Can someone explain me why sometimes versions 'jump'? Like this example: v1.0, v1.1, v1.2, v2.0?

Is it cause of the difference between the versions?

Like: First you release the game with 1.0, then you fix some bugs and release version 1.1, then you add something else and release 1.2, and after that you make a huge change in gameplay and so on and you release version 2.0?

Well, it's the same concept of DotA 6.79e, 6.80b, 6.80c etc... It's your own personal choice to add these numbers and letters to show that the map has been updated. If one plans to update his map frequently (like DotA), then he usually uses letters too rather than just numbers.

i know that a means alpha and b means beta, alpha is a pre-release version, beta is also pre-release but it is a uploaded version so the players can try the game and report any bugs etc. that will be fixed in the release version ('c'?)..
