Sin'dorei300: I think u have to put into practice the suggestions of the contest's Jury.
Also, i'd like to quote Hemske: "I love that you tried your hand on such different type of icons especially considering your level of skill. That's really brave of you and I admire that."

Nah Kay, A Void, I'll just improve it(together with the Grom Icon). Sorry for being so negative.

But, I don't really know what to improve here :(

I guess you don't need my opinion and suggestions since I am making your day worse. But since you asked,

. As I said, all of your icons needed polishing.. I edited your slam icon and polished it.

You WIP's did look much better than the finished result, it was going really strong, except it was a bit flat. Why did you decide to change it? If I may ask.

Now it looks like a boulder and a very cartoony effect. The direction A void is taking with it is pretty good. And more close to what you had going from the start as well.

Its blurry and dull so i removed those. I made a very big mistake. If i could just edit these...but I cant, just after the contest moderation maybe.

Made things clearer, Void. That MAY stop this useless issue. It wouldnt happen if ypu just ppinted out the flaws erlier.

If you need to use my polished version I can send you the .xcf file. Here, I updated it a little-

When thinking about the stone as a texture, it is sharp, crisp and crude.
So, sharp shadows, sharp outlining and a bright light source, along with sharpness instead of smoothness, will all do miracles on stone textures.

The explosion should not exist only as it is, but there should be a ground as a background from where it came from. Some neutral color or darker grass texture around the slam, along with dust and moving particles of earth around the fist will make it more realistic.

Also, when picking a color for a neutral slam like this, you'll want to go with one bright, and two darker similar colors to make it pop out but to still hold the control of not making it overwhelm the icon, since stone usually has no color other than grey, which is a neutral color.

Let's give an example with orange explosion, and dark yellow and dark red motion particles for detailing and tuning it down. Or a light blue slam, and dark green + dark navy movements.
