Forest Party v0.20

About:
This map is a collection of minigames in which you face other players and try to get the most points. The mechanics and the style are pretty similar to those of the famous map called Uther Party which i am a big fan of.

Includes
  • Various survival games
  • Collect & sell stuff games
  • Racing games
  • And more
There are additional bonus games which can be found.

The map can be played by 1-10 players (including computer players). You can technically play it alone but some games require multiple players, so you wouldn't get the same experience.

How to play:
Your objective is to complete a set minigames and collect more points than your opponents. There are currently 3 modes:
  • Short Mode: There are 8 random minigames to be played.
  • Competitive Mode: There are 8 random minigames. The winner can then choose additional 8 minigames which can be played for fun.
  • Free Mode: The host chooses 10 minigames.
AI:
It is possible to play the map with computer players which will be controlled by the in-map AI. Note that many games are way too hard for an AI, but i'm constantly working on improving it.

Reforged compatibility:
The map should be fully compatible with Reforged, as long as it will continue supporting legacy maps. Current issues include doubly shown ability shortcuts and some models getting replaced (like Orc Marine).

Getting a crash each time the map loads on game version 1.31.1.

All players belong to the same team thus multiplayer is impossible as the map won't start.

  1. The corrupted ancients are broken in the original game. You should use the fix Ujimasa Hojo's Resources Discussion
  2. Not sure it's a good idea to only have the mini-games in random order. Players might miss out some of them. You could make a mod where you play them all.
  3. Why are they all Priests in the beginning if afterwards they aren't anymore, a different unit depending on the mini-game.
  4. In the lumber-spider mini-game, spiders prioritize frenzied attacking peasants. Not quite fair.
  5. Chen should stop throwing booze when the timer ends.
  6. Would be nicer if wolves attacked in the hunting mini-game.
  7. Too bad you can't acquire more than 200 gold in the hunting game to get more points in case you have fewer than the others on previous games.
  8. Same as above for all games. It's also boring to wait.
  9. Yeah, Kobold AI isn't too smart. After the first rocks are cleared out, they only go for the new appearing ones even if some other few appeared before. And not all Kobolds go for the new rocks (depends on the range between them though) but they do go for the items.
  10. Cripple's buff icon is a green square. You should properly add the DISBTN (disabled version) of the icon.
  11. When the Knight mini-game started, the game basically froze.
You should check this and what @Eat_Bacon_Daily wrote.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sure, a lot of issues come due to differences between 1.28.5 and 1.31.1 (i ported it from 1.28.5 and want the map to work fine on both versions).

I will see what i can do about the mentioned moments and think about how to fix the crashes

EDIT: You can pass the bear by going invisible when he wakes up (the ! sign appears above his head)

Our game crashed in the child/lumber/bear game when someone threw a rock at another player.

I replaced the ability, it shouldn't crash anymore.

Very nice map I really like it, But I have a question:
How can you pass the Grizzy Bear in child minigame?
Also I think it's very hard to steal gold from villager solo.

I actually found a bug which was making the bear never go to sleep, its fixed now.

1. Could you specify, how exactly are they broken? They seem to be just the same as in previous versions of Warcraft III
2. Well, you could select any of the games after the competition phase is over. Still, I added a free pick mode which seems like a good idea
3. They represent the player in general
4. They seem to prioritize the one who's attacking them which is pretty much the standard unit behavior.

6. I will think about it, since the area is open it would be hard to avoid them for now.

  2. If you sacrifice your life to the obelisk as a gnoll you win? That's what it said but the ability's description mentions cooldown.
  3. After the timer ended for the Troll Collector mini-game (chosen), it was reset to non-moving 2:49 minutes. The AI continued to play.
  4. The survivor mini-game which uses the troll hunting snow arena, has no timer.
  5. You could make the tauren chieftain have 1 movement speed and keep the unit in a region not to get out since now it doesn't turn to face the enemy when shooting shockwaves.
  6. For some reason the red player wasn't affected by the stomps after a while and the tauren also stopped for a while not doing anything until the next stomp. I was left with the yellow AI. This mini-game also doesn't have a timer.
  7. The grizzly bear game is too random when played with many players. There should be more rounds to win.
  8. An issue with the lizard dodge game is that you can't pass through your competitors and that might create a disadvantage.
  9. The rat mini-game froze the game after a few seconds.
  10. No mention of winning the game with the Warden, being the only one reaching the prisoner.
  11. Faerie Dragon AI phases when the spell is ready not when the treants are attacking.
  12. You should use QWERTY keys for everything. It's annoying and confusing when various games have different ones.
  13. Intended for Chaos Grunt's ensnare to work both on "allies" and enemies?
  14. Not sure if intended but I could directly possess another unit from the wolf after getting below 50% HP. Didn't happen the same with the lizard I took over.
  15. 16 blighted trees and 2 healthy ones=10 points while 2 blighted ones and 1 healthy one=9 points!? Second place, sure but what's the incentive then?
  16. The original pass the bomb map had a timer for the bomb.
  17. While playing the acolyte game the game froze. Played it for a bit though before it started happening.
  18. Ghoul's Cripple doesn't create a visible buff (FX).

I suspect the freeze is coming from periodic timers which are enabled at the start of each game (right when units are unpaused). It seems to freeze in 1.31 multiplayer/LAN only which makes me think that the patch has to do with it (i played it a lot in 1.28.5 multiplayer and it never froze, same as in single player).

Maps Freezing since last patch

My timers aren't as frequent as in the topic but the issue seems to be very similar. I'm not sure how to deal with it for now (at least without completely rewriting all related triggers).

As for the other stuff - i will check it, thanks for the detailed feedback
