New ancient war brings you totally new footman battle, battle between ancient armies, play as champion of your army, craft powerful items,
level up your skills, abilities and defeat armies of your enemies!

Heroes:

Main Base (Altar) of each race act like hero in this game, level it up to unlock new units, upgrade abilities and so on!
Upgrading Altar attributes you can increase army hit points, hit points regeneration, attack, armor and so on!

So far there are 18 normal heroes for you to pick!
(Those heroes are very poor and unbalanced so far, but I have legion of testers so don't worry, each new version will bring you 1 new or recreated
hero with more than 50% custom created spells)

There are 4 item shops with both normal items and recipes!
New items will be added with each new update.

I don't want to critic the other maps, but this map really gives me much better gameplay. The design, the description, loading screen and the minimap everything is good. And where did you get the tilles?

Couldn't really wait so tested out with a few people

What I liked
1.Though it took me sometime to under it the New Tier system of gaining Experience over the main building and then upgrading it
along with the spells it could cast.
2.Terrain layout is much different than the other footman maps the Middle Edges had Barricades for making the gameplay a bit different to what it used to be on a flat battle ground like the others and I'm sure one of my allies found some gold in them, good way to get some fast gold rush battles in the start.
3.I played Maiden and my ally was the Blood Mage( Humans ) everything seemed balanced while we we're fighting the orcs.
4. 4 Roshans ? we'll that's what I DotA player would say seeing the 4 huge golems in the middle of each base straight way.
5. The experience text bouncing while the heroes gain it and the color name text aswell.

Bugs Encountered/Suggestions
1. Seems like the main building of the Human isn't marked as Townhall as I couldn't use my TP while I wanted to get out of battle.
2. The Main building was made as a Hero and set to F1, Well I wouldn't say it's anything serious but most players would prefer to see their main hero at F1 than the Building.
3. The Dragon Spawning system, HELL!! the Dragons totally took over everything in Mid we had msgs saying " Player 13 Has Pass Beyond God Streak " I would recommend to make them a bit less or make some land creep instead.
4. The ways to one Base to another is Waaaay to open I think you might wanna put something as HeLLish as those Drakes there.( it has golem but it never seemed to mind if I just passed by )
5. The Night Elf Main building is Somewhat Invisible ? well I did go there with the Gem of True seeing thing but nothing revealed and a wisps we're still spawning at a spot there.

I have yet to Test out the Undead I might update this again ^^

seeing the minor problems I'll cast 4/5, Hoping for good updates soon. :)

Thanks, I will improve this later with few nice things.

Barricades and trees can be and will be destroyed with large number of spells :D
I want to add to map some strategic play!

Me as well, but I want to create few heroes that will be used like group of them (example meepo from dota :D)
So it will be even worse like this: Hero1, Altar, Hero2...

Hey Kobas I gotta say I'm havin a hard time myself with reading this:

Ok, just quick review:

Things I disliked about the map:

-no camera set at game start (should move camera to players altar)
-Learn tooltips have no damage per level info (like default tooltip)
-Healing potion only healed 150 Hp, useless. (my hero had 670 hp at level 1)
-Runed gem reduces magic damage. Doesn't seem useful.
-Blue dragon does a very wide range of attack (ie 123-981 @ 15th upgrade)
-Moving camera on hero revive (good on most maps but a real pain when your trying to manage your army).
-No AI.

Things I liked about the map:

+Stationary hero. Offers potentially powerful support for your army while remaining in the rear.
+Loading Screen. One word > AWESOME!
+Terrain
+Orb. +10 to all,+5 armor,+damage. Good item for a relatively low cost.
+Difficulty setting. Always nice to see.
+Map layout. Plenty of wide pathways for your armies movement, Balanced start positions.

I wouldn't play this map again in its current state due to the annoying camera pan on hero revive. Nor will I rate this map since I playtested the map in singleplay and never got a real feel for the gamplay. (most important part)

However if you remove the revive camera pan or put in a switch to turn it off I'd be happy to give it another go with a friend :)

Starting 1v1v1 game right now.

