Animated Sky Sphere

This is an animated skysphere. It can be used for maps with alpha tiles (Space Maps, Sky, etc)
+ Has day-night transition
+ Orange-colored during transition
+ Animated cloud texture
+ Sun and moon cycle

Import the file and then use the function below.
  • Environment - Set sky to war3mapImported\SummerSphereT.mdx
DNC for SummerSphereCT2

Update 1 - Added inanimated versions
Update 2 - Added sun+moon version
Update 3 - Added versions with extra color transition, also changed file names

Thanks, yes I created the model out of Blizzard's Summer Sky.
By "rain" did you mean you want to make it cloudy? Like Mc !'s stormsphere in the UTM?

Also, that's a great project of yours! I remember seeing it a few years ago, the progress is going awesome I see :D

@ILH is drawing a fanbase and becoming a genius now, I'm so jealous :p

wow is one of the best models i saw in wc3, really. Can you make one cloudy? i mean, just changing textures, or one with a city or village. I tried make it myself but i put textures with 4000x4000 for better quality but the wc3 chrash.

This is very cool and useful resource. Only one question: evening time for this sky is too short and night time too long( Can you make shorter night time and longer evening?
i used and discover that the model speed (when u use it with the trigger -> Environment - Set sky to war3mapImported\SummerSphereT.mdx) is proportional to the day time speed. So, if you put 500% it will be faster.

I can't do custom textures, but there's a chance I'll try it out.
AFAIR, Wc3's max size for texture is 512x512px.

I saw the new sky and is awesome. Is imposible to make the clouds more porous? i mean more Highlighted, with more definition toon like?

It's a quite impressive work right there, and there are many variations too; I never thought I'd see an animated sky on Warcraft 3. Maybe I am exaggerating a little bit, but it's like switching from HDD to SSD for loading your OS - there's no go back.

Great job!

Awesome resource! I am now using the Star Sphere (Animated) one with an alpha-tile and it makes the terrain absolutely great for my Space-themed map, however I did slow down the animation by a factor of 10. To anyone who has jittering issue due to the rate at which the Skybox follows the camera, you can apply some Camera Smoothing Factor to reduce the issue. It will still be noticeable but it will be way less jarring.
