With 18+ Models, maps, skins icons etc. Lets face it, most people on wc3 these days are older then 18. So yeah, let me know who agrees and who doesn't in the comments below.

Also, the 2D and graphics section could need an 18+ subforum so artists can share their renders or artworks.

You don't have to. Legally, putting an "are you older than 18?" confirmation prompt is enough.

It would also allow sharing some nice "base character textures" that can be used to paint new armor designs on.

I used this approach to design the custom textures for the Gaias characters.

I first mapped a naked skin texture on the characters, then painted the armor designs over it so that the skin parts stay consistent:

Yes, 256x256. Ingame, I only use 128x128 (~20kb per texture, changing the textures dynamically via warclub ability). The difference in clarity is barely noticable even on close-up.

Left: 128x128 (20kb), middle: 256x256 (40kb), right: paletted 256x256 (30kb)

The clarity and contrast works pretty well when partially covered up in clothes, so I never felt the urge of changing it.

Didn't you play Gaias before? And yeah it's a pretty neat idea for customization; though only some team colors look good with it (red, purple, yellow, orange, brown and grey).

war3 models can never be used for this particular reason because wrap is atrocious, textures don't even display well ingame, and models themselves are nothing more but an off-putting bunch of random angular shapes, Blizzard has been pervy enough with what they made, we don't need such model uglyness at all..

if you want a sexy model, check out the "Prime Matron" you won't be needing anything else

I wasn't going to share it anyway, as they are basicly just rewraps of original Blizzard models. Uploading such resources would feel cheap. Also, the texture is not made by me either.

But it's good to see we can share nipples.
Actually, there are WC3 default models that are completely naked anyway (like the harpy).

I really don't think it's a problem.

Wc3 models are so low quality that I really doubt - with all other ways of getting nsfw material - that it'd be a problem. Icons as well.

It's not like the HIVE will turn into some wc3 porn site. I don't even think a section is needed, just allow uploaders to tag their resource as nsfw.

What really killed the chance for this proposal was the talk of pornography. As art, this would be totally fine, but I guess this community might not handle it.

Hosting such content is asking for problems. Especially legally as some countries have laws against such content.

However do note that you could in theory get away with quite a bit of nudity in models. After all look at WC3 Harpy model and I guess if WC3 was allowed to ship with that then users should also be allowed to create similar borderline content. After all what nudity can a few very stretched pixels show?

Well obviously if they distorted the wrap in an impractical way over parts they could get high detail textures of those parts. But they would need to purposely and with intent do that which means the model clearly is of a sexual nature then.

Let's not forget that WC3 can handle the display of .TGA files up to 2048x2048 pixels.

So, in theory (and practically aswell) it is perfectly possible to create a visual-novel style H-game in the WC3 engine.


If I weren't so busy with Gaias, I'd probably make such a map just for the heck of it (it's fun to do something completely different from time to time).


I guess this thread was more about having the ability to share such 2D artworks.

I guess they do. I use a couple of 2048x2048 images in a 3x3 grid to map together a giant world map on my intro cinematic and haven't heard complaints of mac users yet:

Just restart the game before joining a Gaias Hostbot. It's because every stupid mapmaker out there is using widgetizer to reduce map loading times; which will cause a desync when playing Gaias, unfortunately.

I wished people would stop using widgetizer, but unfortunately that is not in my control.

There will be no section on THW where we permit uploading adult content.
