Icehold 2.5

Dude. I don't know if this is memory leaks or not, but that is some major lag from certain skills. Also, I assume it is because after you leave the map, there's lag too, which usually comes from leaks.
It doesn't tell you when someone leaves, which is a terrible thing. I think it needs some grammar fixes and A LOT of Hero editing because some are simply just pathetic compared to others.

Otherwise, the idea is good and it is fun at times, but I wouldn't play it at the moment due to the lag it creates (especailly from that moving water thing from the water elemental hero). It has potential, but right now, it could use a lot of improvements for something that is version 2.1.

Hey there i played your map with my brothers...

There are so many things to do.

Dont make new heroes... (yet) There are lots of skills that are bugged or useless.

It takes soooo long to get a lot of gold for very simple items.
The incinerate only makes creep xplode (i think) and the xplosion doesnt seem to hurt close enemies.

The best item i've seen so far is the green scepter for the mana regen...

Potions are just useless because they are expensive and the gold gain per creep is cheap.

Theres no good mana regen (besides the green scepter) briliance aura doesnt increase much for its cost.

All heroes suffer from mana regen mana pots just give 150 mp.. when medium level spells cost 200+

also the secret shop has mayor expensive items, if i ever get the gold i think they would be useless too.

well theres a lot more.. check the map yourself with anyone

Well unless you play with cheats and always the same friends and same 3 heroes...

as i told you some heroes are Imba overpowererd and some are totally useless

(playing right now)The doom mage (or something, skeleton mage model) says theres 10%chance a kill becomes skeleton while doom field is on.

well my bro played with him and in like 20 mins playing not even 1 skeleton or summon or use to his spells.. the only one working was the area that reduced damage.

I already described the bugs and flaws, dont just give me an answer, learn a bit of english too, you suggest 5 players, but you play with 3 to test?... it's imbalanced.
Also you start with 300 gold, im killing by myself all creeps wave 1 and i get a total of 346 + 300start = 646 1 player, so if more players are in with luck i can make like 50g in round 1... if I buy mana pots, its 300 - 170 = 120 i get 5 pots that give 150 mana.
Doom field cost 165 at lvl 4 (hero lvl 8) that means i have to drink all pots to cast 3 times a skill that hasn't worked once yet?

You can do a lot for this map, maybe even an area to farm with constant creeps spawning every min or so.

if 5 players are killing only 1 or 2 will be able to make 1 good item from shops... my bro saved all his gold just to build the incinerate and find out it does almost nothing for the costs.

Make Items cost effective, it takes a lot and other players to give you gold to build a 2000 gold item that only maybe works.

balance item prices. you have to play until like round 30 to get 30 gold per creep so after 2 or 3 rounds killing all yourself.

I played once with the storm panda, skills were ok... Ulti was meh.. normal skills were much better than ultimate, i killed a lot y made the item "scourge" a lot of gold, 3000 gold only the recipe, another 1000 for the wood shield, and another lot for the armor. so its like 5000 gold for an item that didnt seem to work, because it blocks like 50dmg %chance when creeps are doing 300 chaos dmg.

If you spent all the gold in mana pots 170G x 5 mana pots 150 mana each = 750 mana... well with 5 pots you can only cast like... 3 spells... depending on heroes, and skill level.

creeps for quests are imba too, water are the easiest, invis are easy too, but towers and vanguards (10K hp like 300+chaosdmg + in groups of 2 or 3+) are unkillable without cheats.

Also when playing with the storm panda, it was fine until at high level I got 1 level of forked lightning, when i casted it, "*Critical Error*" 50+ mins of game lost. and is not the only time it happened.

once we got critical error just starting the game.

*There Are a lot of Typos (Grammar errors etc) like "Itens" ( ITEMS ) "sen me" (SEND ME) etc, etc, etc.

Man im triying to help you make this "good map" a "Great Map"

i'll fix latter the grammar errors
the doom field really dsome times don't for me i was thinking to replace it for other spell, but i already made at leat 10 skeletons playing with him
i liked the ideia of a farming area i think i'll do this
i'll fix some things later, like the incinerate, i'll add more AoE and damage to it, and i think i'll chage his price too
i'm thinking in remake all items prices, and add more iems that gives more mana regeneration, or i can increase the bounty gieved by units when they die

I'd Gladly play and test your map with the new fixes, items, areas, skills, etc...

Another idea, maybe you could give a chance like 1-5% chance that creeps drop healing or mana pots and make this give 300 mana at least.
also add kinds like light - medium - strong - massive / mana / healing / elixir

These days ppl like Dota-like Items, you could always find help for the items.

If i knew how i'd help you. but i have no idea, sorry XD.

Icehold 2.5 is an Hero Defense map, where you seize control over one hero and you fight waves of attacking creeps with your allyes. Your goal is to protect your main building until the last wave.

This is a shorter version of my review, I won't go into the full since we didn't finish the map.

To start, I must mention that the terrain is done badly. You didn't use any dodoads, it was just a bunch of walls and tiles. The surrounding areas were the same way aswell. The hotkeys were a big mess aswell, in the Taverns some heroes had the same hotkeys, some abilities on the same hero had the same hotkeys aswell. The tooltips were done badly, some not shoeing the damage amount of the spell. Most of the items were just Dota items, with different names and stats. You weren't original in that part. The aggro was quite a problem, because the main building took it sometimes, instead of us, and in all Defense maps, players should take all the aggro when alive. The main building regeneration rate is slow, and considering it takes aggro it should be increased, or the aggro should be removed. The gold gain rate is very slow, I merely got enough gold after a wave to buy potions, and that's when only 2 of us played. Imagine when it's full house. I see some of the people who commented your map mentioned some bugs, that's a minus aswell.

In conclusion, just another Hero Defense map, with no originality in it. It lacks quite some things, such as working hotkeys and better terrain. No matter all of the problems, my vote still is: 2/5 and Approval.

I am reviewing version 2.5 of "Icehold", a map by Skizzik.

In this map, you select a hero and defend a building, in the center of the map. You have a few items available for purchasing, including Potions of Health which will be critical for the heroes' survival.

I like original things, and this map is somewhat original, but I was not happy to see that some items were copied from "DotA Allstars", or their statuses were.

This is yet another map that offers no single-player compatibility, and does not have the number of players into account – a downside.
These things are pretty easy to fix, in my opinion. Simply check which players are controlled by a user, save it in an integer variable, and use it to balance the number of creeps spawned.

The terrain could have been a little more interesting: ground texture variation, elevation... it was all too homogeneous. Try to change that.

Finally, the object editor work is not of quality. The descriptions could have been enchanted to look better, but more than that, the wrong icons need to be fixed. The Thunder God's passive ability has a disabled icon for the passive ability. And speaking of it, it is annoying that you have to target in order to make it work – it's a common problem with the Orb of Slow.
There were another small things, such as the lady who sells the potion having an ubersplat (the Barracks' ground texture).


All in all, the map has potential and plenty of room for improvement. My rating is, until it has been improved, of 2/5 (Lacking). The status will be set to Approved.
