Champions Arena v5D
Mighty heroes from all over Azeroth come to this arena to prove themselves with their combat and magic, however, once in, their only choice is to fight until the end against huge hordes of warrior creatures, they must act as a team and use their spells to survive along with the fighting.

Map Information
Champions Arena is a 10 players arena survival type of map, the main objective consists in using your hero to survive in the arena agains waves of creeps that come from the sides, teamwork is required although it is playable in single player,you must make good use of your hero skills and prepare yourself properly before each round.

Features
  1. Choose one from ten custom heros in the tavern
  2. Prepare yourself with 3 shops that sell consumables and items that can be combined into stronger versions
  3. When all players are ready, enter the teleport to leave the shop zone and to teleport everyone to the arena to fight
  4. Survive 20 waves of creeps
  5. Every 5 rounds the fifth is a boss battle, this version has 4 bosses
  6. Each hero has at least 2 triggered spells or customized
  7. Whenever you end a round you will return to the shop zone where you can prepare again for the next round
  8. If you die during battle, you will be revived only in the next round, however if everyone dies, you will lose a life(lumber) and will have to try the same round again
  9. If you have no lumber and die, you will be defeated!
  10. If you manage to beat the game by finishing all rounds, the arena will turn into a PVP arena and you will fight other players

During PVP mode, some heros may be imbalanced, because they were made to fight creeps
There's something you could work on eventually. If you're going to add a PvP element, it'd be nice if it was balanced as well as PvE, otherwise you could have the game begin with choosing if you want to add a PvP match after all the rounds are completed or once the rounds are complete a dialogue will come up and allow players to vote. I guess the map is still developing since its v0, you may want to use the Map Development Forums if you need further help and suggestions. Also heros should be spelled heroes.

Tested it and here's what I've found:


  • 6 Heroes - Still a small number but good enough.
  • Improve their description in the tavern. Say what things they're specialized to do. Like a Tank, Support, Boss Killer, etc.



  • Some abilities have insufficient descriptions. Work on that.
  • Items - Upgrading is a nice feature. But instead of putting "Buy another one of these to upgrade", Let's say "Purchase another to upgrade" or something like that.



  • It is a nice map. It has a potential. I don't mind the terrain. It's an arena after all. What's the point of a beautiful arena if blood was to be spilled?
  • Just the things I've pointed out and It's halfway to being nice.
  • Adding more items wouldn't hurt. If you were to put a PvE mode in it. Heroes would have the same items. Try to avoid that.
  • Anything else I could think of? Nah. It's fine the way it is.


This is just my opinion. It's up to you if you find it helpful.

Pretty nice map I must say

The Good Stuff
- Layout is very neat, nothing confusing how to play ect is easy to understand.
- Hroes are pretty intresting, icons and effects are fitting and well done.

The Bad Stuff
- The balance between boss and standard levels is vast. Normal waves are extremely easy in comparison to boss levels.
- Monster damage is kinda iffy, some later waves barely hurt at all. Partly because they hit for magic damage which doesnt do much versus hero armour.
- Some item recipes are rather strange. Improved Cloak o Flames for example requries 4 standard cloaks. Not is only space wasting, it also wastes gold since there isnt really a difference stacking more than one cloak until you get all four.

Thank you for reviewing, about the bosses, they are hard on single player and extremelly easy on multiplayer, so I'm thinking about a object editor upgrade for the boss creatures that will fit to the amount of players to make it more balanced.For the monster damage I will do some tweaks and balance the armors/attack. Some recipes are being remade and more will be added, for the cloak of flames, I will probably add a different recipe with other items.

For the next version, I will add 1-3 heroES, 4 rounds and a new boss, as well as fix/change those issues you've found and balance.
I found many bugs while playing online, I'm writing them down to fix later:wink:

It's cool to see how community react on good looking description :aht:

Map is epic, I really like idea and how you created heroes so far!
Still I have few suggestions!

-Add locust ability to dummy units placed near tavern to remove hp bar from them, or make them buildings :D
-Add damage and ability show system (can be turned on and off)
-Add more description to items (2 for amulet, 2 amulets for something else and so on)
-I gained small amount of experience after killing boss (add 1 level to all heroes or something like that)
-Orbs items are useless, better add items with (critical, cleaving, bash strike and so on)
-Create multiboard instead of leaderboard!
-Where is epic loading screen?

