Map Info:

This is a 3 teams Battleships Mod. North, South and Goblin Empire are in Battle.

You control one hero-ship. All weapons are on autofire. Learn to fight on the right distance and angle to single target enemys. Three empires (teams) are in battle in a 4v4v2 match. North and South Empire have to defeat each other firstly. While that the Goblins can intervene to turn the tides. Chose out of over 70 ships with unike abilites and counters.

Features:

Battleships is a basic idea by sked. Today there are many Battleships mods. This one has prolly the most different features, such as fishing, whalehunting, doubling (2 uncombined weapons of the same kind double automatically one time to a doubled weapon to get a free itemslot), combining (2 doubled weapons can be combined by buying a combining to one weapon to get a free itemslot) and other things allowing different experiences and outcomes in every game. All tactics and ships have counters.

Gameplay:

The map features a wide variety of ships, early on you only have a really useless and not so cool looking ship, however you can quickly get a better ship and you have a lot of choices, maybe more than 50 ships.
The weapons are also really flashy looking, although some of them aren't really medieval like weapons, but hey it's just a game.
The weapon doubling feature is also really cool, allowing you to upgrade a weapon and keep improving your ship even though you have 6 weapons equipped.
There are also a lot of weapons to choose from and every ship has its own special ability(ies). Every ship does have the 3 basic passive abilities, although please do give them passive icons.
There are also different roles in the map, you can either attack the enemy by following the basic 'AoS' type lanes with AI support or be a trader and get wares and items.

Terrain:

The bases look really cool, you've used matching custom building models and tower models, everything looks very polished, however it still feels a bit empty, there are no rocks, plants or anything around towers that are in the middle of the ocean on a very tiny island. And the areas to the right are really shallow and empty, just some blizzard cliffs with no plants or anything, maybe make some huge archs or something, or a gigantic waterfall area.

Other:

A neat looking loading screen+preview image, the in-game text is short, well written, informative and colorized.
There's also a quest log with tips, the objectives, ...
You've also used neat custom icons for the UI as well and also a custom UI texture, making it look fresh.

Suggestions:
*Bind the skill hotkeys to QWER
*Add text to the exit button like 'Menu' or 'Exit'


Overall:

A neat mod to a great map, although not a lot of huge features and not that many new features and the terrain could have been better.

PurplePoot: I'm "rejecting" this not as an actual rejection but just as a tag to let you know that I've looked at it--it will automatically be reset to pending status when you modify it. I don't doubt that you have permission for this map and know it's been around for a while. It's a fairly fun map, and I'll have to make sure it credits imported material and all but is for the most part likely to be approved.

However, could you please update the description to include some description of the gameplay? A screenshot or two would be great as well, but by no means necessary.

No this map does not support AI yet.
Of course the North and South Empire have spawnships that are moved by script, as in all other Battleships Maps. ;)

Well y I added many political or fun descriptions for items, I like them more then unpolitical talk. ;)
At the beginning my motivation was rebalancing the map to prevent goblins from winning so many games (in the old bs cf 1.6).
Later my motivation changed to s.th. that can in short words be described as telling untold stories, revealing the other side of the coin.

Best Bships mod ever.

This is the only battleship mod that I play. I think it's by far the most unique and there are so many unique styles of play. The weapons and ships are really cool, all kinds of good commands like -discoship. I mean seriously. -discoship.

Anyway yeah +5/5 from me.

Possible Glitch

This might be my own stupidity talking, but I was buying the second tradeship with my captain out of the ship and it froze up my ship permanently:sad:. Either a notice that captains have to stay in their ships while buying new ones or a captain reset command would be appreciated, also, it's not just with that ship, I tried a new game and did the same thing with a ship or two and every time it happened.

Otherwise, One of my favorite games! :pir:

I wonder if any admin will approve the map now... I improved the description and added 7 screenshots. I bet this is the only map under the most played maps in bnet which is beeing rejected here.

