Emerald Nightmare (Map)

I feel like in spite of the red theme, some other colours could be added - despite the textures being very high quality, the map feels like Outland due to its narrow color palette. I'm also concerned with mixing the Granite Golem with level 1 Treants...

Hello there , interesting thing you did, so vampiric, maybe not everybody will like all that red but it calls the attention - Maybe not everything has to be all red, color contrast is nice too, just think about it. - I agree with twojstaryjakcie...

Purple units do fit on the red theme. The terrain is pretty much flat. I suggest removing the rock chunks only where they are near the main bases. If you don't have an army, you can pass by behind the Wildkins and into the Way Gate safely, in and out...

"Emerald Nightmare" - I like it, if someone makes a Melee map based on a actual place in WoW.

Other than that it has very redish theme to it.

I guess it's for first time. I mean I know about this issue, but any of Warcraft 3 standard tiles do not looks good with red one. So to fix this, I need to totally rework visual part of a map.

I'm also concerned with mixing the Granite Golem with level 1 Treants - it makes the player confused as he doesn't know what to really expect (high reward for Granite Golem or low reward for the camp being only level 11?); If you want to keep the Granite Golem, you either have to make the drop more worth it (Level 3 Permanent item seems not enough) or just get rid of the treants and replace them with some higher level creeps. The problem is that a regular level 11 camp would be possible to kill by a Blademaster and a Grunt or two; it'd also drop a Level 2-3 item. However, a Granite Golem is a very powerful unit which is much more dangerous than a few units which together would also be Level 9 - this means that the camp is not worth it; you're not going to risk your units getting killed by a super-powerful creep just to get a little amount of xp and a ring of regen, for example.

Additionally, the map is very unfair towards Human players - not only is the expansion guarded by a red camp, but also it's quite a long distance from the main, meaning that you'll be very exposed while going for an early expansion. I'd think about changing the camp to orange.

I feel like the Waygates seem redundant as they are very far away from the action and the players won't be probably using them as they wouldn't take them anywhere close the important regions anyways. Maybe you can replace them with gold mines and put the red camps there?

The maps plays decently, it's just the flaws I mentioned that make it feel somewhat lacking, but apart from that, good job.

- Maybe not everything has to be all red, color contrast is nice too, just think about it.
- I agree with twojstaryjakcie about the gates, they are not placed in that form you will use, I would remove the rocks
It will take less time to destroy the trees with the blood elf hero and the centaur night elf hero
-For a 128x96 map for 1vs1 wich is a huge thing, the map is small, you have tons of areas of wood, where you can add more thing
for example:
-other expanding options +2 goldmines
- There is so many wood that the goblin lab to buy the sawlog goblin machine would be nice too
- maybe 2 more green creeps for the players
-Maybe fountains?.
-Terrain is all flat, no cliff and no rise/down tool, many love WC2 flat terrain, but in WC3 that thing is taken account.
- There could be water

I rate 3/5 nice and interesting

I tell you this as an honest user, I don´t think this is a wining map,

-The enviroment could be more atractive, there are more than 8000 props but they are all trees. I would consider using more elements to decorate the map so it wont be so repetitive. Water maybe?
-The gameplay could have more elements since there is a lot of empty space
- The flat terrain, for the contest, probably it will be an important item to count.

But again I am throwing this list of things so you consider them to improve or study to improve your map, to increase the chance of winning maybe?

well good luck and see ya.

Maybe add a one or two green camps somewhere?

Approved.

Well.....I can't remenber is there any trees with red leaves inside the Emerald Nightmare.

Trees are mainly grey leafless curved trees, with shiny red cinder on it.
there are also red trees around Il'gynoth, but they looks more ilkely to strands of flesh instead of trees.
And brambles in the nightmare seems larger.
(in fact I'cant really tell the difference between vines and trees in the Emerald Nightmare lul)

About the ground......I remenber the ground are mainly gray and black(usually grass and vine)besides red.
and purple flowers can be seen around Dragons of Nightmare.

So I suggest you replace these shiny red trees with leafless dead trees.
plant more and larger bramble cluster around the map,add some grey tiles.

My editor isn't english so I can't provide more direct suggestion.
and there are quite a lot difference between CN and other servers of WOW
my memories about Emerald Nightmares might be inaccurate.

beside that, it's still an amazing map, like rest of your map.
and my guild still wipe at Mythic Il'gynoth even with the Crucible:vw_unimpressed:

I checked this one out and played it (against a bot) and i have to say it feels nice and plays well. It definitely reminds me of the Emerald Nightmare although i had half expected to see some Satyrs (unless spawns are random and i got unlucky :p). The fog is a nice touch. The camps with the level 9 golem were a lot harder than expected.

One thing which bothered me is that the destructible rocks will sometimes cause AI workers to behave strangely (they will try to move behind them which of course involves walking a lot of distance around the map). It may have been caused by the unit trying to harvest lumber from a tree blocked off by the rocks. I saw this during night against a human insane bot.

But regardless i'd give it 5/5 for a nice relaxing and seemingly balanced melee map to casually play through against AI :p

Feels like playing the Emerald Nightmare Raid from WoW: Legion. The textures and models are nice. But I think that adding more black objects should do the trick. You should add many various plants to look more like WoW.

Thank you for feedback! Well, basially it's just a concept for Altered Melee map - I just prepared textures and models to use it later. So I will count your suggestions when my hands will come to this theme.
