Help Needed in Hosting Online Games

Hi, guys, our family has a recent plan to open a game service provider company that can be able to host games. Though, my cousin is quite familiar with it, we also need to know how to set up hardware? What are the requirements needed. We need your opinion please? We need suggestions from expert individuals who are related to this field.

Your question makes no sense. What do you mean by host? Are you saying you want to start a game server provider?

The hardware requirements depend on the games which server you run. A game like WC3 can run perfectly fine on x86 systems such as from AMD and Intel. Other legacy game severs that were usually provided by the development company might have used PowerPC so require IBM server processors. Some games like WoW (which compute on server and stream results) will need a lot more bandwidth and CPU resources than other games like StarCraft II (which only synchronize and store orders).

What you will need for certain is some form of cloud cluster resource management system so you can terminate defective servers to minimize resource waste. Such games are often prone to entering bugged states or being hit by malicious attacks so you need to make sure that such occurrences do not impact the Quality of Service of your other servers.