Not to mention that there are not many maps who have such an active community and a ranked league with sores and thousands of players on playing it. Really scary that it ever was rejected here - expecially because of all the other approved maps here who are not really played by anyone...

hahaha how can it be rejected here ^^ this map is the reason why i still play warcraft 3 !!! its the best map in the battle net !!! and this explains the magnificence and the big size of the community (just check wc3bs.com )

Here, on THW, we honestly have no care in the world how popular your map is.
At all.
In any way.

A map that nobody has ever heard of and never even hosted on BNet can be approved.
And a very poorly designed map with a huge community behind it CAN be rejected.

The fact that you think otherwise proves what wazzz said as true.
You can't think that because you have a hge community behind you, that you will get an approval.

We have a content filter here.
It filters bad maps.
It's made up of 3-4 Users that dedicate their time and effort to be this filter.

The filter will reach your map when it reaches your map.
Until then, stop whining. There were about 300 people with (that are still) pending maps here first.

Now to the actual situation:
Say_No_To_War, you are clearly the one wanting to make a political fight out of this, while insulting other users without them actually being provocative or anything. Everyone here is trying to make clear to you, that we really don't care how popular a map is, we always check the map's aspects first and also its description on the hiveworkshop, if you're not breaking any rules etc.
And if you do break any of the rules, your map will be rejected. There will be no exceptions for you, just BECAUSE it's a popular map.

The initial reason for the rejection was that you had not listed everyone under credits.
And you still haven't. You've listed some of them and then written 'to be continued'. If you're missing 1-2 users, it's ok, but if you know other users then list them all. However I do not know if Cweeners reason to reject your map was also missing credits.

And please do not insult others an just call them trolls. Try to behave on this site, we're trying to be a nice community.

- I fixed the types, now only AoS & medieval.
- Fixed the screenshot links, thanks, I didn't know that. Is it ok like that?
- I updated the credits again. Still not all iconmakers can be credited due to several reasons:
There are over 160 icons and not all have been imported by myself. But I think the list would be far too long for anyone to read anyway. I made a posting under every ressource I imported in the last years (exept maybe very few who got forgotten due to late evening time), usually I am also adding reputation. The model-, trigger- and spellmakers and the iconmakers who said that they want to be mentioned (in their icon-posting) should be all mentioned.
The list is also a quest ingame which will always be continued, because the map is not finished yet and some may be forgotten. Some even got a ship named in honor of their work, such as olofmoleman, lorc_da_orc and many others.

Well at last not always. Usually people dont start without at least 8 players, so I never thought its worth the work. If you start without Goblins the last 2 lines are removed. But if someone leaves ingame it should be displayed how many kills/deaths he/she had.

I'm not trying to be rude here, but if battleship players would get confused because spells would have an actual fitting icon, then they probably have some issues.

He may be trolling other threads a lot, but not this one. He can be serious if he wants to and it's usually in chat where he trolls other users.
If there really is an issue, just report the post/user.

But to just call it poorly designed or "This map is rejected and can cause errors."
The user did not actually write that, that message pops up when it's rejected. It's mostly a generalized sentence.

I will be looking at the map and probably write a review for it, so until then, pending.

Well the "exit" was mainly removed in a not serious attemt to reduce the number of leavers many years ago. ;) Maybe its time to readd it.

Really I didnt mean my answer to the passive/achive buttons to be rude. Its sometimes very good to hear the opinion of someone external. Active buttons for Passive buttons also stressed me in other maps, but never in battleships cause I am used to it. Will be changed.

I have the permission to edit this mod by the previous makers Timber_wolf25 and Sked.
As far as I know only Battleships Pro and Battleships Crossfire are still active. The numers of players/games I mean are usually only for Battleships Crossfire.

btw: I found the bb codelist now, thx. :)

Best ever battleships maps with a lot of option such as combine recipe, more ships with unique ability in each ship, quest, whale hunts and fishing mode, custom model, guide for newbie and etc but terrain seem poor

Better than other battle ships and always updated

well, i play a long time so i can call it a great battle ships

I implemented the active-to-passive buttonchange, thx. Hotkeys are mostly close to each other, on "wertfgcvbn". Menu text is still invis, it did not make it to the to do list but its still in my mind. ;)

Btw there are less doodads in the offshore areas where nearly no gameplay takes place to improve the performance. The map is already near the normal doodad limit and hard to play on slower pcs.