That's all what I saw for 10 min testing!
Will wait for few more reviews or updates to approve this :p

Normal idea, but it's addicting. I'm trying so hard to win the game.. Well.. I only managed to get through satyrs... Because of some balance issues, I'll tell more about this later.
Heroes
Heroes have great skills, neat ability descriptions, I'm truly amazed. However, you should improve the heroes descriptions:

Other than showing his/her/it stats, you could tell a little story about the hero
OR
Do something like this, seperate the types of ability into different color (e.g: Default spell = Green Text, Normal spells = Blue-green text and Ultimate = Blue text) :

- Bloodlust (Same as above, simple explanation)

Less items, but can be combined into a lot of new stuff, great! But, there's some things that you can improve in the item descriptions:

So what's the problem of this? Well, the orb has it effects, you could warn the players that Orb Effect does not stack. You can do that by adding some note about orb effects at the bottom part of description of the item.

Items are fine, but I'm truly wishing for new items :)
Artificial Intelligence
Okay, I love how the creeps patrolling around. It's pretty scary but at the same time it's pretty funny. The funny is, they sometimes ignore ranged attacks, but I don't think it's the negative part, since the creeps are strong.

Don't worry much about this section, it's perfect for me :)

You're not limiting the heroes, please limit it.

The shuriken does not goes back to the caster when I casted. It happens once.


Like other people said, the boss is truly strong. I took 20 minutes to kill the boss alone with a ranger. Try to reduce the stats of the boss a little.
Maybe I'm too noob?

Look the life comparison, I used 7 storm bolts and poison arrows:

Edit: It seems that the 2nd boss is way easier than the first one. It could be due to 2 reasons:

- Movement speed
- Creeps summoned movement speed



Slow Poison:
- Please reduce the attack speed reduction of the Poison Attack of creeps. It's really hard to kill a creep when you've a really slow attack speed.
- OR, you could increase the attack speed of the heroes.
Sorry, no image for this one.


Suggestions:
- You could make extra modes for the game
- Try increase the bounty awarded for the creeps a little
Other than that, this is truly a fun game to play.

-About the hero descriptions, I haven't added because I was trying to upload this map quickly so people can test, but nice idea to upgrade the description and use color codes, definitelly expect that on v1
-About new heros, I will probably add 1, 2 or maybe 3, one of them would be a death knight, that actually, uses one of your recent models as a spell
-The orb effect description will be added, thank you
-About the AI, glad you liked it, its a simple system that orders them to patrol random points LOL, but the rangedattack ingnoring is just a small bug that I'll think about later
-LOL I never noticed strength was written wrong, thanks a lot!
-I'll replace 'during' with 'for' in all the cases
-Ok now that's my newbieness again, i'll limit the heroes
-I noticed that shuriken bug in the multishot too, I don't know how to properly fix if though, but if it keeps happening I will think of something to remove the dummies when bugged
-Ok now I also thought the first boss is too hard on single player, next version he will be adjusted to the number of players, the second boss will not be as slow as hell too
-The attack speed poison is only on early levels I think, but I will reduce it, thanks for telling me that
-I'm thinking about a tower mode, where players must protect a building in the middle, however thats just an idea yet
-Bounty increased a bit

Ha I noticed that too, it was because I was testing her ulti on low creeps no to kill them, however I forgot to reenable the damage before submitting.
The dragon claw is indeed bugged, but I already fixed it now

I'm updating to v2 as soon as I finish a few fixes and the new hero, introducing the Death Knight, here is a preview of his skills.

Fear - Small AOE cast that prevents enemy from attacking and casting spells for 4 seconds.

Soul Steal - sends a coil that moves to the point and return, dealing damage to enemies in the way and healing the death knight when returning based on the damage done
Graveyard - summons a grave that reanimates nearby corpses periodically
Runeblade - grants the deathknight an attack that decreases armor (might change)
River of Souls - ok now here I'm trying to do some shadowmourne-like spell with a lot of souls around the death knight, the effect they will have I'm not sure yet

If you have any suggestions about the skills, please tell me!

I don't know what level of complexity you want on your skills but in my opinion Death Knights are complex things. Made to fit the roles of dps/semi-caster/semi-healer. Runes are stored as a buff and stacks using its level. Will probably need some balancing.

Units touched by this spell lose all their runes.

