Map optimizer.

Mainly why he hasn't used the search function and found the thing himself.

So what? Maybe he didn't know he could, or couldn't find it with it. Is it so wrong for him to hope that someone who knows of a tool that does what he wants will link it to him?

Greetings,

Some one got the map optimizer (the one who protects map/s.)
wich dont contain Winrar or something, just a normal folder.

If so, could you please send me it? :goblin_good_job:

Hopefully this does what you want.

I personally think Cihparg was right in posting that link. Having something provided in a ".rar" archive or other proprietary formats is no issue since 7-Zip came about. Although it cannot make such archives (for legal reasons) it has no problem opening them.

That said no one should be using stupid proprietary formats like ".rar" anymore. The open formats provided by 7-Zip are far more portable and can even compress better in some cases.

I do love 7-zip myself, but I don't think that's what the OP wanted. It's hard to tell what he wanted with the way he worded his post, though.

I'm pretty sure he wanted something to optimize and protect maps. Not to .zip it, at which point you can't even play it without unzipping it, at which point it is no longer optimized and protected, thus serving no purpose whatsoever. Hopefully the tool I linked will do what he wants.

He wanted an optimizer program that does not come inside a ".rar" archive. The ".rar" archive format is proprietary so they try and rip you off into buying a specialist tool to open them and it is logical that one does not want to pay for it. However although construction of ".rar" archives is proprietary, extracting them is not. The open source GNU licenced program 7-Zip supports extracting them among many other archive formats.

Hence recommending him to use it is an alternative to solving the problem. The author can now use an optimizer bundled in a ".rar" archive since he can extract from the archive for free using the program 7-Zip to access the optimizer program it contains.

Yes you do, the one we already linked you. 7-Zip.

It is compressed for 7-Zip to open. Please just download it now and save yourself a lot of hassle. It is one of the most useful tools you can get as it can extract pretty much every standard archive format. It is completely free because it is GNU licenced.
7-Zip is open source software. Most of the source code is under the GNU LGPL license. The unRAR code is under a mixed license: GNU LGPL + unRAR restrictions. Check license information here: 7-Zip license.
