Faction Wars V.2

Faction Wars is a sci-fi/fantasy RTS, which is set in the madworld of Jil'neah civil war.
* Fast-paced RTS.
* 8 Army Specialization to choose.
* Intense wingman versus wingman Co-op.
* Over 25 basic units and you can gain 1 of the 8 more units for each different specialization.
* Individual tree-system.
* OCR system allows you to quickly boost the strength of your army.
* All new taste of RTS.


Players may find this game similar to WC 3 and SC but to think about it there are many different gameplay that other RTS doesn't have. Examples are the new One-Click-Research-System (OCR System) and Army Specialization (AS). I will first explain the OCR System, it simply caused a fast duration of research and upgrades so that you don't have to wait too long, its a very simple feature in the game but very useful. Another feature is the Army Specialization, each player is provided with 8 specializations, you may pick ONLY one and you cannot undo it, once you chose a specialization your Strategy Tower will upgrade, notice that OCR System is not apply when building and upgrading structures. After a duration of time, your new Strategy Tower possess a new global abilities as well as Specialization Boost, it provides a small bonus in your army depending on what specialization you chose, and it will provides you a new unit for your army which can be located on a designated production structure. And last thing to know that when you lost your Strategy Tower you lost all boost, global abilities, and it will also unable you to create new units, so keep your Strategy Tower alive and healthy. You can create many strategies in this game, so take your time to familiarize your self with the controls, there is always a dummy A.I. to practice with or you can always open the editor to tinker the map.

List of Tips:
1.) Defense Emplacement can also serve as walls for your base.
2.) Keep your Strategy Tower alive because it will provide you different specialization which can give you new units and special action skills. Theres no replacement when it is destroyed.
3.) Always protect your wingman! You too can gain advantage from his/her Strategy Tower.
4.) Each different specialization provides new units, try different tactical combos of actions skills.
5.) Matriarchs has doubled almost everything which means double the loot of crystals.
6.) Research and upgrades only take 1 or 3 second/s, this may not allow you to cancel it so think twice if you're going to research or upgrade
7.) In order to gain access to a new Crystal Cluster you must destroy infestation sack. ( Be warned that infestation sack are ALWAYS protected by Wretches )
8.) Its not build all unit classes, try building an army that can are relate to your specialization.
9.) All units have their own PROS and CONS, try learning them.
10.) Like the traditional WC 3 day and night system, in this game it also affect units' performances and sight vision.
11.) Buildings has a stable sight vision.
12.) If a building is under construction and you decide to cancel it, its okay, you will get the exact money back.
13.) Like most RTS, always scout. Pumas, Badgers and Charmers are excellent for scouting.
14.) Perrienal Bisons are extremely tough to kill.
15.) Any aerial units are no matched against the Hedgehogs.
16.) Keep your eyes out for Skullborbs, they are more annoying than they look.

Haven Wars:
The Haven Wars are fought by different underground factions/races, their primary goal is to rule the Underground Haven, numerous bloody battles were made but in the end. Wretches won the war, their domination were successful within 2 years only, they lead the Zal'gons to extinction and they enslaved the Black Widows, in the present Jil'neah, they serve as the aerial attacker for the Wretches. After the Wretches ruled the Underground Haven, Daggoth channels a mass Arcane energies that they gain from the crystals, the purpose of the channeling is to raise other clusters that are located deeper in the Haven. This resulted a success for the Wretches but this also cause other cluster to raised up to the surface of Jil'neah. This mark the Crystal Rush Era for the humans (see Megawealth Era)

Megawealth Era:
The first emergence of crystal clusters throughout the planet Jil'neah heightens the greed among the people who dwells in the planet. People were divided to find themselves these precious crystals, as a result.
A group of people established the the first faction known as Peacekeepers, they sworn to maintain peace and balance in the planet, but they took control Jil'neah and its people. After 1 year, people suffer from oppression of the Peacekeepers. Because of the abusive acts of the Peacekeepers, a rebellion called themselves the Sons of Jil'neah was established and they sworn to overthrow the Peacekeepers, they gained and stole Peacekeeper hightech weaponry to win the war between freedom and oppression.

