Bladesong: Crimson Skies: V1.3

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
The world of Bladesong is a large diverse one, from the Deserts of the North, to the mountains of the south, from the central plains to the archipelagos of the east. It was once filled with a variety of faiths... The worshipers of Light and Shadow, Earth and Air, Water and Fire, once lived side by side. But those of the Fire initiated a crusade, and the others fell before them, until only hidden remnants remained. And the empire thrived.

Now that empire has fallen into only a remnant of its past glory, and others have risen where they once ruled. The Mandelayan Priest Kings control little outside of their Holy city, with savage Arcani war tribes to their north, the armies of the Elasian Empire to their east, and in the south the mysterious Aquelli emerge from their rain forests. Beyond them plainsmen roam, and bandits emerge from their fortresses, powerful enough to challenge even empires. The Pourtean Pirates land on the eastern shores bent on plunder, and Desert Nomads have overrun the border forts in the north. Meanwhile the young nation of Astell deploys its armies comprised of serfs and legionaries, determined to extend their lands. But perhaps most dangerous of all.... the Elementalists have long waited in their hidden fortresses, training armies to retake what was once theirs, and shall soon pour forth into the world once more.


This map is a newGen type map which allows the host to decide what the gameplay will be like, and what form the teaming shall take. At initialisation the host chooses between

A: the atypical Diplomacy style game, in which players capture circles of power which provide income, and train troops independantly from barracks.

B: LOTR style spawn gameplay where every player has a limited number of bases which automatically create troops at intervals. Spawns may be upgraded throughout the game.

Also the teaming of the game is chosen.

A: FFA
B: teams of 2
C: 5 v 5
D: Total diplomacy, in which players make and break alliances through chat commands.


This map is not protected. This is not so you can edit it, so please restrain yourself. If you DO wish to edit it please contact me, since i will probably not be conducting any more updates, and there were further things i planned on adding in. It is unprotected mainly for the purposes of helping new mappers, providing inspiration, etc etc..

I have opened your map and noticed sometihng quite interesting...
Did you convert all your triggers to JASS? Since it's obviously not written yourself.
Here are a few examples:
JASS:
    if ( not ( IsUnitAliveBJ(gg_unit_o001_0001) == true ) ) then
        return false
    endif
(if not is weird and the BJ....)

JASS:

Now, why would I copy this you think?
This is the standard line between the actions and the events, meaning it's converted.

JASS:
function Trig_Circle_Change_owner_2_Conditions takes nothing returns boolean
This is about the "Trig_Circle_Change_owner_2_Conditions", which is standard (Trig + Trigger Name + Condition/actions)

I can sum up a lot more, but it's already clear I think, so why did you do this? Because incompetent mappers don't understand anything of it?
If you want to help the new mappers, leave it in GUI, since this will confuse the people who like to learn JASS, this is really bad JASS-scripting.

I'll try to give a better reply when you explain this ;)

To be honest.... i actually forgot id done that.....

..yeah i did convert it over. I did it a while back n i only really uploaded it here to help people, so yeah i spose it is a bit counter-productive.... whoops....ill see if i have a copy where its not converted....

Problem is if i do its bound to be an older and probably buggy version....

If you know JASS, you can clean up the scripts as good as possible, uploading a bugged version might be even worse...
And well, now everyone can see how bad GUI actually is, if you compare this to a real JASS-script, the GUI-script looks like crap ^^

I know Jackal from the diplo forums :p Hes not bad once u get used to him. Ive had worse lol.

(Note: when the game starts, warcraft converts all GUI-triggers to JASS, so this is how it looks like in-game, even if they were GUI-triggers).

Which is why i converted them i think..... Something about cutting loading times or something... i dunno hwy since it would only take a fraction of a second to convert it but it made sense at the time lol.

Oh you finally uploaded this Asas, nice.

Even though you intended to go back and change it a bit, the map is still relatively sound and is definitely fun.

Here to echo Inferous mainly.

Us from the Diplo Community gladly vouch for this map. We were there through the thick and thin, through drunk and sober Asas. It all came together to create this beautiful map

Which is in no way sensibly balanced.... Yet is balanced anyway :p
