P.S faces aren't that easy to make.

Edit: Small changes based on spasorc's feedback.
June the 19th 2015: Darkened background and changed its color a bit. Thanks to Sin's feedback.

Very cartoonish, reminds me a bit of CarbotAnimations drawing style.

He has a strong facial expression that contributes to the cartoonish style.
I am not sure, but are Protoss even able to express their emotions via face ? I cannot remember seeing facial expressions in WoL.
I see the reference picture has this kind of expression, too. I am not sure about it, tho.
Nonetheless, they are greatly executed

You could add some more shapes to the chin ornament, as you can see in the reference it is not a cylinder, but a bit more creative.
Additionally, you could think about adding the hair, too. The current version feels a bit empty towards the background, doesn't it ?

The eyes seem either too small, not well-defined or not glowy enough. I cannot say for sure (it's glow I guess). I'd add the tendrils at the back of his head aswell. Overall this is a great base. With some tweaks here and there, I am sure you can make an excellent end result.

You could slighy decrease the teal glow around his head, it makes the head fading with the bright background.
Additionally, his back head looks strange, I don't see Protoss having cube heads, it looks unnatural ( beside the fact they are aliens).

Maybe spasorc could give feedback again as well, so you can make this perfect based on his comment.

Please keep that to yourself!
Your comments on my icons are not required if you keep giving criticism based on your preferences.
Also just to burst open your bubble, I'm not making icons to please each individual's view.

I'll consider listening to your comments after you've changed your take on giving proper criticism and attitude.
Until then we have nothing to talk about.

So, here's the thing. Your personal preference doesn't matter in the slightest goddamn bit. There is a request section for you to get a resource changed to fit your needs.

Criticism in the Resource sections should be based on how well done the product is, not what the fuck you want specifically. People that do that are fucking infuriating.

Now, that aside, I like the icon as is, though, the shadows are a tiny bit too dark, coming off as thick, black lines. Even so, this is a fine icon.

Exactly my problem with this community.

Exactly my problem with this community.

What do you expect from people commenting on your icons ?
Of course, none is making resources to please a particular user, excluding requests.
If a little user like me posts a comment, it is understood as 'applying personal taste' and 'requesting changes based on needs'.
But, if a moderator posts a moderation, then of course you follow his advices to get it approved, if you want to have it approved.
I don't dare to say I am as experienced as a moderator and beside the fact my tone was not appropriate, you can simply ignore a users post.
Sadly Heinvers decided to delete my VM in which I excused myself for my behaviour, but honestly, you overreact.
Post a resource and you have to expect people commenting on it, whatever their comments consist of. If you only listen to people you favour, then that's your problem.

The icon looks great, Heinvers.

alritey some things

first off, don't listen to direfury coz he's completely wrong (and a bit of a potty-mouth). almost every piece of criticism is subjective, and inherently based off one's preferences. don't make the same mistakes i made in my early icon days; be grateful and open to feedback, especially when someone raises pretty obvious and fair points regarding the icon's cartoonishness & inappropriate glow

secondly, your icon looks good but it suffers from cartoonishness & an inapproriate glow
the cartoonishness is because of the very visible black lines separating significant shapes. the lighting looks great on the right side of his face, but the left side/back of his head looks way too flat and confusing in terms of light direction. also where's his neck :0 if you are open to improving your icon, i can go more indepth to specifically point out what i mean
glows in general just don't work in wc3 unit icons. if you're really adamant (or lazy), then keep it and i guess it's not the worst thing in the world
