Works in-game, performs appropriately and is a good addition to the model section. Excellent work!

LOTR inspired map makers are gonna jizz all over this. Well done! A welcome addtion to Hive's resource horde. Nice model and animations. I like that you gave him a thrust attack animation.

One of my favorite units in BFME finally got a good incarnation for WC3!
Good work)

In Attack 1, a hand with a spear kinda twitches a little, maybe fix it a bit so that the blow goes from down to up?

P.S.
It would be cool to see Numenoreans/Angmarim variation of this unit

Very cool model and great filesize. the only criticism i can make is that the shield covers his entire face (and importantly his eyes) during the defend animations. it's probably not noticeable from a normal game camera but i wouldn't want to use those anims in any scenario where the camera is close up. Nobody walks blind into battle if they can help it.

@hexhound - I can change the defend animations so he'll be able to see :)
The original animations I based it on were even worse - the shield was bigger and the Tower Guard was practically looking at the ground.

I thought about using this pose, but I couldn't get him to attack in a way that looked smooth

@Mythic - The pool of black around the base of the neck was supposed to resemble black cloth from the face-mask, but I see what you mean about it looking a little plain

Do you think I should simply revert the change, or add a collar to the breastplate to make it look a little more natural?

i think you made the right choice, the pose in the screenshot looks cool but i see the problem you probably saw. that stance would mainly be taken as a defensive measure when an enemy is bearing down on you, to let them impale themselves on the pikes "passively" with the ground acting as backstop instead of doing any jabbing motions. hard to mix into warcraft's melee system unless you wrote a system for dealing/taking damage when running into sharp objects based on movement speed or some kind of calculation for momentum and weight.

You could brighten the area a bit and make it look like some kind of fabric, like for example you did with your d&d rogue model (which i can't seem to find right now).

Either should be fine. I like the smooth simplicity of the previous version, but more detail would be welcome.

Hi! Nice model Dave, but after dl-ing the file, I got only one mdx file, with 1 model in it. And that models cape has no team color. Only the shoulder pad has TC.
Can you please re-check it?

I've been looking for a Fountain Guard model for a long time... a long time.*

Worth the wait.

Great stuff, HerrDave.

5/5

*Yes, I know there's a WoW-rip version of one out there and no, it doesn't count. They just look... weird.

The arm of the icewolf variant is visible through the shield in the model viewer.

Yep, that's because without Icewolf's skin - the outer part of the shield is invisible due to it's UV map

You're seeing the inside of the shield through a layer that is solid when the skin is put on

To not step on Icewolf's toes, I've not uploaded the skin here, only a model variant that has been adjusted for it's use for any people who were already using his skin for their project.
