Attempt of a Blood Elven sword?
The "wings" above the handle are quite disproportional to the rest of the icon, and the handle looks quite plastic without proper shadows and it somewhat unites with the golden wings because of lacking borders. The gem and feathers around it take too much space for a sword icon - the blade should be visible the most. Gem looks like plastic, too. Try with higher tones, many manipulations of white and dark red, and also the shattered effect of borders - all in one goal to get the shiny gem effect. The blade uses pale, boring tones of gray colors - try with heavy difference between white and dark gray to get that stunning shining effect. The background doesn't fit with anything except the color scheme - either make it purely black (The Warcraft way) either make the sword glow, and the glow fainted when closer to borders. Oh, and why are there three different types of shadows?
Nice idea, but lacks proper execution and a bit more originality.
2/5 - Lacking.

come on give him a break it's not that bad, the sword is just "fat" :))), if you were aiming at a blood elven sword I don't think they use thick blades but more small refined ones...the blade in proportion with the handle is HUGE, thin it a little more to match the handle and yeah the blade is the most important visual part...

When updating the icon, it's a good thing to attach the old one and the new one to your updating information post, so that we can compare the differences. Also, it would be nice to write down what is changed, and are you satisfied with results. I attached the image for you, this time.
Give me few minutes and another review is coming.

Edit: Okay, the icon looks nicer. The handle looks much better now - but I still don't like the material it's made off. Try with many horizontal low opacity hard brush moves of black or dark red color to give it some texture. The blade texture confuses me a little with the 3D shading, but I guess I just haven't got used to it. The gem doesn't look like plastic anymore, but I think that few darker brush moves would get it perfect - right now, it's a little too bright. The background is a major improvement - see how the whole sword stands out more now?
Stunning update - enough for me to change my rating until next.
3/5 - Useful
