I like it but the fire/lava should glow a bit more. It feels like it's changing from a really thick and strong fire to a dark (what seems to be the black background) area too quickly. A good trick to draw fire is to remember that there are a lot of different colors, the stronger the fire the brighter the color. So it should gradually turn darker as the fire fades away. For example, you could go from yellow/greenish to orange to red to purple... Hope that helps :)

Edit : Personnally, using white to show the hottest part of the fire helps me get it right but I've seen people draw without white too, it's just a matter of style !

Like other people here already said, the fire needs work.
That fire seems too solid and smudged blankly, it lacks shapes and shading.
I don't know what those black spots are.
The character, what happens to him? He produces that fire or is he affected by that fire?
I suggest u to increase the level of detail(regarding the fire).
A richer color range could be used.
Add some shapes, use some shading.
Define those black spots better. If they are rocks, make 'em look like rocks and use shading to avoid flatness.
And, like i said to other icons of urs, a powerful effect can not leave someone/something near it unaffected.
The shading plays a big role. A successful icon without shading doesn't exist.
I advise u to read some 2D art tutorials and practice.
