The skull head seems to realistic and big enough that it already covered most of the shield. I would suggest making it smaller so the edges of the shield would be noticed and that it could be known as shield more.

I agree with PlankingWolf, the old version could be used as a hunched skeleton warrior or something similair as well and is thus more useful.
