Creator's Comments on DotT Final & the making of Final Plus.



Although DotT Final was supposed to be the final series of DotT, I've received alot of feedback after quitting mapmaking. Thus, DotT Final Plus was created in response to those feedbacks. However, the below phrase still holds true for this series.


DotT is like a book. You can't enjoy the game by flipping through the pages once. You have to read it through to enjoy it.
What I meant is you have to learn how to play it before you can say it's impossible.



Do not expect to complete it on your first try unless you are a fast learner.

Reading below Tips will improve your chances at completing this game!



* Most shops in game have global purchase range. You can buy items from anywhere in the game.

* Item giving have global range, deposit & withdraw valuable items in your Titan Totem from anywhere on the game.

* Be sure to check out the Tactical Shop & Grand Exchange. Purchasing items from these shops can make your game much easier.

* The fountain have 3 recovery spells, be sure to utilize them.

* Your Titan Totem [Storage Space & Teleporter] is located at top right of Avalon.

* Try out different builds and find one that suits you. DotT Heroes are very versatile whereby you can customize with items, spells, tomes.

* To attain higher score in game, doing actions such as casting, attacking, being attacked, consume potions and more will increase your Points.

* Higher points means higher interest income per minute.

What is DotT?


DotT, also known as Defense of the Titans, is a Hero Defense/Siege game.
Players have to defend the Fountain from 15 waves of spellpacked creeps, 5 waves of unique Generals, 3 bosses with multiple trigger phases and finally Sargeras himself.
There is also an optional extra storyline expansion Conquest Mode unlocked after you complete the game!
DotT is a game that cannot be won without team cooperation!

<Defense of the Titans>

Even after Sargeras obtained the power of Draconia, he is consumed by his greed and seeks more power. After a few years, he found another place of power. Avalon, with the Fountain of Life, capable of giving life to any life forms and healing any injuries. Sargeras, being consumed by his greed, commanded his Burning Legion to assemble and prepare for the invasion of Avalon.....

Unknown to Sargeras, the Patheon had found out about his evil doings and send the Titans, from the far reaches of the cosmos to stop the invasion. Thus, the battle begins in DotT....Defense of the Titans.

* Actions done by player in game will affect their scores!

This sounds thoroughly interesting. At first I thought this was a different version of DotA and I almost skipped it. I have to ask though, besides the conquest mode what do you do before that??

we've less 30s for choose a hero at the begining, and it's too short !!! that's bad when players are afk...
one other thing, it's normal (in solo) when i pass the first event, i lost the control of my hero ? i understand (during the event), but when the game continue, i can't control my hero anymore...

can you fix it plz? i like your map it's funny :)

There is 1 minute choosing time before creep starts rushing in. The Totems can be attacked and will take the bulk of the damage on that lane if the player afk at the beginning.

Losing control of your hero means the hero disappear, cannot move or change player control?

Oh and thanks for playing my map, glad you enjoyed it :)

Defense of the Titans

Umm, the void beasts were just decorations. You are supposed to stun/compete with each other to reach the waygate first. Perhaps that will change in future versions where they will move and attack players.

Gameplay

how are we supposed to live with two players?! You should really implement a system to compensate for the number of players, or individual players can't realistically play your map.


Okay, I shall elaborate. The spawn rate increases with the number of players and that in turn increases the difficulty of defending the fountain from the leaking waves. One leaking wave in 8 players at level 10 and above could mean game lost in 5 seconds while 10 seconds in 2 players.

There are also incentives to lesser people. With lesser people, the limited edition loots, gold and other drops from bosses are shared between fewer players and that makes you much more stronger than playing in a 5-8 players game.

The only reasons for losing in my opinion are,
* All heroes died, leaving the fountain vulnerable to attacks.
If this is the reason, did you buy bonus health items and stronger potions? If you did there shouldn't be any problem in defeating bosses in normal mode.

* One side leaked at late game waves.
2 Players means there are 2 towers and 2 heroes. The towers should be able to hold their stand if you upgrade them simultaneously. You can also buy the Tower Building skill to increase ur defense.

Personally i have tested DotT with my friend everyday with 1 or 2 of my friends and the only part where it's challenging is at Sargeras. Perhaps you did not equip yourselves with enough vitality items or you did not purchase strong potions to heal fast enough. As i said above, DotT is not an Easy game and need to play a few games to learn the ropes.

There was alot of doodads that have to be deleted due to lag issues. The game had sacrificed doodads to reduce lag.

Item descriptions too long, the scoreboard blocked some item names, try improving on item descriptions and the recipe part was rather messy also. For some reason, I can't wield the Awakened Rune Rapier as well.

Scoreboard can be hidden by typing -hl. Press f9 and check out the available commands.

Recipe messy and item descriptions not clear? Not sure about that cause every prerequisite item required to form the Recipe Item have clear instructions on how to obtain them in the description and you can buy the item directly if you wan to skip crafting.

For some reason, I can't wield the Awakened Rune Rapier as well.
Yes this had been noted. Christmas II is undergoing Beta Test as of this post and will be released soon which fixes many stuffs including this.

I had an unawakened rune rapier with the kills going over 400 before I ragequit. It seems like ascendance activates far less than it should (that might just be me). And the ninja with the lightning jump can cross the map (leave challenges etc.). If a new wave spawns when you are in challenge they do not freeze and can destroy or attack your fountain (this almost happened before I upgraded my tower to take care of them). Fatal error happens if you are afk at start and death race minigame happens before hero choose.

-> It's a low 17% chance to balance the game because your attackspeed is very fast during late game.

3) And the ninja with the lightning jump can cross the map (leave challenges etc.). If a new wave spawns when you are in challenge they do not freeze and can destroy or attack your fountain (this almost happened before I upgraded my tower to take care of them).

-> Fixed in v1.3.

One feature I would like to see is camera controls. The map doesn't work too well with normal war3 zooms, so if you could add a -zoom XXXX command or something it would be nice
i will play it again and hopefully give a 4/5
attempted to test: the + character in the file name wont let me host so please change that for the next one (i will change it myself for now)
