Billboard

A billboard! :D

Used in modern times, to advertise some products while people are driving.

If you want to add an image to it, use the portrait model as a destructible, then put a texture of what you want to advertise in the replaceable textures in the object editor of the destructible.

The model has no ad.

update: Fixed the rotation and height of the model :)

update: Added a portrait, which has a dummy advertisement :)

update: with replaceable textures

update: Changed the death animation to a more realistic and cool one. :D

update: added decay animations that would fit the death one :)

update: Fixed particles to fit the death animation more.

update: Fixed decay animation and reduced poly count.

Please give credits if used :D

Kwaliti:

You could really add a plane with a dummy texture which people can replace and have custom billboard design.

EDIT: With that death animation, you'll need a decay animation as well.

EDIT 2: This is a doodad, you only need one decay animation called 'decay'.

EDIT 3: Alright, that's it.

Bisnar13, add a Replacable Texture with an ID that nothing in-game uses, such as 100. Then, in the object editor, people can choose what texture wraps in place of the "replacable texture" without having to do any extra imports. You'll need to make sure the part using the replacable texture uses the whole texture. The easiest way to do that will just be to open any image in War3ModelEditor, a model will be created using the whole image as its texture. Then export that geoset, import it into your billboard model, and set it to use Replacable Texture ID 100 and make the material for it.

If you didn't quite understand, or need more detailed instructions, check my tutorial:

How to Use Replacable Textures

I made it for trees, but if you scroll down to the bottom you'll see some instructions on how to use it for replacable flat planes as well.

fixed now, I think..

one question: what will be the path of the texture?

edit: Added a better death animation :D

There will be no path, it will just be Replaceable ID. Then, you can in-game apply any texture you want to it without importing them or changing texture paths.

If you don't understand, check the trees in the object editor in World Editor, they use replaceable textures. If you still don't understand, check my tutorial that I linked above.

Ohh, if its used as a doodad only right?

Right, for destructible doodads. (If you want them to not be destroyable, and to have no pathing and not be selectable, you can change that, but it has to be the destructible class; environment, props, and such, don't seem to use replaceable textures properly, only destructible class.

It looks good, and the replaceable texture will make it more useful.

People can now import little advertisement pictures and such and wrap them to the billboard individually for each billboard, without having to import new models. Since they'd just be advertisement decorations, such textures could be saved with a low resolution and low quality, with file sizes as low as 10 kb, and still look reasonably well on the sign.

I'm giving this a 4/5, it will be very useful for placing maps on it in any game, and for placing advertisements on in modern maps.
