Alternate Orc Peon

An Updated version of the very poor quality Peon model done by Blizzard.

Uses only ingame textures, the textures are as follows:

Units\Orc\Hellscream\Hellscream.blp = Body + hair
Units\Orc\Peon\Peon.blp = Head + Lumber + Gold
Units\Creeps\OrcWarlock\OrcWarlock = Backpack

Enjoy!

There, the "problems" have been fixed.

why do he need a bag if he carries gold and lumber by his hands?

Because you could carry a chopped down tree in a small bag? Or carry Gold Ore in a bag such as that? They're too heavy for it, let alone unwieldy. It's there for his tools that he would use, but also, it is there to give the model that extra little something to make it different.

Must everything on a model be analysed?

If the lumber was in his bag, it'd look wierd as he would be carrying chopped up tree trunks and not struggling at all, just walking along casually. Basically, it looks better graphically to have him carrying it, as it is a more noticeable point to show he is carrying resources.

In my view, the bag contains all necessary supplies for a peon. Axes, various picks, measuring instruments, a tuskbrush, oil for lighting a lantern beneath the earth, a piglet to use as a detection of whether or not a mine shaft is spewing poisonous gasses, and a mushroom for lunch. Surely too many things to fit a tree or ore inside as well!

You're also talking about an Ogre there, who are far larger and stronger than an Orc will be, they can carry weights in that fashion. But really, why the need to have it in the backpack, and why the need for such language? It's abit pathetic people cannot just take the model as it is.

But on the reference to a peon cutting down trees in a few hits. Fine, I agree, I also say that it's insane that a Peon cuts down lumber using a bloody mining pick, yet who sends E-mails to Blizzard saying they need to change their model as it makes no sense? No-one.

Really, just accept models for what they are. It's a peasant model editted so we finally have a Peon who looks better, as it is the worst Playable Race model out there currently.

Or, if you need further persuasion, look at the peasant animations for carrying lumber and gold, it would look incredibly stupid having him walking along with his arm in the air and lumber in his backpack. I am not going to waste a massive amount of time either learning to animate models differently, or replacing all those animations with normal walk anims, just so you people can get your heads around a backpack on a model.

I can take it when the criticism isn't needed to be responded to again and again as to why something can't or isn't needed to be done. But the fact that for every model I upload, people start whining for one reason or another is very irritating. Like my High Elf Peasant model, there were like 2 pages of arguments because I wanted to update an old model.

Those who do alot of physical labour usually are pretty well built. Well, except in the case of builders here in England, but thats usually due to too many bacon butties whilst working :p

And by the way, I can take nice words and I did consider them. And well, sorry for the overly aggressive attitude, its just a tad annoying to think I finally have a model done, and then people won't accept it for what it is. Happens alot really.

Well, I did decrease the head size by 20%, so that should be a bonus for some people. I thought the head looked fine ingame, but its a suitable size for others now too ^^.

I had considered changing the pick for an axe, as I never understood the whole "Mining Pick for Trees" thing. We'll see. Another thing I had considered once was a hammer for repair animations. But I haven't had much luck in the past with geoset anims.

Evil alternate universe peon! Fear his goatee!

I like it personally. I have always hated the normal peon model, this guy looks more like a proper laborer. I don't see the big deal about the backpack, it's just another nice bit of detail, it doesn't HAVE to have a use.
