A Master's Prejudice

The first release of the oft-delayed Starwars campaign, entitled "A Master's Prejudice". It is the first campaign to extensively feature Olof Moleman's wonderful Starwars models. The main character of this feature is Revan, and his mission to take over the Separatist world of Serapin. Can he overcome his petty differences with his female padawan, Elur?

Didn't work for me. When I try to load the introduction, the progress bar load 25% then TFT crash.
The same for the other maps.

I thought that he did it too ^^

I'll play this asap and rate, but I have a feeling that I'll have no choice but to give 10 :)

Btw.Med, are you going to map in Starcraft 2 when it comes out? And what's up with Potsy, are you still friends? ;P

I were a bit disappointed. That's why I gave 9.

Cinematics were great, like always- that's where most campaigns fall short- long and BORING cinematics can spoil the whole game. Terraining and custom models choice is great too. The mission with alliied clones(AI controlled) helping you was really nice, it's a pity that only one mission of that type in this campaign.

BUT.... Plot wasn't really astonishing, whisper is right. No new skills or spells. Heroes were quite basic- some of the preset spells suited Jedi theme, but I expect some NEW skills from a map. Maybe you just don't like triggering or "JASS-ing" spells, but I bet that if you made a topic on the forum and requested for help in spell-making for your new campaign, the feedback would exceed your expectations.

GJ anyway!

Thanks for the comments folks! Yeah, I always aspire to make really breathtaking cinematics despite the limitations of the WC3 engine. I know the story was weak, because I really planned a completely different ending for these characters! They weren't supposed to you know...

My brother constantly bugs me that I should have made another battlefield level. The highlight of the campaign was that massive level, but I guess it was due to laziness. I'm glad you all liked it. :)

Sorry about the lack of new spells. Yep, I am intimidated by JASS spells, especially after my horrible experience with it in Shards of Resistance.

I do plan to go with Starcraft II. And you can bet it will star a certain drunkard...

Oh, Posty's dead, didn't you know? :p

Hehe, reading your arguments on warcraftiii.net was so much fun ^^

Maybe u remember me, I used the lame nick mastablasta2000 in those times. When I came back to wc3 after 3 or 4 years break, I started to use this.

Your only error in this map is that the Knights of the Old Republic happened BEFORE the Clone Wars, which explains why viroblades/swords are common weapons. But I know you're a good map-maker, so it doesn't bother me. Infact it wouldn't bother me otherwise, since it doesn't really matter. But I'm eager to try it out...

OK. This was a very interesting campaign. But there were many bugs, like in the first mission, Revan had Blood Mage spells selectable. In the first mission the clones could only attack ground, and I could not kill the droid fighters. All throughout the campaign, I was annoyed at the fact that you just renamed spells. That's it. Creativity goes a long way into making a map, and even though the cinematics were great, I still felt odd using the same spells as I would in a melee game.

Starwars is a very promising and demanding theme.
Once upon a time, anticipating a fairy Lucas-style tale,
I downloaded a map "starwars". The map was a flat snowy terrain,
labourously divided by a standard WC walls into small areas full of
bastards whose models were classic WC3 ones. The main hero (illidan as
I concluded at first sight but a real jedi as the name said) and two
marines supporting him were supposed to do a dumb cleanup of the whole
territory.
Since then I, being suspicious and unenthusiastic, ingnored any promising
starwars projects. This time the author's name made me change the rule.
The exception didn't turn to be a mistake. In the author's place I would
add a subtitle reading "Episode 7". I'm not serious of course, but the campaign
turned to be a great cinematic show with magnificent scenes full of olof's
wonderful models rarely interrupted by gameplay which fits well enough or
at least doesn't spoil the show. The terrain and doodads are well done though not
sometimes are not very detailed. The gameplay is easy, friendly and sometimes
even challenging (last playable map). The campaign is rather short and leaves a
feeling as if you had to leave a dinner after the first course. I completed
it in 2 or 3 hours.
So what's the conclusion?
I would recommend the campaign for everyone who doesn't feel sick or bored
at hearing Lucas's name. I think, many people, including me, are looking forward
for a sequel.

PS #1 Your Mapmaking majesty,MedMapGuy,we beg you to do some more of starwars!
PS #2 Some bad things. The campaign has no DISBTNs for some buttons (though it looks as if it were a special interface feature). The terrain of the first map makes flamestrike spell completely useless. I think a bit more varied and balanced gameplay wouldn't spoil the campaign.
Final rating 5 of 5 (due to cinematics in the first place)

I don't like the crappy non-custom skills, the bad storyline, and the fact that in the first mission if you lose the engineers you cant beat it, you should be able to lay the BOMBS with the heros
The thing i did love that made me laugh was when i got Mace Windu and saw the Bad Ass Mofo.

My review:
5.0: Play it Now!
4.0: Play it Later!
3.0: Consider It!
2.0: Maybe!
1.0: Avoid It!

Playability: 4.5 There were some bugs but still a balanced map.

Map Design: 5.0 Well, it was made by one of the great creators that I admire. The areas make you feel like you are really in Star Wars.

Creativity: 4.0 It was took from Star Wars, so it wasn't so creative.

Cinematics: 5.0 Man, it was damn good. I really felt like I was in another game. Like I always do when playing Med.Map Guy's maps.

Balance: 4.0 It was too hard. And in the first mission I didn't like that if you lose the enginers you lose the game itself. You should make a revival point or add the bombs to the heroes.

Instructions: 5.0 No problems here. Except that I haved a graphic glitch because I need to reinstall my Warcraft 3 but I didn't add this in the review.(The graphical bug: I could not see my quests!)

4.0 = Play it Later

Last notes: Even though that it was made from Med.Map Guy, it still didn't had the same feeling when I played Joe's Quest,Mordur's Quest,Deandra's Tale. So close yet so far!;)

It's good because it's short as to not get repetitive. But its shortness makes it feel incomplete.

intro:
-the Stormtroopers seem to have forgotten their guitars

stage1:
-the ships lower but the heroes are already down
-it just doesn't feel like Star Wars with Warcraft spells...
-some cliffs that look impossible to climb can be
-cannons explode shortly after the bombs have been planted and friendly units are near them (they don't take damage though)
-I still got pings for the cannon in the middle of the map although it was destroyed
-nothing but a fire animation happened after setting charges in the middle of those four black turrets
-after destroying all the cannons the cinematic scene left some of my soldiers north
-the Starfighters can't be attacked

stage2:
-some of Revan's spells changed...
-the allied troopers remain on some places running about like panicked sheep
-there's a small tree (Warcraft type) in the northwest base
-Speeder's selection circle is just wrong...
-northwest base: a trooper was dropped inside one of those round buildings and can't get out

stage3:
-level 5? I was level 10 in the previous level...
-how did he get the clones to attack Windu? That's not an easy thing to do. The clones have some sort of code of conduct. They only listen to the Jedi Council and the Chancellor. It just doesn't make for a plausible story
-Windu does not have Chaos damage type
-the UI doesn't look too well
-droids die with blood

finale:
-the game freezes on load. This also happened when loading chapter 2 as a consequence of finishing its previous chapter
-Revan's body should have stayed on the ground not went to heaven

I must say that some parts of the cinematic scenes were amazing to behold. 3.5/five.