Arcane Wars:
20 years of endless war between the two factions resulted the new discovery of Arcane energy. These energies can be channel from Blood Crystals. This discovery founded by a female scientist, she discovered that arcane energies are capable of creating new weapon arsenals as well as gives new combat specialization for soldiers. She began teaching arcane arts and created a new union for Arcane mages. It didn't took long, the Peacekeepers feared Arcane mages might fight for the rebellion that could be one of the best reasons to lose the war. So the made a solution, they threatened all arcane mages that they will slaughter them if they don't fight for the Peacekeepers. 2 months later, a small group of Peacekeepers defected and they established their own faction called Crimson Sigma since they disapprove on what the Peacekeepers doing, they protected the arcane fugitives during the Arcane Wars. It resulted another faction to participate the war, the Peacekeeper continued to end the war against the Sons of Jil'neah and the Crimson Sigma.

Rise of the Fallen Star:
It didn't took long, an infamous group was conducting inhumane experiments on both humans and animals. Since the 3 factions were killing each other, they send out different recon teams to infiltrate Peacekeepers', Sons of Jilneahs', and Crimson Sigmas' facility to gain new technology, but they found more than they need they found different top secret weapons, documents, and arcane relics that may prove very useful. As they steal these technology, they started to create a new faction called the Fallen Star, their participation has a great impact in the war which leaded to the current Faction Wars.

Faction Wars/Present Jil'neah:
Now the 4 faction clash into an endless, its up to you to choose side. Would you join the Peacekeepers, Sons of Jil'neah, Fallen Star, or the Crimson Sigma. Each different faction has different idealogies but only one will win the war. The fate of Jil'neah lies in your hands.



Wretches - are the most dominant race in the Underground Haven. Their army of insect warriors is lead by Daggoth itself, an overgrowing brain-like creature, its lust for Arcane energies and flesh started the domination among other underground races, their domination is to consume everything on its path and to establish infestation nerves. They learned that humanity is killing each other for the exact same purpose; to get direct possession of Crystal Clusters. Daggoth was patient, it is just waiting for the perfect moment to consume the surface.

Characteristics: Wretches are savage and genocidal creatures, Wretches are fast reproducing and growing species, each warrior carries a few amount of crystals in order for them to regenerate their health. Female Wretches are called Matriarchs, Matriarchs are more stronger than males they are capable secreting substance that may cause a cluster to be infested, players cannot gather from an infested cluster, it also creates a nervous connection with Daggoth, allowing it to gain the Arcane Energies from the crystals. Wretches feast upon other races including humans. Daggoth is a powerful arcane user that can twist the mind of the lesser beings and it is also said that it is immortal, like arcane users it can shoot unstable arcane energies.


Zal'gons - are big beetle-like creatures, their race also fought during the Haven War but they lost and they were lead into genocide by the Wretches.

Characteristics: Zal'gons are prideful and resistant creatures, their resistant mind isn't effected by the mind twisting of Daggoth, since Wretches has no use for prisoners they slaughter them all leaving nothing including the smallest grub. Unlike the Wretches, they are slow reproducing races, female zal'gons usually stays in their hive waiting for a mate and they rely protection from males. zal'gon grubs grow very slow; 8 human years is only equivalent to 1 zal'gon year, they only feed upon Perrenial Bison.

Black Widows - are flying webbed women that also fought during the Haven Wars but they lost and enslaved by the Wretches.

Characteristics: Widows are swift creatures, they are capable flying around unlike the Zal'gons and Wretches. Widows are unknowingly capable of reproducing among themselves and other species, even they are all women. They possessed weak minds twisted by Daggoth to serve the Wretches as a breeding tool to increase the population growth of their army and they also serve as flying unit during the Faction Wars.

They emerged from the Underground Haven when the Wretches reach the surface, they adapt and reproduce themselves in the surface.

