Bamboo

Hey, I'm in need of a bamboo cluster (take in japanese) model. It should be made with High-Resolution Textures, no animations are required and it should be fairly tall as it is supposed to be placed in a swampy area. As a reward, you will receive +rep, a spot in the credits as well as access to the closed testing of the map. You are allowed to upload it if you wish.

Misha: Hmm.. not too shabby :) although wonder if the texture can be a little bit sharper and maaybe smaller, also you could add a few more highlights to where they would be, because the 'sun shines' directly from above in warcraft. Other than that, cool. Although i wonder if they would be cooler as a tree-like destructible that can be harvested. no need, just suggesting alternate function :)

ah heck, approved :) add more variations and anims for higher rating

For having never seen Bamboo before, you've done a great job (from someone who's also never seen (living) Bamboo before xD).

That being said, this could be made 100x more useful if it were not just a single, solitary stalk & a Doodad... Make it have a few versions at least (for doodad use), and especially make a version that is several of varying sizes clumped together (as in the concept art).
Then, for Pandaren's, make it into a Destructible (grow, chopped down death, etc Anims), and you've got yourself a solid, easy, utility model.

(next comes Rings and things for buildings, but we'll worry about that later. :p)

Hey guys.

I will be making more variations to it (different branch placement, stem height etc), as well as destrucible animations whenever I have the heart to do it. I'll be posting the variations at this comment, posting at seperate thread seemed spammy to me.

Thanks for the compliment.
Sounds nice :ogre_hurrhurr:

I've seen bamboo in real life and i tell you this looks very similar to it
This model is pretty good for terrainers and cinematic makers like me. Or even the others

as some one said earlier, it looks beautiful, the sharp greens wonderful compared to water.

but as somebody else said, it could be 10 times better if you made it into a ward by giving it collision spheres, death animations/birth animations, or even variations such as 1 skin with 3 different color sects and then each variation uses a different part of the skin. just a thought.

its a cute little doodad. I give it 6/10 for being creative and neat looking. im biased against non moving plants because for its size, you could have made it do a lot more =D

One of my favorite models to play around with in a jungle setting. Adds some velocity to the setting by being tall, also blends in well. A must for people trying to make an appealing and well balanced jungle/wetlands map.
