Instead of a pickable item, use say, tome of strength, but modify the stat bonus of the ability to 0. So when sb picks it up, it is used -> removed from the inventory.
Theres a much easier way... you can detect the special "usage" event through a condition, use the event which you use for detecting a casted spell, just use it for the potion "spell".
