"Major exciting features are on the way for Sunken City. Today, I am gonna talk a little bit about what you can expect, what are the design goals and hopefully, you will give me your thoughts and ideas! Let's kick it off with the biggest change."
[!] Everything you see is WIP and is a subject to changes. [!]

New Skill Sysyem
  • Normal abilities that your hero starts with will now be called "Innate Abilities".
  • Heroes will have 1 Innate Ability instead of 2. There will be exceptions where necessary to that rule.
  • You will be able to select your Innate Ability out of 2 possible options, similarly to the next change below.
  • Heroes will now have 2 Ability options for each of their 3 Levelable Abilities (except the Ultimate).
  • Confused? Here is how it looks. Below I will give you a Sneak Peek at the Druid, adjusted for the new Skill System.
Druid
Option 1
Option 2

Innate Ability
Rejuvenation: Instantly heals an ally and leaves a periodic healing effect on it. Causes Treants to spawn with the Lesser Rejuvenation skill, which functions the same way as Rejuvenation, but does not have instant healing effect.

Innate Ability
Wild Growth: Buffs friendly units in a targeted area with Wild Growth which restores health over time. Treants gain Critical Strike and Evasion when blessed with Wild Growth.

Levelable Ability
Arcane Dispersion: Damages and stuns enemies in a straight line.

Levelable Ability
Blessing of Elune: Grants flat Attack Damage and Armor to all friendly units.

Levelable Ability
Hurricane: Channels a devastating storm above a targeted area that deals damage to enemies that stand within.

Levelable Ability
Lunar Beam: Channels an energy beam between the Druid and a targeted friendly or enemy unit. The Druid will transfer mana to friendly units or will drain mana from enemies.

Levelable Ability
Force of Nature: Summons two Treants to fight for you.

Levelable Ability
Nourish: Performs a powerful heal on a targeted friendly unit. The heal will be stronger if the target has periodic healing on it.

Ultimate Ability
Starfall: Causes stars to fall from the skies, dealing damage to all enemies within range.

"Let's talk about this, shall we? From the get go the Druid can select one out of 2 possible Innate abilities. As all Intelligence heroes, he needs a healing skill, however you now have access to 2 options and you pick the one that will suit your way of playing and your team composition the best way. Are there many minions and allies in the game? If so, you may prefer Wild Growth over Rejuvenation, due to its superior area healing. If you have a smaller team, Rejuvenation may prove to be more useful. Both skills have their pros and cons in different setups. How about the Levelable Abilities? Well, Options 1 provide more offensive skills, while Options 2 provide more of a support to your kit. You have the freedom to either go full on the offense, full on support or somewhere in-between. I hope this gives a clearer view on what this overhaul aims to achieve."
  • Almost all base values across all existing abilities will be reduced, while scalings will increase.
  • The power of heroes will mostly come from itemization and stats instead of from simply leveling up a skill until it deals a bunch of damage.
  • No promise on this one, but hopefully abilities will now be relearnable!
  • 9 heroes (3 per attribute) will be removed for this to happen:
Intelligence: Witch Doctor, Shadow Hunter, Flame Warden
Strength: Crimson Knight, Storm Warden, Warlord (Warlord will reworked as an Agility Hero)
Agility: Ice Lancer, Marauder, Spell Thief, Deathstalker (+Warlord ^)
  • Iconic Skills of those heroes will find their way as options for the remaining heroes. (Ex; Flame Warden's Hydra, Witch Doctor's Mana Drain, etc...)

Reworked ESC Stat Sysyem
  • The stats you gain from the ESC Stat System will now be combinations of stats, instead of single options. For example,

Wisdom: Increases Mana by 15 and Mana Regeneration by 0,75 per 5 seconds.
Spirit: Increases Health by 25 and Mana Regeneration by 0,75 per 5 seconds.
Endurance: Increases Health by 25 and Health Regeneration by 1 second.

    And so on...
  • It still isn't decided if a Dialog will continue to be used as interface or if a new menu will be created.
  • Probably a new menu, though...

Other Changes
  • Item Recipes will state total gold needed to create them and the price of each component needed for them.
  • Overall game difficulty will increase across all difficulty settings.
  • New items and item reworks.
  • And more...

"Do you like what Sunken City has in store? This is the biggest change that has ever been created for the map and as such - it will take a lot of time to finish. Please bear in mind that the removal of those heroes is done with the idea of having less, but more customizeable heroes in the game that will offer unique experience for many games. Share your thoughts and suggestions. You can still tell us if you want this change to happen or not in the poll that was created recently."

I'm glad to see you're still working on it, unfortunately yet, there is not enough people who still plays custom maps on wc3, anyway, these are all great and interesting changes, keep up the good work mate!.

Dunno if this is the right place to ask but do you consider releasing an open beta test map with 1 new hero so we can all get that unique feeling of what the new map is going to be like?

Keep it up!