Gameplay wise, this map is very good. But it feels too much like a communistic propaganda. The author is clearly strongly biased towards the left-wing and frankly this map would be far better off without so many political references.

Why does the map feel like communistic propaganda? There are also anarchist and alot more enviromentalism hints in it ("Greenpeace vs Whalehunters"). What has protecting the whales to do with communism? Tolerance is something to be learned by experiencing it.


I really bored this map already because i used only 2-3 Gamma Cannon and it always won.

Weapons are balanced by formular and are very balanced due to that. In many games you cant afford 2-3 gamma cannons up to the end. In such games other (smaller) weapons can be better to use the value of each itemslot.
And weapons also depend on the range of your allies and on the ships your team chooses.

Communistic propaganda isn't the only one present, but it is the one that stuck out the most to me and is the most dangerous. This doesn't change the fact that a significant portion of the map is propagandistic in nature.

I dont see whats dangerous about that. I never support stalinism/state-capitalism or however you wanna call those "socialist" dictatorships in any but oppose them in many tooltips.

As you can see capitalism is also unable to solve the problems of the world. We have corruption, poorness and starvation at the same time as overproduction and exessive wealth. Maybe I didnt mention the good aspects of capitalism (which are undenieable), but I guess most people already know that out of their rl and from the mostly neoliberal media. I also made the map to show other points of view to the players (and not only communist, but also anarchist, zapatist, enviromentalist, unionists, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, Seashepherd,...). Without that initial motivation I would prolly not have started making maps in wc3 at all.
But I guess we can at last agree that every good thing has also bad sides.

Unions are usually tied pretty close to the left-wing parties which in most places includes communists/socialists. While they can be an effective way to protect the workers from the excessive greed of the employer, they can be and often are used to stifle the competition from newcomers willing to work for less than the union wage, artificially increasing wages through limiting the labor supply and mantaining the status quo in general.

The problem I have with supporting communism is the fact that those stalinist/state-capitalist dictatorships always come from support such as this. Those somewhat educated in the matter spread the idea to the masses, the masses elect a leader, the leader disposes of the disgruntled somewhat educated initiators and voilá, another USSR, China, North Korea or Vietnam.
As you can see capitalism is also unable to solve the problems of the world. We have corruption, poorness and starvation at the same time as overproduction and exessive wealth. While capitalism might not be able to solve this world's problems, the thought it should be is fallacious for it has so far never been proven the problems of this world can be solved or solved without causing other problems. Also the ability to solve the world's problems of other ideologies is dubious. Corruption, starvation and overproduction are problems stemming mainly from imperfect information and geographical factors, which can hardly be changed by ideologies.

As for the knowledge of the advantages of capitalism, the neoliberal media seem to be rather informing the public of all the catastrophes and blunders of capitalistic societies than their advantages.
I also made the map to show other points of view to the players (and not only communist, but also anarchist, zapatist, enviromentalist, unionists, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, Seashepherd,...). Without that initial motivation I would prolly not have started making maps in wc3 at all.
Unfortunately the map shows only the other points of view, showing only the supposedly good sides of some ideologies and only the bad sides of others, coming off as a propaganda piece. Also the level of detail given to the political references is quite inconsistent with the rest of the descriptions.

This is one of the best maps I've ever played,and the best of this kind of map. The hilariousGreenpeace vs Whalehunters? Can't belive it. This led to a question: are you in theGreenpeace?

Work on your community man, its utter shite.
I waited for half an hour to play and get kicked the last minute without a warning.
Always the same shit with leavers and hosts being dirtbags.
The games takes forever to fill and and getting kicked like that is the worst f- feeling.
It's really distasteful and it turns people away from the game.
People already hate battle tanks community, don't make the same mistake they did.
I like the game, but i have zero interesting in playing it at this point.

First of all, can somebody upload the newest version here? On battle.net there are versions 4.90 and 4.91 hosted often.
Also a player called "gerlem" just hosted a fake version of the map. Be aware that this player spreads fake custom versions across the battle.net. Do not join his matches please.
