~40% of unused space is too much for an icon.
As with plenty of your works, this is rather blurry / undefined.
Define each shard (highlights, look up reference images for lava), make some of them brighter than the rest to add depth.
Blizzard Entertainment's "Blizzard" icon is a great reference for all of your shard icons aswell (alignment, definition, shape).​
