Castle Fight v1.13b

An Epic Battle between the two Castles, the Castle that gets destroyed first looses the game! Maybe the best battlefield clone ever. WARNING: addictive!

I have updated the map to the new version 1.04 which has A LOT new features, like
-a new race
-10 new buildings for existing races
-items to boost your worker
-better AI (here is your single player mode :p )
-some new commands & many many other things (for a full list of changes visit gex.eeve.org, there is a changelog link)

A very good map.

Game play is unique (at least for me).
Rounds are short so you don't get bored.
The AI works almost perfect as a supplement in teams.
Balance is good compared to the huge differences of all the units (not 1v1 ofc, but 3v3 or more).
Very addictive game play. Have not played another map as much as this one.. ever.

A fun spawn-based strategy to play.

Good
  • Artificial Intelligence. This is the only strategy map I know of with a challenging AI.
  • Wide range of unique races, each with their own strategies.
  • Thoroughly balanced, with no clear 'imba' races or units.

Bad
  • No tech tree. I could save up for the most expensive spawn if I wanted to. This makes the game lose a bit of it's long-term interest as you're limited to spamming a few different units rather than saving up for a really good one.


Overall I rate it a 4/5.

I don't mind the added freedom you get from being able to build what you want from the start. Atleast against human players, saving/building something expensive early on might cost you the game as the other can just build a cheap counter (dmg/armor wise or flying if ground melee) and possibly a second one to counter whatever is most likely to come out next.

But in 1vs1 games, it can get unbalanced. For instance Banshee against another that has no eary-use chaos/divine.

I never play with less than 2 or 3 on each team.

Gex, me and my cousin play this map on Bnet all the time.. its basically our DoTA... we're very addicted to it and we anxiously await your upcoming versions!

This map is so awesome, me and my friend seriously plays it everytime we have the time to do so. Though I sometimes get annoyed cause the "Bots" are annoying from time to time. :p Anyways, thanks for the v1.13b :D

Played it yesterday, still enjoyable like in the good days. The late game however gets boring fast imo.

I used to hate it every time the AI does this.

FBI: (I'm going to use RS!!!!)*5
Me: Use it! My tower's going to be destroyed.

10 seconds later, right after my tower goes down, then the AI used it.
I just hope the AI is fixed from doing that lol.

Edit: I can't test it. The Warcraft 3 won't load it. It just simply sends my screen up then back down again. Anybody know why? Help!

So I took the terrain and object data from CF and I'm about to re-implement everything.
The basics (mode/race selection, attack, castles) are done already, as well as most races.

First of all I want to reimplement it like the original, with some bug fixes (stun totem lag) and some minor balancing (e.g. warlock AOE spell cooldown 12 -> 15secs, mushroom nerf, ...), and some convenience (cam reset, sync).
Then probably add some optional extensions.

Not sure if I can get it ready till Christmas though ;-)
