Its really good (I wanted to say looks great but NFWar was faster than me) but doesn't have the warcraftish sense... and there are also blizzard's gems that are good enough... and they also have all colors of gems (blizzard ones), so I suggest you to make more gems so it gets more useful...
I mean if you get the point, I would use blizzard gem items because there are a lot of variations and colors.
Overall good but I give you 4/5 cuz it hazn't got the warcraftish fealing! =D

[This you should consider]
= First, Goodjob on that drawing, the angle is great, the colours are great, and the drawing is good too. But, if you want to really give that ''ruby, gem'' kind of feel, you need to create different tones and colours tons, right now, you made it look like a plastic gem, because it's the same blue everywhere... take a look at this picture. as you can see inside the ruby you have all the lightning reflection and you see throw it as well, creating a multitude of ''panels'' and different tons of red in the shape of the ruby. |

the shading is rather simple. i approve it for now but next time consider making it abit more complex/rich. add distinctive highlights and light refractions etc.
