Ered Luin

Nothing special, just something I did out of boredom.

Eh, a better description, you say? Ok.

HFR presents: Ered Luin

Information:

It's a 2 player map, with bases on high ground, a central path connecting both bases and a bunch of smaller trails at the sides, with creeps, shops and stuff.

Description/Lore:

Long deserted by their former denizens, the dwarfs, this part of the Ered Luin, or Blue Mountains as the common folk calls them, is now the lair of every kind of savage creature, from the weakest gnoll to the mightiest dragon.

I'll let -Kobas- rate it though, he's probably go over some minor details.
But if I were to rate it, I'd give it a 4/5 rating, it looks quite nice, very symmetric, has the basic things of a melee (green creeps, different item tables, etc.), I also like the 2 dragon nests in the center of the map, kinda makes it feel like the middle lane of the map is a hardcore area, only for late-game :p
The pathing is fine, the map just looks amazing, however the snowy bridge at the center of the map looks rather weird, I'd suggest you lower the 2 cliffs it binds.
Also what are murlocs doing in this kind of environment? ;D

Thanks for the review :D

Yeah, that bridge looks kinda weird, I'll see what I can about it.

As for the murlocs, well they were in the L. Winter creeps and I didn't want to repeat creep types, so I just put them near the river.

Map is created for 2 players only, 40% or more, of whole map, is empty.
For example, bottom player will never go to left corridor or maybe even middle one, it will be just fine to capture mine located to the right. Using another corridor will be fine maybe only for Orc race cuz they miss heavy air unit like Frost Wyrm or Chimera.

Environment, well there is none, just rocks, trees and few different doodads near river (Remove all trees and map will look horrible).
Use more different doodads all around, snowy rocks, crystals at some place maybe. Use waterfalls they always improve terrain beauty. Add ruined towns maybe or abandoned creep camps and so on.

And finally 2 taverns can be replaced with 1, placed somewhere on map center, there is no artifact drop (level 7, there is for level 8 (and that's 3 items)). 2 Mud golems located to left and right are weak, 1 stone golem can improve camp (add to 1 golem level 1 power up and to rock one level 3 permanent.) Add few more creep camps, Ice Trolls can do. Change terrain class into Nortland for example and place few frozen wolves (you have ghosts there as well, perfectly for abandoned camps or whatever I mentioned above)

Terrain isn't really 100% symmetric, but it will do I will suggest 1 more expansion gold mine per player, but 4 of them all together can do. There is enough lumber, enough room for build. Taverns are unguarded, enough creeps and item drops for at least 2 heroes. Well good for approval. :)
2/5 Acceptable