Well my idea was for him to have a decent damage without the runes, and good damage with it. This means he has to be able to attack as much as he cast spells making him some sort of hybrid. Also attack speed helps him quite much as he is able to put more runes on targets, but it isn't everything. He is more than just "auto-attack brb" like your Axemaster hero. A tactic is to attack many different targets, then position yourself appropriately and use Soul Steal to deal good damage to enemies and heal allies.

Very nice arena/survival game, I played map few times and really like how author fixed all suggested things and improved map so far.
Spells are cool and ok, some are unique, items builds look epic as well, number of items combinations increase with each new update.
Map preivew, loading screen, tooltips, floating text, colored things, warning hints and so on, look great...
You can see damage show and ability show system...

Just tried this out a bit.

First of all Death Knight's learn tooltip on Soul Steal says 25% but the learned one says 20%.

Secondly Demon Lord's Dark Portal is simply OP. I have at least 6 Eredar Diabolists to curse all opponents and perma-stun bosses. I just soloed the whole game without the use of those stun hammers nor wards, which is more or less impossible with any other class. Also he never ran out of mana making his Ritual ability useless. Also Death Knight and Demon Lord are rather similar in concept.

Thirdly Finger of Death deals damage to allies as well? This does not bring skill into the gameplay, only hassle.

Also Demon Lord's ultimate seems to select the units before impact which results in not damaging units who were outside its area at first but is inside it on impact, and damaging units who were in it at first but ran out of it.

Assassin's boomerang blades bug when moving after having casted the spell.

The map is quite addicting I daresay. Cheers!

Fixed most of your bugs and nerfed imbalances a bit, however for the assassin, I don't really know how to fix the Double Throw, since its a imported spell, but I may add a command in the future to debug if it keeps happening(ranger also haves that bug).

Nice changes. But I was wondering; why even have a Safe Zone when you arena is already round-based? It would be cool to always be in the arena, but when the round expires the Heroes are moved to the middle and shops are placed around them. The shops are removed when next round starts.

Well but then in PVP mode, how would the players interact with the shops, be invulnerable and fight at the same time?I'm thinking of adding even more places to the map :con:

Only Campaigns and Melee Maps can be played in single player...
And yes, i choose the Paladin (Obviously) and i dont even winned the first wave!?!

Well the first round is extremelly easy, each monster takes like 2 hits to kill so I don't know how you died so fast, try again with other hero maybe?

Thanks, glad you liked it, the priest is a main healer(bosses on multiplayer are much easier to defeat with a priest in the team) but also a later game damager, with his Holy Shock spell dealing massive damage based on intelligence.

[+] Okay I confess, I played it solo just to make a review since my friends just wants to play DotA all the time. and I still continue on with my work, I can't surpass the boss "Kruul" with some of the heroes, but when I used the "Berserker", I only reached at the boss "Mugthol". for me, this map is definitely a team play, I like it! and no bad difficulties for this section, which I declare it perfect!


Gameplay [8/10]
Note:
[+] The game is fine for me, but I do have some suggestions, try making some commands or dialog or whatever you like for people to play the game solo, an example of Blizzard's "Skibi's Tower Defense", were 1-2 wave are allowed when a solo player is activated, even though your map is a hero survival, it still can be implemented if you want.

Terraining [10/10]
Note:
[+] I like the terrain! you did your best for doing this map and I like it very much, especially the lobby room were players can't harass each other. good one!

Synergy [5/5]
Note:
[+] All of the heroes I encountered so far were all great! I really like the Berserker so much and the Death Knight you made, another perfect score for this section
[-] Items were too simple, try making more advance and powerful items for players to enjoy their item builds, and try to make an npc that will show all item recipes instead of making the players to guess what will happen


Again with the Items, when I made the "Vampire Axe" (sorry I forgot the item's name). it requires "Axe III" and "Mask of Death", but when I made it, it took 2 "Axe II" and the Mask which made me wonder, if you do find this bug, try fixing your triggering dude, and everything will be fine, thus I only found 1 bug for now.

Total Score [46/50] Grade [96%]

Excellent Map dude! I really like it, hopefully I might ask my buddies to play this game since were pros at playing DotA, I'll ask them to play some more hero survivals, then again I hope you liked my review, since I played your game many times and it rocks! hope to see more good changes in the next update
