Gray Style Marble Tiles V2.blp

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Well since ive recently found out a horrifying rule last thread i went through a pointless and time consuming process.
My last thread of Marble Walls was slatered becuase it wasnt 75% freehand.
In this case i spend a pointless 3.5 hours going over a present image to get this outcome. Its 80% freehand, well becuase there was a guide line.
However i believe theres proberbly another rule for having this text.
The marble walls just didnt fit in with the current tiles.
So i hade this made.

Please be free to slater and critisise me becuase im a good listener.

only one tip for you :) hours, in the skin/model/map business, we're talkin' days, weeks months of hard work.

this looks cool, buut it could be far far better.
of course you could well use knowledge of model wrap on the skin.. although i'm unsure where to get that.. my skins were bad as well..

what you could do is to check out all texturing/2D tutorials here (and on any other site) for input on how properly to draw up something in any program of choice :)

I can recommend http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/2d-art-tutorials-281/mr-goblins-tutorial-110127/ hope it'll give you some heads-up :]

Well overpainting something is not really freehanded aswell, I did do that with the first skins of mine aswell, but it is really waste of time. One thing you should always have in mind. Filters and CnP from not warcraft related things nearly ALWAYS looks off in a strange way. It can be toooo perfect, sharp, to blurry, stretched, etc.

Complete Freehand is the real thing!

Unfortunatly im going to disapear for a month on holiday, i am looking forward to seeing comments when i get back.
The reason why it was a quick paint over process is becuase my last cliff skin looked rediculious with WC3 ground tiles.
So io had to create this, soon as possible so people can spot the link between cliff and floor. :)

Though there have been a few occasional exceptions on CnP skins, like the Naga Catapult, the Naga User Interface and the Modern Asphalt Tiles, and the usage of the sources must be legit (using wc3 textures, royalty free stock images etc.).
And most of these exceptions usually go unrated.

For this skin:
Watch out when you make tiled textures. Many newbie tile makers manages to get a lot of seams when the textures are wrapped on the environment and that result looks very nasty. My advice is that you make them as seamless as you can.
This tutorial can help you how to make your tiles seamless.

This seems rather dark for a WC3 map, but what kills it is the overly evident repetitiveness of it. You might want to try and use some subtler tones in the cracks and see if you can pull off some more variation in the tiles (I can see you've repeated the same exact bit of marble on different locations in the texture file as well, with some patience I think that could be avoided and make this much more pleasing to look at).

Wait, what? Textures are so small they hardly take more than a few hours to do.

I'm offended, i have no interest at spending weeks on a skin, sorry but i have to work, educate and be social. you may not have a social life but don't call me lazy. I bet other skinners don't spend day and night to create a skin.
I'm pissed off now, i want the skin removed.
I'm removing the skin tonight.

You should not give up that fast. I know that it's hard to begin, but I also do know that you can do it. It's just a matter of patience and your will to learn. And even if tatakenji is right. you do not need to rush your skins using days and night. Working on a skin does take time, for sure. But who forces you to release it the next day?! Noone. I do have a lot of unfinished skins that I do work on from time to time only.

If you do want help in continuing improving your skins, feel free to contact me here on Hive!
