Protection W3 Map Optimizer
If you do have any question about this map, register on the official homepage.
I share everything I do, through map open source or systems posted on the board.
The reason the map file is protected is only because of the optimisation which grants a lighter map and, overall, a faster loading time.
As a consequence, this prevent noob-hackers to generate codes.

The map
This map is between a Hero Survivor and an ORPG.
Pick your Hero class, do the quests and try to survive. You may be able to save your experience and the medals earned during the game.
Experience gives you bonus and grants access to more Hero classes.
The story of the map is about the Restricted Complex 601, a private giant-laboratory owned by the Thanatos Industries. It's a global firm leading researches on weapons,

biology, physic...
The RC601 is an underground complex [The first version ever I made was in that complex, but for many reason, I changed it to a game happening on the surface]
Players will be requested to take care of a zombie threat and to follow the orders of their employers.




Game Modes

Story
A mode with more than 50 quests, randomly generated or depending on the success the last quest the team did. Through a game up to 16 quests are playable.
Missions will alternate between base or unit defence, scout, escort, protection, search and destroy...
There are 3 chapters, each one with a final boss (added to the several boss spawned each quest end).

Survival
The team will have to survive to several waves of creeps with an increasing difficulty. Basically, this is a pure survival mode without any other thing to do than survive.

Last stand
The objective is to defend a database in a random base until the army arrives to fight a last boss.

Assault
The objective is to search and destroy NPC bases; there, the players will fight against creeps and NPC.

Team Deathmatch
Same than deathmatch, but players are divided into 2 teams.

Trophy Hunt
The objective is to keep a flag and prevent the opposite team to keep its own flag

A Bridge Too Far
Mode removed.


Difficulty
Training
Not available at the moment

Normal
The basic settings. Normal creeps.

Nightmare
It is like Normal mode with harder creeps (+10 damage and +50% health points, +20% chances to spawn special waves etc.)

Insane
Harder than nightmare; a lot of special waves, more boss or miniboss, creeps with a second upgrade...


Quests
-Complete Quest Trees with random/conditions to make each game different
-Each quest has its own universe of creeps (combinations several unit types)
-Each quest get its own boss
-Each quest success brings experience. If the quest can be failed, and that players fail it, you will not get experience but get an other quest.
-Efficient AI for creeps, allied units and non-hero units to avoid micro-manage. Creeps are able to act with some intelligence (heal, dodge-jump etc).
A part of the creeps will patrol into the direction of the current quest objective, and the other will directly follow the living heroes.
-Proportional difficulty: the more the experience average between players, the harder the game is (Creeps statistic will be improved and chance to get special waves will be

raised)


Heroes
-several heroes with many spells and a different gameplay for each one.
-Each hero has a spellbook with shared abilities
-Each hero has its specific spell tree with up to 16 skills
-Each hero has a different role and gameplay
-Heroes are unlocked if the loaded code provides a rank enough high.


Save System
-Save and load your experience. This allows you to change of hero each game (and avoid a boring unique character).
-Experience brings up to 20 ranks.
-Each rank provides a general bonus (health, mana regeneration, move and attack speed)
-Ranks unlock hero class.
-There is a medal system (since 1.27) for the best players (which also adds little bonus); medals are granted through the achievements of some special stuffs during the game.


Realistic Equipment
Since 1.09 there is no more one weapon/unit and one ammo-type per unit. NPC no longer have limited ammo, excepted they need to reload.
This mean the weapon is "hidden" (no more item to stock in the inventory) for Heroes, and all units have the same ammo-type (item type) they can load or drop from their weapon.
It is less realistic but after a lot of tests, it makes the game less complicated.
Units can carry up equipment, grenades, explosives, weapons...

-Dozen items which can be combined, consumed, some being class-restricted etc

Restricted Complex 601 is organized around a quest trees: you will not play all quests in a game, but only some of them.
Then, the quest you will get will change depending your last quest was a success, a fail, or, sometimes, an other random choice.

This is a good game but you might want to proof read everything you wrote in there. I see some spelling mistakes made. And you might want to make something that tells us how to play the game, such as how to level up (i played for a while but i didn't know how to level).

By the way: at the moment the bot described on the map topic is not activated (I'm waiting for my generous bot renter to do it).

So I use an other bot, used before for my map Stars. So you can play with the bot called stars-host (/whois it). As soon as RC601 bot is on, stars-host will host Stars again.

Well, actually I I don't think they should need to be lowered, you gain quite some exp fast if you play whole games. 500 exp is a bit of pain early on thought.

Btw I got a bug on "rats leaving sinking ship" where 2 out of 3 workers stopped before the ship and wouldn't go on it. I tried killing the 2 remaining as last resort but then we couldn't' progress further...

Also sometime there is just too much allied marines, I found myself alone (all allies death...) and there was like 30 marines with me, no need to do a thing.

Please, precise about the cross and how to revive somewhere because it strains newbies that don't know if they can or can't be revived... and it's somewhat annoying.

Finally, will you look into remove perhaps the weapon and ammo for inventory slot ? Because we can't change them and they still takes 2 slots, which is pretty annoying.

Actually we played 3 games yesterday with same guys and we reached chapter III.

The thing to understand is: prefer jump and run than tank. Creeps damage and health seems okay now. I want the map hard.

But of course balance is needed for most of heroes. I will raise attack rate, for example.

Ah and by the way, you are welcome on the dedicated board where players have started to report bugs and suggestions :)

well we were 5 and we barely could kill ghouls before they get to us... and running isn't always possible...

I know I had firebat but still... the map can be hard but must not discourage newbies or... the popularity will seriously drop...