Review for version 1.2
[+] Starting balance is good. [+0.4]
[+] Good terrain. [+1.1]
[+] Good choice of heroes. [+0.2]
[+] Nice idea to get your new troops by killing. [+0.1]
[=] No suggestions.
[-] Bad unit balance! [-0.5]
-This problem could be easily fixed, just lover the health of the units. They have too much health! Better than heroes in later game!!
[-] Bad item balance. [-0.1]
-Items were somehow too good for their cost.
[-] Bad hero balance. [-0.3]
-Heroes were ok in start, but later they got weak!
[-] Bad instructions how to upgrade units. [-0.5]
-The units were self upgrading or something? My enemies units were better upgraded than my units...
[-] Bad balance overall. [-0.2]
-The balance was terrible in later game.
[-] Bad instructions. [-0.5]
-The instructions side was lacking, what if i was new to footman wars and i was like. What the hell is this?
[!] No glitches. [+0.2]
[?] You had a type, when getting the unit upgrade, theres written that you get a unit every 5 seconds. Altho the base tells me every 7 seconds. [-0.2]

Overall this map gets a 2.5 from me, thats a 3/5. Approved

I can help you with balance but i need to play it more to get a proper balancing idea.

But heroes shouldn't kill whole armies by themselves, that's the point! I hate that in other footman maps where guys with 1 or 2 spells kill units on whole screen!

Hero level 500, alone, can kill 10 or 20 enemy units (some can, more or less)
But not 50 units, and I won't change that :razz:

But hero level 100 with full inventory (powerful items only) should still be able to kill anything :D
(Point is that you need to play around 2 hours to get to level 100)

Bug found > There's no charges on the warsong battle drums recipe! (don't ya hate when that happens)
Other than that I didn't find anything else. But I will say this I played for about 45 min and my game came to a halt. (Lag) My cpu is a quad running at 3.4 ghz w/4 G's of ram I've never had lag in a WC3 map, so you might have a problem there. But I played the game single play to test it. I would suggest a simple condition to limit creation. (Keep the population in check) And help prevent lag.

Other than that I really like this map. For the following:
+Terrain, one of the best looking terrains I've seen on a map.
+Love those potion Icons
+Being able to buy the items and the recipe from the same shop > no running around on a easter egg hunt.)
+Nice doodads, cool little blue light thingys :)
+Stationary Hero, I like this idea, orginal, hard to kill and support for your army.


This map is simple but with quality.
Sure it could be bigger you could have more items but in my opinion its great the way it is.
Quality is always much better than quantity. We not talkin money here.)

When I tested I didn't have all items to make the recipe so i got the recipe. No Charge. I sold it bought the correct item(had the wrong ring) then purchased the item again. no problem.
Its just the recipe item. If you have it in your inventory it has no charge.
 
I usually clean unit group leaks with:
set bj_wantDestroyGroup = true

Also I use some player groups and locations few times and constantly so I don't need to destroy them!

For example:
Circle of Power position is set as Point_CoP array variable, I just use it that way each time when I need to revive hero and so on!

I don't destroy that point, instead I use it within different triggers as well!

Still maybe I made some memory leaks, but all loop actions that spawn forces and so on and 100% leak clean!

I saw a region leak.... I think its in the... spam trigger...
starts count down, 5, .....

well as I see it's 1.3b and I was the Light Blue Undead player
the Starting screen of mine was on the Teal Human place and when I scrolled around and bought a Hero this happened It seems to be only with UD as I've played a 2v2v2 with Ne Orc and Hu ( bugs in them mentioned earlier )

Ok I played this map again with a friend and He had like 50 peons and I had like one unit spawning after about 10 mins of gameplay. Then my altar dies my hero continues to spawn and everytime he's killed it show victory for other player. Serious problems with this map in multiplay.

Problems found:
-Spawning triggers
-Victory/defeat trigger
-altar hero wasn't gaining experience for killing player units.

You just lost some points dude fix and I will replay and adjust my rating :)
