High Elf Archmage (Re-Classic)

High Elf Archmage by Footman16
From Wowpedia said:
Archmagi (or arch magi and archmagus (singular)) are a type of powerful caster that represent the pinnacle of magical power. Most archmagi hail from the magical kingdom of Dalaran but can be found among other groups as well. Weaving their intricate enchantments, these mages defend their people with all the magical powers at their disposal.
So after making my High/Blood Elf Swordsman (Re-Classic) I was thinking what other Reforged assets don't have an SD equivalent and so came up with the High Elf Archmage. This is my attempt to make that 1:1 replacement. Not going to lie, the Archmage texture isn't that fun to work with its just mostly horse and head. In order to get the best results I suggest you use the linked model below in order to remove the High Elf Archmage's flesh moustache. It also allows you to use this texture with the original.

Anyone on the Hive's discord might have seen the various WiPs I posted and so can attest to it being all completely freehand! (Except for the hands and inside of the mouth so 98% freehand)

The picture I used for inspiration was this one:

HEArchmage.mdx
HEArchmage_portrait.mdx

To import with model:
Import the .mdx model file:
War3MapImported\HEArchmage.mdx
War3MapImported\HEArchmage_portrait.mdx

Import the Texture and remove War3mapImported\
So it look as follows:
HEArchmage.blp

To import without model:
Import the Texture and remove War3mapImported\
So it look as follows:
Units\Human\HeroArchMage\HeroArchMage.blp

Before you read about my review for Footman's High Elf Archmage, this texture might work for the original model but you will end up with flesh moustache instead.

Well.. Given this need a custom model of archmage that doesn't have fleshtache issue maybe can be replaced with just extra beard to fit the original model. This skin did wrap the whole thing and enough free-hand to be approved. Although since this is a custom model anyway, you can give him elf ears too.
But this skin suffer lack of lightings or not enough shadow despite the color choices. Contrast is probably this skin main issue because texture wise is good. The horse is one beautiful bois.

+ Free-hand Texture.
  • Decent Wrap
  • Close 1:1 High Elf Archmage.

- Lack highlights/shadows.
  • Need minor model changes for this skin to function.

Rating: Leave unrated until changes.
4/5 to conclude the review here. It's quite an effort for archmage.

I talk about this in the description.

The issue is the part of the skin under the moustache uses the same part of the texture as the beard so its either flesh tache or model without tache to be more accurate which I think works.

You'll need to be more specific wear more shadow and lighting is needed. And I'm not sure where you see blurriness but I'll be more than happy to touch them up :)

The fact that this is freehand really blows me away, its crazy the amount of detail you were able to pack into this skin. I like that the gold highlights actually match up to the right contrast when compared to your high elf/blood elf swordsman skins too, it lends the skin a consistency when used with other like assets.

Awesome work!