(on that note, a periodic on current quest emplacement would be good, both here and in 300BT)

Also there is tooltip mistake, it seems you forgot to traslate "undead" tooltip from English or German or whateveer language. And that pre-final firebat's ability is passive, not active.

I had more issues but I forgot about the, maybe I'll tell them to you later...

Nah, I think I'll stay here...

By the way, also there is an issue with a mission where you have to send pilots to the mech bay. The decription is wrong, it says that you have to go there to wake up the soldiers instead of that you have to protect the pilots that are going there... you should fix that...

Nice a new kind of survival map with crafter/job classes, I gonna test it right now!
I hope its like survival 1.3xx or terrania!

Ok I tried the map out, its like notd aftermath... the first mission smees to be the same o_O!
However, its much fun to play, I tried it out with 2 comrades. The first 2 games we were more or less clueless, like how we can revive. But we found out and our third game was a success. We made it to the middle of chapter 2 and earned over 500 xp.
But 1 thing so far did bother me, the sounds of the guns are cheap :/! Especially the Biologist shotgun sounds like a spell. Can you fix that if you have the time?
The quests and classes (as far as I can pick) seem to be well made, just the terrain looks a bit empty, but I guess its not easy to add good looking things to a minimized model map.
Btw why dont you make the terrain destructible, like that trees can be cut by grenades or a firebat?

Anyway, I gonny play that map again as soon as I got time, I wanna reach the next rank, to try out th next rank char!

GJ on the fixes of "-Bug fixed: Ammo system: re-added the manual reload on ammos."
I just wanted to report that a comrade got a problem, he died while he was reloading, and after revive, he wasnt able to do the reload and was total usless.. even after we killed him and revived him again, he wasnt able to finish reload.
Thanks for that fix!

umm i think you shouldnt make women zombies shoot because then its very imbalanced. and varun is almost unbeatable for security officers(most of em die from his locusts)

Some bugs in the game ;)

Hello, I've been playing this game for a while now and had alot of fun, but encountered some minor bugs.
- As a Bio, the last bullet of my clip doesn't do any damage, it's there for nothing.
- As a Recon, the stealth doesn't work, dunnow if this is just me or does everyone else have this?
- As a firebat, the last spell in book says that it costs 10 energy, but actually it costs 20 (i don't really care, but it's always nice to have it fixed ^_^)

I hope you read this and try to fix it.

me and 2 friends are doing this with mech/recon/cleaning force... and it's just too easy, every boss goes down way too fast, we won't die... nothing happens.
Can you maybe implent an ''endless wave of zombie-mode'' after the last boss is down that grants rankxp/is challenging/gives some cooler items.

We also got problems with the items, there is always 1 guy running/flying around looking for boxes for items, we think that the droprate of the items is kind of low / the quality of the items are a bit low.
In a full game till the boss Apocalypse we get max. five 'level 3' items and some crappy level 1 and 2 items. Can you maybe fix that the quality improves for each chapter that we do? it's almost impossible to get a level 4 item for instance +8 armor spaulders (if they exist) if we only get +1 armor spaulders.

Yes, game difficult should be exponential, much harder with higher rank Heroes.
Especially the higher rank heroes got a pretty wide fire range.

You probably have fixed this but I like to spam on a forum.

- The Polyvalent Sniper's ''Railgun'' didn't work the last time I played with it.
- The Polyvalent Sniper's CHOPPER IS WAY TOO GOOD NERF IT, IT CAN"T BE HIT AND DEALS INSANE DAMAGE... cough cough...
- The last bullet in my clip still doesn't work (did you do this on purpose just to fck me)?
- Force Recon's ''reload -0.5 sec // + 1 bullet''-skill also gives the Nanite aura, I like it.
- Force Recon's stealth doesn't work properly, maybe I just suck.
- Polyvalent Sniper's book skills all have weird names.
- The Firebat's last book skill says that it costs 10 energy, but it costs 20 energy instead............ :O

- Add an 'objective-ping-machine' in the game. cba to fly around looking for crappy spores/liches...
- Remove the vortex thing, it sucks.
- NERF THE CHOPPER
- When nerfed... let the chopper fly to the group from the airbase... there's one already waiting to fly.
- wtb Varun
- nerf the chopper.
- nerf it srsly.
- I'm still waiting for an endless zombie siege mode after Apocalypse is down...
- Give more rankxp when you level up, I can just stay lvl 6 now and get my CHOPPPPEEER and I get tons of xp by killing 1000 mobs... no fun, I want to level up and get like 5-10xp each level ^^

I can answer this one though: you need to get experience points to get multiple heroes.
If you pick the first or second hero in multiplayer, you can get some exp and then, when you restart the game, you can pick other heroes based on your exp.

Night vision should turn it green sure, but maybe add reveal more, because it just looks like you put a green filter over the standard wc3 camera.

yes crawl would be more informative, the only difference is really in the rate that you can move in a crawl vs a crouch,

I need to develop the story system. But what do you need to know? Story? Background? Quests? I'm not sure to undertand what you said.
Like, I went into the game, and then me and my other testing friends simply said okay now what?

What is the probleme?
I didn't understand the purpose of jump tbh.

I will also remove bridges.
You don't nessecarily need to remove the bridges, just give them more natural feels...

Thanks for such a report again :)

So: Jump allows to fast avoid mass creeps, to jump from a cliff to an other and then gain time against creeps (time for them to follow you on the normal way).

I will change other things.

But once again, I dont understand why metal bridges is a probleme: you can have human structures in any area, can't you?
