for all who don´t understood it: Its a preview pic with self made symbols for neutral buildings...

Once again...why for hell I should have sized down the building if i had the time? - You think I would upload a map if there wasnt enough space to build? - Your reply is not logical.
Ive got a suggestion for you guys. Before trying to comment - please - open the map in the editor or just play it AND build an own opinion. Its completly stupid to comment a comment without watching the object.
PS. A logical reply would sound like that: "If the map have too less space to build - than he could make the map larger!" - But my map have actualy enough space to build.

And its not a insult - but I just hate such dumb comments.

Terrain 8/10, I belive it has a good terrain. This is good but i belive it can do better
Creeps 9/10, Good and Ballenced well, but the EXP gain from some mobs are not that good.
Acessability 8/10, Good map can get units around well, Good job!
Fun Factor! 7/10, It was a fun map to play, I belive though it was too easy to backstab an enemy. Still Good job!

Some problems i spotted.

1. The expansions on the hills have too little space
2. The creeps are abit too near to each other

The terrain is spot on, except for some random doodads. Good map! :)

1. Well - the small hill expansion is done so small to protect the map a bit from towerlame. Only the main building should be build there with the support of some towers. But I will make them "a tint" bigger!

2. Completly disagree - all creeps have fair distances between them. And the merc camp with the green spot allows creeping fast with aow and after it
just pump a bit more exp. I bet you know the map TS (Terenas Stand) - and the distance between the creeps there is fair. If you compare both maps now - you will notice that the distance IS actualy good enough.

I tested this map against a bot, playing night elves.

+The mix of neutrals is fairly well done
+There is enough space to build. Maybe even too much.
+Fair amount of trees
+Terrain is fairly nice

-The creeps in front of the shops have a chance to drop boots of speed. They should not be able to drop something you can buy at the shop you were creeping, imho.
-The starting locations should not be that close together, even though trees and cliffs are supposed to block the direct way. Air unit and siege laming is too easy on that point.

Will be tested further, maybe there will be some edits on this post.

Voted for approval. Would receive a 4/5 from me for now, but needs to be tested some more.

Rui's review for "Incoming Tide", a melee map by R.Gaming_Strike

I had seen this map earlier and it did catch my attention. Effectively, "Incoming Tide" is a melee map which combines both a gorgeous terrain and a well made melee scenario with all the characteristics such a piece requires. And, if that leaves a doubt on anyone, don't let it stop you from playing the map. Other than what I've said, I really don't know what to say: the landscape is fair for both players, all neutral buildings have been placed on decent locations, typical mistakes such as pathing holes in-between the trees are not present, creeps' drops are well set...There is only one drop that I think needs rectification, which is that of the Gold Mine expansion reachable only with a Goblin Zeppelin: the Red Drake drops a random lvl4 Charged item and, for the creep camp he's on, I think it's too powerful, not to mention you also have the Forest Troll Shadow Priest dropping a powerup. A lvl 3 charged should be enough.
And that's it! This is indeed a very good map! My rating is 4,5 out of 5, which rounds up to 5 (Highly Recommended). This map is set to Reviewed status.