8.) Zal'gons didn't make their appearance during the Faction Wars since they were already extinct.
9.) Perennial Bisons are not aggresive as the Skullborbs so Wretches tend to feast on them rather using them as a war machine.
10.) Peacekeepers are more hated than the Fallen Star.
11.) Black Widows are capable bearing offsprings from other races.
12.) Most women are encourage to learn Arcane arts.
13.) Blue = Stable and medium Arcane energy, Green = Unstable and heavy arcane energy.

dont get me wrong but how did this map get approved? it clearly breaks the hive rules.
it doesnt have a proper description which usually tends to disapproval of maps.

Tried this out and this map is pretty great. Here are some issues i encountered in this map:

1. The Gorgon's soundset freaks me out. You should use the Succubus soundset. The soundset is called Demoness.
2. The Impact Shot research has a so wrong description.
3. Chemical Boost research says it applies to the Valkyrie not Halcyon Transport Ship.
4. Change the Soldiers model, maybe? Because it just looks so weird with all the orcs around them.
5. I think Ursas and Gorgons borrows too many abilities from other units. Which feels so imba. Maybe add Gorgon a new ability?
6. Name comparision: Overqueen > Gorgon
7. Why did you removed Necrowalkers minion ability?
8. In the Upgrade Center, the "Description" word color of the Ground Machine Machine Armor Level 10 and beyond is purple. Not teal. Fix that.
9. Change the icon of Strategy Tower(Arcane) to an icon of Orb of Kil'Jaeden or Soul Orb. Anti-Magic Shell icon looks weird.
10. Dude, GoW 3 is already released.

This is a very tasty map with small but many issues. 4/5

There might be something wrong with you W3 since this map just got approve and other people already played the game, they also left some notes and criticisms. I suggest that you reinstall your W3 and download the latest patch.

this game is great!!! I love this map!!!:grin: can't wait for the full version. Can you decrease the motar squad/unit's range or increase the sniper tower's range? My defences were knocked down by motar squads and my sniper towers range was not far enough

Hi! there, its been a year or two before this map got a new reply. I am currently recreating the entire map (making a spiritual successor). It would feature much detailed units, map packs (I guess), and an entire broad story series. While I haven't created on the Map Development thread due to the recreation, plenty of fixes and tweaks are made, the project had several delay. I also apologize about the the current state of the map, I once promised the patch-up versions of this one, but this was cancelled, like I said about the recreation. I would be posting something on the Map Development Forums soon, if you want to, I am requiring tons of beta testers for the successor. If your up to it, I'll let you know.

Sorry for dodging this question, I won't be posting techtree like I said, its currently being remaked and this version is outdated. Their beliefs are solely based on the story itself, I wanna give all players the same abilities to build their army so there's no difference on the factions.

also i just checked the storyline....how come peacekeepers can train arcane units...i thought they were fugitives..also i think a campaign should be made...it's a pretty good map, and i really like the idea of speciality units....why no nukes though?

A plan for a campaign was indeed suggested by one of my colleagues, I like the idea, but this was too much complicated, turns out we aimed for an altered melee. About the plot, yeah, its lame and underdeveloped, every faction can make arcane units because like I said above, I wanna keep everyone balance and deserve the same army capacity like the other. And lastly, I would like to thank you for checking my map, the Specializations are indeed the best idea we ever had, also, there's no nuke because we created the lore that way, but I would think about it for its spiritual successor.

i only tried the recon.how bout this for a reason as too why there are mages on the peacekeeper's side:
as the peacekeepers kept hunting for the arcanists they killed a wretched on the aboveground haven and disected it,copying it's arcane genes into troops they deemed could survive the experiment, 4 out of 10 survived. after examination of the successful victims(the media deemed the ones that died"brave people who died to help the cause").afterwards crimson sigma killed one of them and copied the experiment,in a different way.they literally transfered the teachings and abilities through the brain(which was somehow less dangerous and resulted in only one person dying).

that's it!and since fallen star took technology from them all they already knew how to make mages!also may i suggest a plague or infestation specialty?it would give you a plague carrier(light vehicle).pyschic(self infestation has somehow resulted in weaker versions of marines with pyschic abilities,you can change this if you want,barracks unit) and Ralian(spec ops unit).the storyline behind this is:
as the fallen star stole technology, they used their stolen tech to develop their own. it resulted in massive failure however and caused insanity amongst test subjects, creating an accidental plague which nearly resulted in the entire army being killed.they left the data buried in ice trapped in a tube.later the other factions took it and fine tuned the development. later spec ops raids on every factions facilities revealed each factions tests and fine tunes(with the fallen star cunningly taking them all as the others fought)this is what was read:

