Game Description

AoTL is a hero siege map where you must defend the King and battle forward to destroy the enemies base.
Destroying the buildings stop the enemies unit production. The town is actually being raided by insane orcs
and undeads, you have to go to the heart of their base and destroy that source. This game requires teamwork and is extremely hard for solo play.

Upgrade Troop System: Anyone can donate money or upgrade the troops from the alliance.

Unique Spells: Heroes and even (some) enemy creeps all have custom made spells that are unique and are scaled based on stats

AI Enemies: Creeps and bosses have spells that are most of the time dodgeable and help make the game more interactive.

Item Drops: Runes, tomes and items frequently drop from enemies to help you throughout the game.

This map is actually a remake of a map that i made when i was only 7.
That time I had a dream of being a game programmer and I just wanted to complete and remake this map.

Now I'm currently in a game design and programming school all thanks to Warcraft.

The game is quite hard in hopes of finishing it alone, especially playing it at an easy level, there are missing button imports you might want to add the disable buttons for it to prevent the green missing link icon, the heroes are good, very useful items, and the additional mercenary units is supportive, however, I'm not sure why my allied spawns keeps drawing back instead of attack pushing the enemy until the final boss, you should fix the trigger in attacking point A to point B, if point A is complete, all must be re-trigger to attack point B.

Terrain looks funky, it would be nice if you could just use the cityscape or dalaran theme instead of adding the Draenor theme inside a lordaeron summer.

Overall, the game is playable but on how the play value and time management takes a while, it can be rated better probably on fixed updates or so.

I just had a quick glance at the map and I already noticed that you really need to improve the terrain and fix all the green icons. Any imported icon must have its DISBTN imported as well with the following custom path ReplacableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\
Unluckily, no DISBTN were seen in the Import Manager.
The gameplay seems a bit random and catastrophic from what I could see at the very beginning of the game but I'll give you a more complete review later.

- You have several green DISBTN icons.
- You have a invulnerability skills bound to esc, just why?
- Never explained how reviving is performed.
- There are so many needless buildings that don't do jack lying around.

Its a rather okay-ish hero siege with alot of feature creep. I hate telling people what to do, but I feel that by adding more features as a crutch to a meh hero siege doesn't make it a better map.

if played it two times and got a problem with this, in the first game it works, but in the second game it never works, everytime i press esc i get a message the CD is not ready...7

and why there are so many recipe shops? i think its easier to make alle recips in 1 or 2 shops, you need to search all the time where the recips are

Ohh thats wierd :/ im planning on removing the ESC key thing because making a spell with an escape key is kinda wierd.

As for the items im planning on making them easier to buy somehow. I notice the problem awhile ago i will do something about it soon. Thanks for the feedback :D

Advice!

Should I make all spells scaled on intelligence instead of their primary stat? Because this way tanks can choose to go mage and build damage instead of health. tanks won't be that strong and mages would be more useful.

Any item, hero or boss spell ideas anyone?:D

Oh and next version is out next week with much more unique and useful items! And stronger late game bosses! ^^

This is an interesting game with so much potential but it just seems sloppy and unfinished at this stage. A little polishing needs to happen to make this the game it should be. I'll give you a couple of pointers:


  • The town and map seems so large. It's unlikely you can change the whole map so you could add town portal scrolls. You can teleport quickly to alliance units or buildings so you can quickly get to and from the castle. Make them stackable, cheap and give them to heroes when they choose their guy as a starter item. Perhaps you could make teleport an ability instead? At least for the Engineer there was a spare black slot on the command card. Not sure about the other heroes.

  • Add a countdown timer for important events. Try to keep this minimal to maybe 2-3.
    1.) When the next alliance spawn is
    2.) When the next boss is
    3.) And a respawn timer

  • Stick to the theme of the game. Your theme is medieval. The builder makes 2 units which just don't fit into the game. The lotus and missile turret. Just change the name and model of those guys.

  • Fix green icons like mentioned above.

  • Give abilities/items appropriate icons. The Lotus unit (Engineer unit) doesn't have a fitting icon. Consider importing or changing it for a more suited icon.

  • Memory leaks everywhere. Memory leaks make your map lag. Read a tutorial to learn about them and how to fix them. Very important.

  • Enemies walk through the left gate?

Also, your terrain needs work. The terrain lacks variation, appropriate tree types, the city like path looks out of place, the environment lacks doodads and shrubbery, there is far too much empty space. The list goes on.

I was bored so I decided to play around with your map's terrain. Feel free to use or just learn from it. It's nowhere near finished and I only changed some areas (because your maps so big). It's just an hours work.

If you decide to use it, you'll have to fix some of the triggers. When I changed the base tile set (to allow for city like cliffs), a few units and doodads got deleted I think. You'll just need to replace these units/doodads and update the triggers.

Even skills where some aspects of them might scale with things such as HP/lack of HP, Speed, Attack speed etc. This simply adds build diversity to the heroes.
I didnt try any items.

I am already doing that for items, theres an item that increases damage based on your mana, and there would be one for health as well for the next update. But thanks for the advice, maybe lack of hp would be interesting.

what is the last version to play in 1.27 i have played this map in some large time... why the creator from maps no upgrade diferents version of the map to people old like me just want to play 1.26 o 1.27 version of the map so shame forcing to download a new version with i dont like reforged sad very sad

Hey played 0.77c
The gameplay is great fun and bosses are really challenging, but there were a lot of issues.
-Desync kicked half our party
-Crash kicked the rest of us
-Some ghouls don't send properly and just stack up in base which caused some lag
-Many items didn't seem to work, like 20% Cooldown reduction. My cooldowns seemed unchanged. Transmute item doesn't give +100g as the description suggests ect..

Anyway we really liked the game, but it there were some issues.
