Assault Rifle - Halo

Two things inspired me:
Red Shift
and, um... Halo duh

The Ma5cs, or simply the Assault Rifle, are the UNSC marines' standard firearm. Succeeding the Ma5bs, this new model brings superior firepower in ground engagements. They are modest at medium to long range, and deadly when up close. Ma5c Assault Rifles are air-cooled, gas-operated, and magazine fed.

This model is completely scratch-made, using Mdl-Vis, Magos, and GIMP. It took me a week.

I give you permission to edit the model/texture to any extent, so long as you give me credits.

UPDATE 1: Fixed up wrap a bit on the handle, added stand anim.
UPDATE 2: Improved texture on handle and fixed extruded edges on front of Rifle.
UPDATE 3: Fixed up texture on top, fixed up normals and shading
UPDATE 4: Completely fixed the top of the gun.

I like it! You are certainly getting better and better!

Texture looks great, really nice job on that, although i think the texture layout is poor. There is lots of empty space that you could easily fill that could allow you to get even greater resolution at some parts.

This is how i would have distributed it:

You would obviously be using your own high.res version for the pieces to avoid the blurriness. It is OK to crop pieces apart like thisas long as you follow the bounds of the different polygons. Also, i agree with anarchian that the wrap on the front/bottom still needs improving.

Well, the modeling is good, but nothing spectacular. It suffers from poor triangulation on the chin rest and the mesh could generally be made quite easily by anyone by placing an image in hte background. You are on the right track though and it looks very authentic.

Even if the texture is small, using the most of it could allow people to reduce it to 128x128 without quality loss. 256x256 is actually a lot of resolution for a simple attachment, it is what i would normally use for an entire unit. o_O