Day 1: subjects appear to be losing muscle rapidly, however they appear to have made their skin crystallized, creating a sort of skin armor. they also appear to be able to use more of their brain, enabling them to move objects and trick others brains into ordering the immune system to destroy something that isn't harmful.infact they can learn things that would take years in 5 days!

Day 2:this is indeed strange, as experiments on the plague the fallen star made can be controlled who it infects by gene-making a brain for the plague so that it may understand who is it's friends.it is however aware it is an experiment, it has even attempted to break out!!i may have to get a few more marines in chem suits down here to keep it here.as for the "pyschics" they appear to be showing sympathy for every faction, believing that all their good sides of the beliefs can be merged into one angelic faction.

Day 3:i cannot believe this!my superiors have ordered me to put on them mind control devices so that they don't defect and create another enemy, they know about this(i told them and let them read my mind) and show sympathy for my predicament.they say they won't hold me responsible. as for the plague i have ingeniously designed an injection that'll render the troops immune to our plagues, secret reports say the enemy does the same.however each has special recipes that haven't been reached,so hence our plagues shall still be handy.

Day 5:CRAP!!i made a mistake on one of the devices and now it's transformed the poor subject, he says he is not angry.the others read him and it appears it has made him more sympathetic to my predicament, also it appears to have turned his skin armor into a mix between 25% arcane/25% crystalline/50% solid energy!his pyschic abilities have shown a more elemental form. taking forms like fire or ice or thunder!!!He has decided to call himself a radian, my superiors want me to copy him. when i come back he has somehow multiplied himself.i also designed a vehicle that's remote controlled to hold the plague weapon.

Day 6: I can't believe this, they want me to destroy the radians now.i am going to run now.with all the subjects and head for the mountains..anyone who reads this can know that i am a fugitive, anyone who thinks this is wrong can go to hell..


well maybe you can get rid of it but...it's pretty good the mage storyline!

I indeed like the idea! although I must say that I am 'ravamping' the whole name and lore behind Faction Wars, all I can say now is that it would be named as EchoStorm. Along with a friend, we are both working together a novelized story, centralizing a certain plot and characters, this whole 'mage' thing for the game would be heavily redesign to a more sci-fi look.

Just wait for the development thread I am going to make.

thank you!and yw,i loved starcraft(even though a friend of mine thought it was"too humanless") and hence incredously perked interest since it got inspired by many a classic game(IMO the classics were: C&C, RA2 and Starcraft and Warcraft). not to mention it's in general a pretty good mod, and i just like altered melee maps(i got VERY tired of warcraft 3s units, not to mention it woulda been a decent change to be able to attack via the sea).
EDIT: good luck on the beta btw, i could try my hand at some terraining(i haven't got much experiance srry, i'm trying to learn triggering ATM though).

i find it sad though you killed off the protoss T.T

Bug Found!

When I was destroying a base of enemies and a creeps come out on the front of my plane (Halcyon) and the creep just impale me (Like from the Starcraft 1 :cgrin:), and after then, The projectile doesn't remove... Here's my proof:

Secondly, I already found that bug after it was released, like I said there were no patch up versions for V.2 but that doesn't mean this project is dead, we are currently remaking it for the better. :)

Haha, well, the Wretches are the ideal creeps for Faction Wars, but I am currently scrapping them away for its successor due toe huge story revamp. Also, thank you again for staying tuned at this map.

by the way whats the status on this games successor?

Still making it though, I am currently making better map, it would limit for 4 players, it would mean 2v2, the map would feature a certain location from the story. The plan for the Beta release would feature a fully playable infantry techtree. As of the moment, I haven't started making the map, busy finishing off the infantry techtree and the story itself. I could also confirm that there will be an EchoStorm melee promo map for a normal Wacraft 3. ;)
